Never better
The course was in great shape
Pace of play was terrific
Plan to be be back
Over price
Great layout friendly staff however no amenities and way overpriced compared to other golf courses around.
Good layout, no snack bar?
I like playing here, place is a little beat up, but I’ll blame Covid. Could use a snack stand being open
Ball washers & water
It’s kinda crazy that Rutgers doesn’t have a problem letting their students share rented scooters, that are laying all around the campus, but there are no ball washers and no drinking water on the course, not to mention a usually very good half-way house is shutdown… when is the COVID madness going to end?
Also, for a golf course attached to a university with a well respected golf turf management program, the fairways, rough and even the greens are in surprisingly poor condition.
My Monday Course
As a player of more than 20 years, I’ve known everyone who’s been connected with the RUGC for many years. The staff is without question wonderful. The manager, however, is bereft of any social skills and personality. I knew the young man while he was a fledgling student at Rutgers. He has become a bane in my opinion. Why? He demonstrates zero accord when it comes to understanding the power of influence or long term relationships. He has repeatedly overcharged my son and I. My son is a 3rd year student. Boasting a 3 handicap, the manager insists on charging us full price, not for students, but full price for everything. I’m a senior and he’s a student and we often play only 9 holes. The pace of play is not conducive on most days to continue 18 holes.
The staff is amicable, affable and friendly. But that’s because these people are older men who value relationships. Mr. Bob is a young hot head who has nothing but contempt for the public. Perhaps he should find himself doing other things…. It would certainly make the RUGC experience a bit better.

Nice Course, Little Too Expensive For Seniors
Nice course, pretty flat, Big fast greens, not overly long, just right length for seniors. I and my group would play there more, but a little too expensive for seniors.
GREAT TIME
play 2 rounds a week...great staff and usually great pace of play....
Always Solid
PACE MONSTERS!!! Great for me because im a "quicker" player. The main reason for multiple replays here is the pace. You can expect a 4hr round (+/- 10min) The Marshalls WILL MOVE YOU ALONG if you're not doing so yourself.
This isn't the course where you F around with your group and go ball shopping in the woods. Period. They'll skip you a hole if you gap out too far..
Course is always well maintained and presents a challenge from any tee box.
Enjoy!
overblown Covid precautions
decent course, but absolutley ridiculous that there was no drinking water on the course, water fountains disabled, just one vending machine largely sold out, and all on a 90 degree day. Do the people managing this course really think that it's wiser to remove waterfountains, or not put out watercoolers, etc. rather than risk the incredibly remote chance that Covid would somehow be passed along via these? They are more likely to have people dropping from heat stroke. Where is the common sense?
Your feedback about water on the course is important to us. As we begin the season, we are working to develop the best way to provide our guest with refreshments. We do allow outside drinks. You are welcome to bring your own bottled water, Gatorade, or another refreshment as long as it is alcohol-free. We are glad to see you rated everything else to be great during your game. We will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Rutgers University Golf Course. We hope to see you again soon.
Solid Course
This is a solid golf course especially for the $. Easy check-in, very well maintained, and not too many spots to lose your ball. Only thing I would criticize is the signs to each hole are confusing. There were times where we didn’t know where the next hole was. Cart path signs should be placed right before greens instead of a white line (which looks tacky). Other than that, this was a solid course.
Good Value
Many improvements in the overall course; drainage being one that sticks out. Price is very reasonable and the course design is a plus; good balance on par 3 holes along with some real challenging par 4's and 5's. Greens were slow which made long putts especially uphill putts a challenge. Should have hit a few on your practice green to get a feel for the pace but from the look of the practice green it might have been rolled recently while the course greens were pretty soft. Would also be nice if Gophers would fix their ball marks.
Rutgers
As usual great shape greens great nothing bad about the course love this place pace great
Not in the condition it usually is
Parts of the course were burned out and this is uncommon for Rutgers. Also, the greens were in mostly good shape, but the pins were placed in places where multiple ball marks were not repaired...very frustrating.
Rutgers is my go to place
Always on time, conditions are awesome and layout is great !!!
