Golfer Reviews
Terrible greens
Course is fun don’t get me wrong. Tee boxes and fairways are in good shape. The greens though, almost ruin the whole course. Yes they were punched a couple days before I got there but I have played at places with freshly punched greens. This, did not help these terrible greens in anyway. I will gladly play here again once they figure out their green situation. Balls don’t roll, greens are full of sand and spots with no grass.
Hello and thank you for your 5-star rating! We're delighted you enjoyed your round. Please book another round with us soon, and thanks for choosing Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation!
Good golf course!
Golf course is always fun to play! The greens are hit-or-miss, but overall it’s okay to play every now and again.
Hi mcrews. Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation.
Lost their greens
Some of the worst greens I’ve ever played on outside of your local muni goat track. All are completely lost yet they haven’t lowered rates any. Not worth going back for quite some time
Hi u964542853! Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back!
Nice course but...
It’s a nice course and layout, but the greens were horrendous. Definitely could have changed the pin placement more recently or even make sure greens are more ready to play.
We apologize for the condition of our greens. The bent grass greens have suffered recently due to a combination of increased play, heat, and rain. We are working hard to have them back in great shape over the coming weeks. Thank you for your understanding and hope to have you back out this fall when the greens have healed up.
Disappointed
The back nine was closed without warning when booking. The greens are in horrible shape. They are currently working on them, but for now they are terrible. Other then that, it is normally a very nice course.

Decent course, trash greens
This course is a fun one to play. My only concern is the greens. It looks like they are working on it but they are so terrible. The value right now with the greens condition is over priced. $65 on a weekend for cheese grater greens isn't worth it. If players would fix their divots if may be in better shape but unfortunately they let it get it if hand.

AVOID
These greens might be the worst I have ever played in Charlotte. Tee to green was in excellent shape, but the greens looked like napalm went off on them. $50 greens fees and no warning at all anywhere. Incredibly disappointed.

Greens in bad shape
Course is a great layout to go low but the greens were almost unplayable. See pictures from 8/14/20

Greens are in terrible shape
I play this course a lot since I live nearby. It has a nice layout and the staff is great however with the increase demand for golf from covid there has been an increase in the green fees. The course gets a lot of play. The greens are in terrible shape, some of them actually have very little grass left. The pace of play on the weekends is very slow.

Bad Greens
The greens are the worst played on this year. Inconsistent grass, so soft when you try repairing ball marks you just pull up more dirt.
The layout of course is excellent and the course has so much potential but the greens make it a good walk spoiled.

Course in great shape, other than the greens. They were beat up and tough to putt on. Other than that, great value for the money.
Hi zkuchmaner. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation.
Greens were horrible
I’ve played this course numerous times and the greens this time were horrendous especially when you consider how much they want for this course now. Luckily, I had a deal and didn’t pay the regular price. I really like this course, the layout is great and the staff is very nice but they really need to do something about those greens

Great course..until you get to the green
Played here a couple years ago and the course was fine. Returned this weekend to hopefully re-introduce it into the Charlotte rotation. Tee boxes, fairways, rough, and bunkers are in great condition. However, the greens are a joke. It looks like someone took a shotgun and blasted every green 30 times over. Beyond being ripped to shreds, they are somehow incredibly soft for the middle of summer. Cannot imagine how they will look once the perma-wet conditions of the winter roll around.
I have hope the course can fix the greens and it return to being a great deal. But for $65 you can find much better in the area.

Terrible greens
It had been 2 years since I played here last, and I was reminded why I stayed away for so long. The greens are in terrible shape. It’s a shame because it’s a nice layout, but my god the greens suck. I doubt I’ll ever play here again. I’d much rather drive 15 more minutes and play Eagle Chase.

Great Layoit and Pace but terrible Greens
Always loved the layout and the overall pace of play but was shocked to see how bad the greens were maintained. No one repairing ball marks and large patches of diseased grass everywhere on the greens.

Poor management
After going to the clubhouse to pay, we were stopped by the "starter" who needed to thoroughly review our receipts to ensure we weren't sneaking on a rural course on a weekday. We were then stopped again by another staff member to confirm our tee time. Did not make us feel very good about playing here with all the harassment before we even got our first shot. Completely unnecessary. Once we did start you realize the greens are almost unplayable. Poorly maintained and plenty of better options out there..
