Golfer Reviews
Good buy
Overall good day. The fairways and tees where in great shape. The greens had a million ball marks. No one seemed to fix them. A shame. Good buy and I love the layout.
Broadmoor
Nice course, pretty good bar (they cook burgers and hot dogs on the grill for folks as they pull off the course). Only drawback is it is right in the flight path of landing planes at the airport. They come in low and loud.
Mixed Feelings
Nice track, nothing fancy and surprisingly, for mountain area, seems like it would be walkable. Was pretty pleased with condition and speed of greens - they definitely had a little more pace than some other nice well-rated courses in area. Unfortunately the tee boxes were kinda chewed up and weedy and the fairways have surely seen better days - some really soggy and “patchy” with bunch of rough and bare spots. Despite that, had enjoyable round and really appreciated the mostly smooth puttable greens.
Fairly priced and worth a visit.
In great shape right now course has came a long ways since 08
First time for this...
I play Broadmoor on a regular basis (couple times a month). Today was. first. When I arrived at 12:30 for my 12:56 tee time there was a line of golfers waiting on carts. They had no carts available for the amount of golfers. Not necessarily there fault, lot of players on a beautiful day. Just a bit weird. Thankfully I was able to tee off at the booked time and play a 4 hour round matched with another player. The course is in nice shape and they work hard to keep pace of play moving. I recommend this course to anyone.
Nice Layout and Condition
Surprised by the practice facility and quality of the property. Tee boxes were level and in good shape, fairways were well maintained. Greens were in good shape but slow. Need to be verticut as grass is really tight. We'll be back!
Suffering from flooding
I have always enjoyed this course. There seems to be a new group running the club and they are not as friendly as those in the past. As for the course, it played as normal fairways and greens were good as a whole. But the course has suffered from flooding. There were areas roped off and areas of silt and sand in the fairways. On #11 for example the entire fairway near the green had been flooded and there was at least 60 yards which played as if it was a trap. The base was washed out under the cart path on #17 and you had to steer off toward the green to pass. For now the course is suffering and hopefully they will get it back in shape.
Pretty Average Public Golf Course
Nothing too special at Broadmoor; this course is the definition of basic parkland golf. Decent amount of water to contend with. Conditions were okay, though the bunkers need a lot of work. The grass driving range and practice putting greens are nice, but the clubhouse was very average. It’s pretty much the textbook definition of a public golf course, but at $34 on a Friday afternoon, it served its purpose.
OVERALL: 5.8/10
Poor management
Beware!!!! Ive played there many times nice course for the money. BUT!!!!! If you book a tee time thru them or any other booking company's. They dont inform you if theres a tournament or mens league playing that day you want to play. Or do they inform you greens arriratted. But they will take your money knowing theres noway you can finish your 18. Especially if you want to play in the afternoon. There's a big sign on there counter no refunds for slow play!!! Last week didnt get my 18 holes finished because there was 2 groups of sixsomes playing a scramble many times there would be 3 groups waiting on each hole to tee off..... If you got 6 hours to play 18 then this is the course for you!!!
Terrible
Unfriendly new staff at desk and new outside "chef" was terribly unfriendly and hygiene was a factor. Could smell cigarette smoke all over him
Good Course Near Airport
Nice links style course. Greens were soft and in very good condition. The fairways had some rough spots and some areas around the course were shaggy and needed mowing. Staff was great.
a good test
The Broadmoor Golf Links is an interesting course. With good bent grass greens and firm Bermuda fairways it provides the best of surfaces to play. Conditions were ideal the day we played and the course was in very good condition. The staff was friendly and efficient.
Pleasantly surprised
From past reviews wasn't sure what to expect but found the course to be in excellent condition. The number of holes where water comes into play is more like 4 or five but I managed to go in the water 3 times in part because of first time playing the course. The description of play on their website is very accurate. Enjoyed my round and would definitely play there again.
Great course for your money
Course superintendent has done a remarkable job getting course in the shape it is in now from a couple of winter freezes. Play there almost every week. Staff is excellent from Holly and Jeff to Chuck, Dick and Roger. Only negative thing that I can say is pace of play is sometimes a little slow, but that has seemed to have gotten better. Would highly recommend this course.
Water, water everywhere
Prior to our round the area had lots of rain which created lots of "casual water" areas on the course. Fairways were tight, greens rolled true and were in good shape. Lots of water hazards which come in to play on 15 of the 18 holes.
very nice course
We could not get a bad lie in the fairways. The greens were a good speed for most golfers and receptive. Would recommend this course to golfers of any skill level. Also located right near Asheville, NC.
