good price and fun layout and good condition
course was in good shape considering the weather.would play again. good value. pro shop was kind and friendly.
The course
The course was scenic and fun to play. Wide fairways, nice greens makes it fun. Greens can be challenging but fair.
Great Layout
Little River is a real gem. Good variety of holes with water and sand traps. Some carries over water require perfect ball strikes. Would play it again-thanks to Golfnow prices.
Great course, long but fair.
Played this course a bunch, course is great. Bar onsite is one of the best, but is closed from November to the middle of February. So if you go, bring drinks and whatever you want to eat. Besides that... One if the best all around in Pinehurst.... Great greens, challenging Par 3's, long par 5's. You won't be disappointed.
Great mixture of easy and challenging all rolled into one place....
Overall the course is a good test of golf. You can shoot low if you can avoid the hazards, but if you get greedy, its not hard to rack up a big number. That is what makes this course a fun place to play, it gives you choices.....go for it or lay-up. The greens were firm and rolled true as well.
Great course with some super challenging holes.
We had a foursome and we all played from the gold tees, we are getting older and wanted to enjoy our day on the links. The plan worked and the weather cooperated and we are glad. This course would be very challenging from the tips. Our only sad thing was the pace of play as we were held up most of the back nine from two twosomes in front of us, Everything else was so great however we still had a great day and plan on playing Little River again.
Poor fairway conditions (brown, dormant grass), poor tee box conditions, greens pock-marked, no maintenance had been done in the traps; gravel sand.
It looked like they had shut down for the winter (but they still took our money!:
All of the issues stated in the Review Summary, plus: no bag drop/cart attendant (we did it all ourselves) no starter, no marshall, no refreshment cart, halfway window shut (had to go to the bar with limited selection, i.e. two sandwich choices and nothing else), etc.!
It could be very nice course, especially the back nine. They should own up to conditions before accepting the tee time reservation and provide much better service.
Hidden gem
Course could use some water on the front, but overall it is a well designed course that has several really aesthetic holes. Back nine as good a test as any in the area.
Personnel could be a bit friendlier.
Interesting topography with hills and water hazards
Got a great deal on GolfNow App on my Iphone. Saved 80% off published rate. Course was not in perfect condition (fairways brown from not being overseeded) Some greens had patchy bare spots. Overall pace of play was fast for midweek and enough variety in elevation and water to make this course fun to play.
Nice layout, true resort area course.
Nice layout, not to difficult and a scenic pleasure. An old farm transformed into a golf course. You can easily pay 95-125 on the weekends, but through Golfnow rates range from $18-$45. Truly a nice course without houses getting in the way. Recently played with twosome from New England prepping to play 5 of the Pinehurst courses for the week. They also thoroughly enjoy the course. Again, Very nice course.
VERY GOOD, BUT SLOW PLAY IN FRONT OF US.
Two foursomes in front of us. Each group had two men PLAYING THE WRONG TEE'S. Could not make the fairway on many shots and were constantly looking for lost balls. NO rangers on the course to speed up play. Course is in very good shape, nice layout. Would have been five stars if the pace of play was faster.
Little River
My only complaint was that the golf cart paths are in serious need of repair. Bring your club head covers or you will endure some serious club chatter. Enjoyed the back 9 in particular. Tough opening hole. Greens were firm and fairly quick. Staff was great.
Great course a must play in the sandhills
Played it a dozen times, always in good shape, will play it many more times. Great layout, fun tough holes.
great course worth the money.
This was my first visit to little river and I will definitely go back. The course was in very good condition just short of pristine. The coarse was challenging but not exceedingly difficult so that you could maintain pace and have a good time.
Great layout and beautiful scenary.
Beautiful course with all natural surroundings (no houses!). Challenging and at the same time very fair where course management is a key to scoring well. Greens were in great shape. From the white tees approximately 6400 yards and usage of all clubs required and an imagination to attempt some fun shots.
Except for the slow play it was a very good experience.
It was an extremely long round of golf. we waited on every shot. There was a fivesome in front of us but they were being held up. Course was in good shape. Loved the back 9.
Great value
Look for a deal on this one. I can see paying full price for it, but why do so if you don't have to. The course was a in good shape. The greens were pretty consistent. Only one or two gimmicky holes (would love to replay #4 and #17. Other than that, it's a course that all levels should be able to enjoy. Beginners/high handicappers/duffers should play from the gold tees. Trust me, it will make your round much more fun. Don't be a hero.
Wonderful Course
This is a wonderful course to play with a great layout. Not the same old course design that you would normally play. One of my favorites!
Love this course, I live right next door and enjoy this layout.
Hey guys this course rocks, bar staff super friendly even when my playing partner clearly crossed the line, this is to you, yssup, thinking of u!!
Great course near Pinehurst
They had just aerated and sanded the greens, so the price was super cheap and there were not many people playing. Little River is a great course and was in excellent condition other than having to put up with the inconsistency of the sandy greens. Our group played 18 holes in under 3.5 hours, which is not normal for this usually busy course.
