Club house not doing its job
On the back nine we waited every single shot..Six groups backup with 2 holes open in front of them..Called the clubhouse twice and no action-I guess a fire would have gotten them to quit bs ing or afire to simplify get them to do their job…Manager said we finished in four hours and we paid on golf now -“what should we expect”…Never seen such behavior out of this guy before-its one thing to get a job but something else to do it… Message seems to be play 4 hr round even if no one is on course..Never had such experience at Bk Mt-hopefully he was having a bad day or showing off for all th folks hang with him in clubhouse…Singular occurrence we hope to never see again even since we used golf now that he pointed out…Hopefully they don’t let another foursome out with 2 bags-and 2 golfers who had never played-hope all the folks were charged-makes you wonder what’s going on with taxpayer's money at course….

Fun challenge
Course was in decent shape, a few tee boxes were in rough shape. However, the greens were rolling incredible fast. More than a few blind shots if you haven't played the course before. Pace of play was average if not a little slower on a weekend afternoon. Elevation changes make you second guess club choice on more than one hole. Very interesting par 6 hole on the back nine.

The Way Golf Should Be…
Pristine fall day, bright sunshine, autumn colors. My senior, single teetime merged with a twosome who invited me to join them. Let the conversations begin as we weaved our way through nine holes.
We shared golf tips, stories of past endeavors and plenty of laughs
as we tracked loose golf balls into tall grass borders. And of course we fully appreciated those soaring shots landing gently on the green just like we planned. The pro shop was happy to put me in touch with a decent stead of clubs, no charge, but call ahead. The staff easily retrieved my forgotten items, and returned them to me as I was heading off for a bite to eat at the green tee grille, where the great service continued. A great golf outing on a perfect day.

Great course
Tee boxes however, need some attention! Greens and fairways are great!

Pace of Play
They need a sign that says 0-5 Handicap (BLUE); 5-15 (WHITE); 15+ (RED)...too many folks playing from the wrong tees which bogged down the pace of play

No yardage markers
Be prepared. No sticks, or marked sprinklers. It was a guessing game without a range finder.

Absolutely terrible
The greens and quite a few of the tee boxes also were full of sand. Obviously this is common practice in the fall months but staff was completely oblivious or felt no need to make us aware of the conditions before starting our round.

Mountain Gem
First time playing Black Mountain GC and we found it to be very enjoyable! Despite the greens being aerated just nine days prior, they were surprisingly well on their way to being healed up. We’re looking forward to playing again when the greens are at their best and the rhododendrons are in full bloom! Fun to experience the par 6, 747 yard 17th hole! The food at the Green Tee Grille was delicious and we hear the breakfast should not be missed! We’ll be back soon!

Aerated greens
I love this Donald Ross gem. My summer home course. Played 9/29 almost 2 weeks after aeration and greens still sandy and slow. I would wait another week before playing. Other than that great place to play.

SAND
This course is always one of my favorites but they really messed up this time when they top dressed the greens. The sand was thick and heavy on the greens. I have played here before after top dressing and conditions were not unplayable like this time. They need to look at their procedures for the future.
