Power Rankings: First quarter of 2019

Rain would normally be a bad thing for the golf industry.

And, to some degree, all the wet weather was bad for rounds played in California the first three months of 2019. But Mother Nature also did California a solid, making the entire state blossom to life. Fields of wildflowers called super blooms are drawing crowds up and down the west coast. Fields of yellows, oranges, blues - the colors are striking. Drought talk is being put on the back burner, at least until another six months of sun leads California into the treacherous wildfire season come late summer and fall.

For now, though, the courses are as green as I've ever seen them. If only I had a drone to capture them in all their green glory. Golf Advisor users have noticed, too. Six California courses made the top 10 of the power rankings for the first quarter of 2019. Arizona also fared quite well with three entrees. Here's a look:

  1. Semi-Private/Resort

  2. Public/Resort

Putting a Trump course in this ranking completely compromises this list. Trump uses the cheapest materials does not pay to have his courses maintained. Therefore Trump courses are not compatible with best.
