Getting there.
As mentioned in previous reviews, course is in rough shape. It appears they are working on it. The greens were better than they had been, but were infested with anthills. Areas around the green were a little more lush. Fairways were dead grass (I know we’ve had 95+ degree temps and no rain). It is a good layout with a ton of potential. If you’re a hack just looking for a cheap round of golf, Baywood fits the bill.
Cheap and challenging
Great place to have a fun round of golf. Minimally staffed and greens are being repaired but we love playing here. Can’t beat it for less than $30 for 18 holes! The staff is also extremely friendly, not that typical grumpy guy behind the counter. Pro shop is limited so make sure you get your favorite glove and golf ball before you come.
Good Course for new golfers
I’ve only been golfing for about a month now and I’ve been to Baywood 5 times already and I enjoy it. For the price point you really can’t ask for anything better from Baywood. Of course there are areas of the course that need attention, maintenance and upgrades but overall it’s a good course to play.
Course is in better & better condition each time I play!!
Really enjoy playing at Baywood! Super friendly staff greens are not great but they get better looking each time I play there. For the price you can’t beat it!!
Baywood Golf
The course is from and fast. Rolling the ball in the fairway is a must in order to find a decent lie. I have always liked the layout of this course, it's a good track.
The Tee boxes were in fair condition. Some aeration would do them some good.
The greens are very inconsistent. Some are firm, some are soft and receptive. There are a lot of weeds that have infested the greens, which will knock your putts off line. Other than that, they run pretty fast.
You get what you pay for!
The value was tough to beat but it was really reflected in the course's condition. Fairways were okay but significant drainage issues. Several Tee Boxes were under repair or uneven. However, it was a fun course with challenging layout; tight fairways and though provoking dog legs.
Garbage
Greens are terrible! They were infested with loans and bare spots. The bare spots are actually holes on some, so there's no smooth rolling of your ball when you putt. Your ball bounces everywhere. I literally hit a bare spot where the lip around it was so drastic, my ball went up in the air and went in a completely different direction. The tee boxes are trash and uneven. No grass on the tee boxes and 2 of the tee boxes were dirt with a driving range mat to hit off of and even those mats were terrible. The white tee markers on the 17th hole are in between the 2 mounds of the old tee boxes and on a slope. I played as a single and had 2 gentlemen in front of me that hit 2-3 ball for every shot and would fish for balls at every water hazard they drove by. They literally took 2 ball retrievers out every time to get balls out of the water. One of the greens apparently had crews repairing the green at some point in time and they left a mound of dirt, shovels, pitch forks and other tools sticking into the green and standing straight up, unattended. Something else to deal with when hitting onto the poor greens. Carts were in poor condition and the cart paths even worse. I've tried several times because I do think it's a great layout, but the course management is the worst I've ever seen. They should really consider taking a golf course management course and a greens keeping course. This place is in serious need of someone that knows what they're doing to take over and revitalize it. Will not waste time or money there again.
Not bad. Also not good
Cool design. Friendly people and players. Greens are terrible. Bunkers are worse. If you can get it cheap go for it
Fun course
Great course layout. Greens were a little unpredictable but challenging. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely play it again.
