The Currituck Club has a Rees Jones-designed layout that stands out from other Outer Banks courses, mostly thanks to its ideal location along the Currituck Sound. The golf course shares the landscape with an abundance of wildlife including deer, osprey, geese, and turtles. Golfers might even catch a glimpse of an eagle soaring overhead. The layout tumbles across rolling sand dunes and combined with the seaside location, the golf course offers a true links feel that is reminiscent of traditional Scottish courses. The diverse coastal terrain is covered with maritime forests and wetlands. The holes are both challenging and scenic, especially the seventh through the ninth, which sit right along the Sound. The golf course also finishes on the Sound with a scenic closing stretch. Playing The Currituck Club right at sundown will provide unrivaled views.

Not pleasant

The staff meets you at your car - loads you clubs

Front desk welcoming - checkin quick/easy

88 degrees out - no drink cart - broken

The greens were very beat up - so many ball marks- shoe -drag marks around cups - and some greens look like kid damage - one green had a “scar” like someone purposely dug their club in and dragged it - and the grass was trying to grow back over it - on avg I probably fixed 3 or four marks per hole in one fairway - we thought we caught up to the group in front - it was 4 kids from a bordering property walking across fairway - they crashed and left a 6person cart near a creek- on top of all that - this club flipped their front and back nine - we started on 10 and didn’t realize it till 4th hole -(no starter) same with a group behind us! I use 18 birdies which apparently wasn’t updated - leading to total confusion . Afternoon rate $135

Compare Va Beach National - impeccable $55

Kilmarlic - better layout / a little better greens / cart girl $105

The Pointe - wide open fairways / great range/ drink cart / great bar $89

I wish currituck was better - it’s 3.5 miles from our rental - but we made a group decision that it’s better value to get thru Duck and go off island.

The only small downside....

Is if you play in the evening. Many folks come and "play" for the lower rates. However, these folks have NO IDEA of what golf rules are. We overlook the 2nd hole (old 11th hole) and there are MULTIPLE times that we have seen "golfers" driving their carts onto or next to the green with no regard to rules of play or damage tot he green and sides. This is inexcusable and if you ask me as a member I would like to see these people thrown off the course and banned from play.

Decent Track

Overall a fun course to play. I was the first tee time of the day and was paired with another single and a twosome. I appreciate them pairing groups up to keep things moving. The course was extremely wet with dew until about 10am. A fair amount of fresh cut grass in the fairways to dirty up the ball. The greens were EXTREMELY slow, which made it challenging to adjust to. The course is well manicured. It would be a $75 course here in Ohio, so the beach price is to be expected. There's plenty of water and lateral hazards to contend with so keeping it relatively straight off the tee is a must. a short course with plenty of 50-100 yd approach shots. lots of birdie holes, so long as you're in the fairway. i'd like to play it again when i'm hitting my drive straight. Shot 78 with 6 penalty strokes for lateral hazards off the tee.

Extraordinary Experience

Visited with my family and I’m a single golfer. The staff was amazing!!!!!! They were incredibly accommodating and always found a spot for me! Is it expensive? Yup! You’re on vacation! It’s a great course on the water! The staff is great! The course was in excellent condition. The greens were super receptive and yes if you play in the morning, maybe a bit slow but I’d recommend any beginner not to complain about slow greens. You’ll score better with slower greens. These greens were probably a 7-10 depending on time of time. Play here! So worth the experience!

Conditions have deteriorated

I played in July 2023 and the greens on the front 9 were in awful condition. Unrepaired ball marks and inconsistencies all over. Additionally the greens were slow putting wise. For the price they charge it was really disappointing and would recommend driving to other courses over playing here.

Beautiful course , extremely rude and chauvinistic employees

We were staying in Currituck for our first time to Corolla. Booked a group of 8 to golf , most first time golfers. The staff was extremely rude , condescending and chauvinistic. The temps were in the 90’s and when one of the ladies came down with heat stroke and had to walk off the course to be picked up , security radioed to keep an eye on her, instead of offering assistance , a ride off the course or even water. We spent nearly $800 for what was supposed to be a fun family event. I can honestly say I have never experienced such rude, insensitive and disrespectful individuals.

Get what you’re paying for

What you’re paying for is a pretty well kept course in a very convenient vacation location. Decent layout.

But for almost $90 for 9 holes, amenities are extremely lacking.

$8 small bucket of range balls, not included with round, but there were only 9 bays set up on the grass. All taken so we didn’t have bays to hit in.

90 degree day but all water stations were empty.

At least these are easy fixes, but I expect more at the price point.

Great Views

This was a good course in the Outer Banks. The greens are slower and no roll on the fairways so play a tee up or blend it with a tee up as our 6,300 played like 6,600 at home in Indy.

GPS

My son and I played and thought the course was in great condition based on the amount of play it must get in the summer. A GPS system on the carts would be helpful as there were a few tee shots where we had no clue where to aim. Pace of play was 4 hours, we rarely waited to hit our shots. Overall rating 4 out of 5 stars.

Nice Course But Not Worth $189

I know it's supply and demand but $189 is too high. No more than $120. And the $189 did not include range balls! Course in good shape. Greens a tad slow. Also surprised they have no senior rates.
