They are back !
After a long closure from storm in Sept the back 9 is open. Love the course. Not in its best shape , but glad to have it back open. A few funky holes but still enjoyable round. Front 9 should be back open this fall.
Half course closed
Would have been nice to know that half the course was closed prior to driving two hours to play what was described as an 18 hole course!!! Very disappointing!!!
Not ready for prime time
Having just reopened (back 9 only) following hurricane Helene, I expected the course conditions (especially the greens) to be in much better after 9 months of “rest.” Apparently, the maintenance facility took the biggest hit and most of the course maintenance equipment was lost. As a result, the course is pretty overgrown with a couple of fairways invisible from the tees due to the high underbrush. The greens were closely-cut but were very untrue due to numerous imperfections that will require aerating and top-dressing to overcome. My biggest complaint is that that should have been done the month before reopening. But, I understand that with no revenue stream, it’s hard to pay for maintenance and materials. All that being said, I wouldn’t pay asking price to play here again, but a $25 HotDeal may be a reasonable price to pay.
Coming back post storm
As of late June 2025 the course has re-opened post Helene and is currently running the back 9 holes. (so 18 holes is the back nine 2 times) If you don't know, this course lost a lot during from the storm including their maint shop, most of the equipment and almost all the bridges on the course. I believe the pro shop was also affected but looked really good when I checked in. Course was in Okay shape given all these hurdles. The greens were in slightly less ideal shape and I anticipate when they get the proper equipment they will be brought back to their former glory. They seem to be putting a lot of work into restoration with minimal resources. Staff was super pleasant and Pro shop desk gave a good tip to alternate tees (between blue and white) each hole so even though you play the same 9 twice you don't start from the same spot.
Happy it’s back open!
Thrilled our home course is back open! Played Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Back 9 is currently open, so play it twice for 18. A few of the greens are spotty, but after what this course went through, zero complaints. Hats off to the staff for getting it playable again. Very happy with our outings that this course!
Great Views
Loved this mountain course that has two different 9s. Front nine is the older 9 and the back 9 is newer 9. Course has the rare par 6 hole on the back 9 which is different.
Well worth adding this one to a North Carolina mountain golf trip.
This course could be great.
The course was in very rough shape. Mud in the fairways and clumps of grass clippings. It’s a fun course and could be great.
Gem
Course was wet from all the rain but still overall good condition. Some of the tee boxes had little to no grass.
Black Mountain
Great course layout with challenging holes. Staff is friendly and helpful. Overall course was in good shape. One green had some bare spots, but most were in good shape. A few T boxes were bare, and needed repairs.
Always a great experience!
Brent is always pleasant and happy to enhance the experience
