Brae Burn Golf Club

About
Brae Burn Golf Club in Plymouth has a traditional layout with a landscape that ranges from gently rolling to wildly undulating. On most holes, elevated tees play to elevated greens. The large, undulating greens usually slope back to front. Golfers will encounter water on 15 holes and the fairways are lined with mature trees. The bunkering is sparse but strategically placed and there are also rough-enhanced moguls protecting the greens, a unique feature at Brae Burn. One tip if it is your first time on the golf course is to study the course diagram beforehand since there are many hidden ponds that come into play on the fairways and greensides. The course's most famous hole is the par-5 13th, nicknamed "The Monster" since it measures a devilish 666 yards. This tricky hole double doglegs to the left and then back towards the right.

Challenging Course
So late in the season we were a handful of golfers who ventured out. Literally 10 or so and the course conditions were partially wet. The greens were slower than usual which meant better putting! I had 30 putts which is very good for my level of play. I didn’t especially like all the ropes off areas but understand the course maintenance personnel are trying to keep carts off the fairways in low lying sections. I like this course and since it was in November(14) the conditions and weather was above “par”.
Revisiting the Monster!
Always Great to play a round at Brae Burn. Long course with many strategic Links. Staff was very courteous AND there were many Fantastic Deals in the Pro shop on Apparel accessories.
A Fun Course
I love the course layout and holes (maybe not #5 so much). Does the old course need some sprucing up - yes. But it was in really good shape, the greens are fast and true, and the tee boxes were in great condition for this time of year. Can't wait to play it again.
Carts and roads
Needs new carts and roads redone poor shape on both
Brae Burn - very nice !!
Excellent golf experience. Course was in good shape. Fairways nice & groomed, greens roll nice (and their tough). Tee-boxes flat. Pace of play was great. Low spots were a little wet.
Only negative comment, the cart paths are very rough & beaten up.
Greens are really hard!
I liked the lay out, it’s definitely possible to score well, lots of short par 4s, but the greens were brutal and i found myself having so many par putts that turned to bogeys and even a few doubles. enjoyed the course though, would play again.
Fokfnow pricing was $15 mire than their always $25 price in Monday's.
See title. You should know this. I have been taught to check course costs first now b4 Golf.now. this is not a review against the course. It is afaunst golf now
Golf okay….everything else is awful
Golf course: Great value for its lay out and condition. Lots of hills compared to other courses in the area.
Customer service: Horrible. I walked in and got no welcome or acknowledgment that I was even human. Had to initiate why I was there before the guy spoke. He said 3 words the whole interaction and I really felt like I was a burden.
Then we were on #8 and decide to call in an order like it suggests all over the score card, and the response was “An order for what??” They had no idea why someone would call to place an order. I was then transferred to the “tavern” where I was told they only have hot dogs… Not much of a tavern if you only serve hot dogs. That’s a hot dog stand. 🙄
Lastly, our cart battery died and they weren’t sure what to do when we called for help. They did come out quickly, but no point were they apologetic or anything. They just told us why it happened and left. Same cheery guy that check me in didn’t even look at us even though he was clearly the manager or owner.
I’ve gone to this course 50+ times over the years and it was always welcoming and a good time. Something has changed greatly and every moment felt like we were a burden.
Great gem of a course for over 100 years.
Love playing this course because of the quiet and nature and challenging layout.
Always my go to course for improving my game.
Course needs some care.
The tee boxes were In bad shape. We will never go there on a Sunday again. And the pace of play was way too slow. There were no rangers out to keep the pace of play moving. The parking lot was full of potholes and needs repair. We were disappointed.
