Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

Pace of play is atrocious

The course was fine, but the pace of play was unbelievably slow. Started the round at 3:40, and made the turn at 7. The lack of a ranger to advise groups playing slow to either move it along or let people through is a problem. Paid for 18, got 12 holes in. Again, started round at 3:40.

Flawless greens even with the downpours

Everyone around knows this course does not drain well but I have to say the new green system they put in few years did it’s job amazingly well. Rained buckets the morning I played and then again mid round and you would have no idea. Rest of the course still held a lot of water but any course would have. Completely worth the $50 I paid for a morning weekend round.

Starters Think it’s Pinehurst

I booked as a single to play a late 5:30 round at Lochmere. Overbooked as always, the starter forced another guy and I to pair up then proceeded to say we had to ride in the same cart. Neither of us wanted to and he then proceeded to charge us $20 extra for an additional “cart fee”. Making an extra $20 after you’ve already paid a cart fee is evidently their cart policy …

Will never play here again and will spread the word

Starters think this is Pinehurst

Booked as a single and tried to play. Pulled up to tee off and it’s overbooked as usual. Starter forced me to pair up with another single, which I agreed to and then was told we had to ride in the same cart. Neither wanted to do that so the starter then tried to charge an additional $20 “cart fee”.

Great value dont be in a hurry

Very nice mix of holes greens run true and are relatively small. I enjoyed the course very much. Except there was no ranger to monitor pace of play. Which was terrible because of one group.

My new go-to

Found my new go-to course today having recently moved from Durham to Cary. Located in a small little corner of Cary and is so well-maintained with a hospitable staff and incredible course conditions for late summer. A fun layout and just challenging enough where club selection off the tee is crucial for low-scoring. Championship bermuda greens run fast and true. Tree-lined holes that make for tight shots and water around the entire course create a wonderful atmosphere. Tee boxes were slightly battered, but didn’t take away from all the other positives.

Extra golf cart charge

GolfNow app includes cart fees on this course. Front desk guy forced me to pay extra fee for $20 cart rental or share the cart with other buddy. Very upset, unpleasant about their staffs attitude and found many red flags on google business review was true.

I paid extra $10 for cart which they forced, and discounted on me to pay. I hope their business goes bankrupt and fail.

Course was in incredible shape

Showed up for an 11:16 tee time on one of the hottest days of the year not knowing what to expect. For my first time at this course, it blew me away. Will be going back, hopefully with some better scores
