Very affordable course through GolfNow.com
This course has a lot of water to the right of many of the holes. I am a novice and also tend to slice. That being said, I lost more balls than normal on this course. If you can play around the water this is a great course. Very friendly staff and great value on golfnow.com. The one complaint is that the greens on several of the holes are dry, bumpy, and slow.
Baywood
Some things are too good to be true, however that does not apply to this deal. We played at Baywood for $15 through the website vs. paying $30 per the golf pro running the course. This process was beyond easy and convenient. I paid online, checked in at the counter, and they handed me the golf cart keys. TOO EASY. We enjoyed the course and ease of everything so much we are playing again today at 11am. Hit'em Straight everyone.
Worth the time to play
Beautiful homes line the course but keep your eyes on the road while you're out playing because this course will have its way with you if you're distracted!
Water is a constant challenge on most of the course but the fairways are generous enough that good shots are rewarded with accessible shots to the green. The greens are fast but I like that.
All in all this is a very playable course for a decent player and challenging enough to be worth the money for anyone on either side of decent.
This was my second time on the course and I will be back soon!
great first experience
live close by but never played course. pleasant surprise. staff very friendly. nice layout. good pace of play . finished in a little over 3 hours. will deifinitely play again. 20 hndcapper.
Very enjoyable
Caught up with a threesome and joined them, good comradery and enjoyed playing for the first time in a long while.
Staff was awful, course was not maintained
To keep this short and sweet, we had an issue with staffing. We had a 4 sum Tee time for 12:33, we teed off at 12:28 so there wouldn't be an issue with people right on our tails. We were playing best ball and we playing at a moderate pace. Staff had a mom and her daughter start right as we did so they were right on our behinds the whole time. One instance they almost hit my wife on a par three as we were leaving the whole and did not even attempt to yell Fore! These same indivuals called and complained saying we were too slow when we weren't moving slow at all, they did not have a tee time and started on our tee time. We still let them pass us when they caught up on the 7th hole. We brought this issue up to staff and it was one of the owners we talked to. He said that he was aware of the issue and then did nothing about it and didn't even care.
Also the course was very poorly maintained. Looked and felt like I was golfing on a goat ranch
Hidden Gem
I'm so glad GolfNow had this course available. It was a really good course and very playable. We had a great time and a great round. The best $20 I've ever spent on a golf course and an exceptional value!
Plane Jane
After reading the reviews and having some area locals tell me to play Baywood I expected more. The layout is blah at best. Flat and straight ahead on nearly every hole. There is no character to the layout which was disappointing for me. The pace of play, staff friendliness, the cost and course conditions for early spring were the only reason I gave it 3 out of 5. I see problems in the future for the greens as there is an invasive grass choking out the Bermuda on almost every green. Plus interior OB on courses so people don't "cut the corner" is ridiculous in my opinion. If you are looking for an inexpensive and quick round then try it out but don't expect any more character than the elevated tees and greens.
Baywood Golf Course
Great course with fast greens and plenty of water and bunker obstacles. Slow play at times due to groups but usually complete within 3-3 1/2 hours.
Baywood experience
I have played Baywood several times and always have had a good experience. Nothing bad to say about the course, management takes care of the course and is always happy to see you.Plan to continue playing at Baywood.
Greens need work
It was obvious the green recently had been aerated, but had not been sanded. I've played on recently aerated greens on multiple occasions but these were the worst by far.
Best deal in town
Love this course, it's a challenging but fair test of golf that won't break the bank. The staff is always friendly and helpful. You will not find a better deal.
Actually the greens have not been aerated. The greens are just starting to grow again (they have been dormant for months). Baywood from what i can remember aerates their greens during the summer months when the course slows down with play due to the hot weather. Please do not post a comment without actually knowing the facts. I recently played Baywood last weekend and the greens looked to be in pretty good shape from coming out of the winter months. Yes some of the greens were bumpy but that is to be expected at this time of the year.
