Fun challenging day
The course is in great shape and the greens are slick. It was a challenge for me, and I didn't score well. We played 36 holes we liked it so much. I enjoyed the day none the less, and had an opportunity to snap a picture from thr #15 tee box overlooking the lake. The staff accommodating and friendly. I plan to play here again as soon as possible.
Challenging
Extremely hilly course especially the back nine. Played for the tips. The yardage says just under 6,500 yards. However, it play much longer than this. Greens are in great shape. The fastest greens I have played this year. Tee boxes need mowing. I thought the grass was to tall. This course is extremely challenging and demanding. Bring you "A" game!
We Won't Be Back
Had some friends come in from out of town and we decided to play ACC because it looked liked a good course and I hadn't played it before. I TOTALLY regret my decision, and my buddies were less than impressed. We had a 4-some booked early Saturday morning, checked in about 25 min before our tee-time. We get up to the 1st tee box only to see 4 entire groups, including a 6-some!!!!! It absolutely blew my mind, they had "overbooked" so bad we didnt tee off until almost 30 min later. Played at a snails pace for the rest of the day.
This course has come a long way in the last year.
This used to be the premier course in the area in it's hey day. However fell on hard times and had a major decline in the condition on the course. But now she is back. The tee boxes, fairways and greens are all in great shape, except for just a few spots here and there. And around the cart paths in a few places the ground is a little worn. But all in all I am looking forward to playing there again real soon.
ACC has made improvements
The front nine was in very good condition. Some of the back nine had fairways that were not in good condition. Work was being done to clear trees which should open up some of the holes. The greens were in great shape and very fast.
Fairways in bad shape
The fairways were bald in some areas and a lot of trees being cut down. Greens were ok and rate of play was great. Not a goat pasture but not far above it
Not their finest hour
I was not informed that the greens were aerated the day before my round. I was also not told that there was ongoing renovation i.e., ground clearing, fairway landscaping, and tree removal all while I played! The 19th hole and most of the club facilities were unopened or inaccessible all day. It was hands down one of the most unpleasant rounds of golf I've ever subjected myself to.
I drove an hour and a half to get there so I tried to make the best of it by taking the round despite my reservations upon arriving and hearing about the greens, but I was not prepared for the lousy condition of the course as a whole and really wish I'd saved the money and time.
Need a ranger
Slow foursome play needs to be patrolled by a ranger to speed things up or let other golfers play through !! But overall the course was in pretty good condition.
Overbooked
Tried to play on a Sunday and it was 65 degrees carts not available waited an hour course all backed up ended up playing the first 3 holes 3 times. Too bad. My friends who played 18 took over 6 hrs. Not usually the case but when you book 130 tee times and get greedy that happens
Fun course
Fairways and greens were good. You have to play here a time or two figure out the spots not to go.Enjoyable track. I recommend.
Great Local Value
I play this course periodically and have done so for several years. The greens are in the best shape I can remember. They opened up the course by cutting some trees. The fairways and roughs have improved as well. Had lunch on their patio afterwards and was very good. This course is finally starting to reach its potential, as it is a great design.
Good value
Considering the price of the course on golf now it's worth checking out if it falls in your price range. I like the course design it's fun with some challenges, some greens weren't in great condition same went for fairways. One problem I don't like is there doesn't seem to be much management of the players going off the first. There is no starter, we teed off first so had no problem and played in under 4 hours (foursome) but anytime we saw one it was backed up, which would anger me.
Getting Better
Course getting better by the week... New owners making the course playable again. Greens in good shape.
Greens attract golfers.
The greens were the best I can remember them . True and fast. I thoroughly enjoyed my round.
Nice Place
I played Tuesday with another golfer. Rain was expected so course was empty. Nice to paly and have the whole course to ourselves. As mentioned in other reviews there was alot of barren and grass less areas. They seem to be working on course as there is alot of trees cut and a few area under repair. Tee boxes needed cut but it has been raining alot so I understand. Greens in good shape and well taken care of. Very nice setting. I will definately return again.
Greens nice!!
played 18 holes with friends and course was in great shape greens rolled pure with good speed, a must play if never played!
Get 'em while it's hot
First off, the greens are exceptional. They roll true. It was oppressively hot (mid-90s) and they had a guy out watering them the whole time I was there.
The carts have GPS that refresh on the fly. Certainly beats sloggy systems on other courses as well as the free app on my iPhone.
The fairways are about 65-75% really good. There are massive bare patches that I can’t imagine ever being fixed. What do they do with that Carolina clay and tree roots? I hit three shots into it. Two shots were still playable. One I took a free drop. There are bare spots around a couple of greens and the typical wear along the cart path. The overall conditions are no worse than typical muni courses.
Lots of trees shaping the holes. Water gods got a couple of my balls. But the over-all design of the course is well thought-out and challenging.
Some of the on-line descriptions about the course must have been written when it really was a private country club. It’s funny. There is a little cooler in the pro shop, but no snack bar. The guy in the pro shop has to run upstairs to pick up orders. The bar upstairs is really nice as are the two dining rooms.
I drove 1 ½ hours from Charlotte and I’ll go back again. I had a great time. There are deals on line and when the temp’s above 90.
Great greens, fun layout
My son and I were staying in Asheboro while attending the US Open. We decided to play at Asheboro Country Club. The greens were very good. They were smooth and rolled true. The fairways were average. The only negative was that some of the tees had not been mowed in a few days. The course is scenic and has some fun elevation changes. It was an enjoyable round. I would play it again if I am in the area.
Great Layout, Good Greens, Very Poor Conditions
I played Asheboro CC today. I have played this course before when the overall conditions were good, but today, other than the greens, it was in really bad shape. I can't remember when I've seen so many rocks just off the fairways. Fairways had a lot of bare dirt on them. Tee boxes were patchy. Around the collars of the greens, a lot of those were bare. On the bright side, the greens were in really good shape. The personnel working there were extremely friendly. I'm glad I got a good deal on Golf Now, would have really been mad if I paid a higher price. Overall, I would not recommend this course in this condition right now. Its ashame because when this course is in good shape, its a great layout and a good play. Its going to be awhile before I come back.
Great experience
Father/son day trip could not have been better. Greens in great shape. They are in process of making improvements to wooded areas up and down fairways but did not effect either round of golf. Golf pro and up stairs staff could not have been nicer. Hope to plan another outing soon. Thanks for a great day.
