Greens nice!!
played 18 holes with friends and course was in great shape greens rolled pure with good speed, a must play if never played!
Get 'em while it's hot
First off, the greens are exceptional. They roll true. It was oppressively hot (mid-90s) and they had a guy out watering them the whole time I was there.
The carts have GPS that refresh on the fly. Certainly beats sloggy systems on other courses as well as the free app on my iPhone.
The fairways are about 65-75% really good. There are massive bare patches that I can’t imagine ever being fixed. What do they do with that Carolina clay and tree roots? I hit three shots into it. Two shots were still playable. One I took a free drop. There are bare spots around a couple of greens and the typical wear along the cart path. The overall conditions are no worse than typical muni courses.
Lots of trees shaping the holes. Water gods got a couple of my balls. But the over-all design of the course is well thought-out and challenging.
Some of the on-line descriptions about the course must have been written when it really was a private country club. It’s funny. There is a little cooler in the pro shop, but no snack bar. The guy in the pro shop has to run upstairs to pick up orders. The bar upstairs is really nice as are the two dining rooms.
I drove 1 ½ hours from Charlotte and I’ll go back again. I had a great time. There are deals on line and when the temp’s above 90.
Great greens, fun layout
My son and I were staying in Asheboro while attending the US Open. We decided to play at Asheboro Country Club. The greens were very good. They were smooth and rolled true. The fairways were average. The only negative was that some of the tees had not been mowed in a few days. The course is scenic and has some fun elevation changes. It was an enjoyable round. I would play it again if I am in the area.
Great Layout, Good Greens, Very Poor Conditions
I played Asheboro CC today. I have played this course before when the overall conditions were good, but today, other than the greens, it was in really bad shape. I can't remember when I've seen so many rocks just off the fairways. Fairways had a lot of bare dirt on them. Tee boxes were patchy. Around the collars of the greens, a lot of those were bare. On the bright side, the greens were in really good shape. The personnel working there were extremely friendly. I'm glad I got a good deal on Golf Now, would have really been mad if I paid a higher price. Overall, I would not recommend this course in this condition right now. Its ashame because when this course is in good shape, its a great layout and a good play. Its going to be awhile before I come back.
Great experience
Father/son day trip could not have been better. Greens in great shape. They are in process of making improvements to wooded areas up and down fairways but did not effect either round of golf. Golf pro and up stairs staff could not have been nicer. Hope to plan another outing soon. Thanks for a great day.
Nice course
The greens were starting to get in great shape. The fairways are still a little off but still enjoyed our round. I have played this course many times over the years and seem to always enjoy the outing. Will go back to play again in the near future !
Saddened
I was very disappointed in Asheboro Country Club's course condition. The greens were great but all other aspects were dismal. The fairways were in terrible condition and I had to find grass to play from so not to tear up my clubs. They had changed the starting holes so we actually started on the wrong hole causing some hard feelings from other players. I informed the pro shop guy that it had been awhile since I played there and he did not mention the course had changed. There was only one staff person working the whole club house from running upstairs to get the food to checking golfers in. The food was over priced and not very good. Chain saws ran the entire time we played. Will not recommend course and will not go back for awhile.
Better Shape Now
Last time we played a few months ago it was under construction but it was cleaned up and the greens were excellent also, we will be back. Also the guy working was real nice and let us go out early
Played it for 2nd time
Course was in decent shape with very good greens, moderate fairways but still has much remodeling on both sides of fairways with many trees lying in the rough. Played with a lovely couple and have just rescheduled another round for next week. Great value.
lLook forward to going back
I had played this course years ago. It has a nice layout. Greens were in good shape, fairways dormant and had been punched. It is evident that they are trying to put some work into the course. Trees are being thinned out which is a good thing. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Value is good. Look forward to going back when it greens up!
Should be closed
It was like playing in a plowed pasteur. The course was the worst course I have ever played. If you where putting you would have loggers running chainsaws beside the greens. In the fairways they had plugged them so hard that it was like a plowed field
Sad Disappointment
I had always heard good things about this course, but when I went I was highly disappointed. There was no one in the clubhouse. After I finally got onto the course, I got stuck behind a threesome that I was constantly waiting on. When I skipped the turn break to get passed them it took two or three holes before I got stuck behind a foursome that would not let me play through. The course was in bad condition. There were holes in the fairway, some of the fairways looked like they were used for the moguls at the winter Olympics. There were trees down all along the faiways as big logs instead of cutting them down and moving them out. Overall, I am glad I got a good deal to go play here because I would have been very upset about paying their normal prices to play there.
Nice Course
Course was in good shape considering it was in the middle of winter. Dining facilities were being remodeled, did not have food services when we played. Had a friendly neighborhood dog escort us for two holes.
The course was in good condition
The fairways were in good condition, but the greens needed
some attention. There was some heavy maintenance at
the time we played, having to do with the cutting of trees.
The staff was super friendly and very helpful.
Fun to play. Every hole different layout.
This is now my favorite course. Every hole has a completely different layout of hills, beautiful views, nicely groomed bunkers, etc. Every cart has a gps and they also provide a course layout booklet. They have sand with fertilizer mixed in on all arts. The fairways are wide and nicely manicured and they have cut down lots of trees and raked up all along the sides of the fairways, thus it is easy to find and play your ball regardless of where you hit. Greens have been recently aerated, but are very playable and in good shape. They also have a platinum membership that enables you to use it at several other Warrior courses in different states. They also have a pool that will be available. Awesome course, just wish it was closer to Florida where I live so I could play it more often.
Dirt track
Very ugly course. There were smoldering burn piles in the trees lining some of the fairways. Most fairways had huge dirt spots with gravel mixed in. Brush was way overgrown around tee boxes. The course was physically hard. It was like playing off concrete covered by a layer of cheap carpet. The greens were eaten up with poana and were similar to trying to putt on granite. Most of the course, fairways included, could be considered ground under repair.
The only positive was the staff, they were very friendly.
Asheboro country club
I was really disappointed with my experience at asheboro country club. I booked a tee time for Saturday morning at 8:20, and everything was fine until we made the turn to go to the back nine. They had scheduled a tournament to go off the back, so when we made the turn there sat a line of people waiting to go off number 10. Asked if we could stay in order to play the course and was told to skip around and find out a way to finish. We payed money like everyone else. A heads up before we started to start on the back would have been nice. Scheduling on a golf course is pretty important and obviously this place doesn't have a clue. Was excited to play the course and had a good front nine going but it all changed after this. I was ready to pack it up and head to the house. The customer service was terrible.
Back nine was the best
Carts are gas,had to wait for a free cart. Front nine needs attention, lots of tree cutting and piles of lumber stacked off of the fairways. Not well marked for yardage. Fairways average, greens average. No restrooms on the course. Clubhouse and restaurant closed at 5pm on a Saturday. Could not find a restroom after the round since all the doors were locked. Could be a very nice course, great views on the back nine.
Course in great shape. In cart GPS. Great value.
The greens were excellent, fast, and true. Fairways and tee boxes in good shape. Great value. Challenging but fair course. Older narrow fairways. Some tree thinning between fairways in progress. If you end up in the woods a lot of logs, limbs and leaves to deal with. Keep it in the fairway and on the greens the only thing to deal with are the slick greens.
Asheboro Hot
Was a hot sticky day, but I had a great time. They are clearing trees to add light and air movement on some holes. This is a very challenging course and I like it.
