Dayton Valley Golf Club
About
Dayton Valley Golf Club is an Arnold Palmer Signature design that has been a PGA Tour Qualifier course since 1995, making it the longest standing site in the country. The course is surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains and stretches across the valley below. The rolling, links-style layout features sculpted fairways and large, undulating greens. You may find yourself faced with a tough lie even after a good shot. It's a challenging test with plenty of water and strategically placed bunkers coming into play throughout. Careful shot placement is especially important on the water holes at Dayton Valley G.C. The most difficult hole on the golf course is the par-4 ninth. It's a lengthy dogleg left with water down along the entire left side of the fairway and short and right of the green. On your approach, hitting left of the green you'll find heavy rough or pot bunkers.

The Old Grey Mare
Years ago, this course was top 5 in Northern Nevada. An Arnold Palmer design that is a beautiful layout-water, bunkers, risk reward, and with views of the mountains everywhere you look. The course has not been maintained properly for years. It is currently in relatively rough shape. One positive, I was told a new superintendent has been hired. I wish him well and hopefully he can revive this course to be what she used to be.
No Marshal so pace of play was 5+ hours. No cart girl so BYOB.
Receptive Greens in Perfect Weather
Played the course on a perfect spring day. Winds can wreak havoc on several holes that require carrying water. The normal winds add to the challenge on the course. The greens are currently in good shape. Pace of play was good up until the turn when bathroom breaks and food/beer runs can typically cause an issue. The right side of the 8th hole fairway is coming back after water issues stunted the growth last year. Fairways are narrow and end abruptly. Sometimes a Driver/Power strategy may not be the best plan.
re-play
THe3 course conditions were vastly improved from last August when I played it before.
Perfect course weather and enjoyable to play
This Spring weather was excellent this time of year for playing this course. We had mild temps and no wind!! It is a links style course with fairly open fairways and water hazards to challenge your golf skills regarding driving off the tees and placing your shots. Greens were in fairly good shape and somewhat challenging.
Fun Spring Day
Great spring day on the course.. Course in decent shape. Greens were a little rough..
Neglected Course Maintenance
For the price, you’d expect top notch greens, fairways, and bunkers. That just wasn’t the case. The bunkers had weeds, the fairways felt like rough on a lot of holes, and while the greens were decent, they were clearly overwatered. Tee boxes were in rough shape too.
At this price point, you’d think they’d be able to maintain the course on par with other local favorites, but that wasn’t my experience. Drop the price and I’d consider coming back, but right now it’s not worth the time or money.
Ehhh
Tough course but fun. Used to be a PGA qualifier course but the condition is not great anymore. Greens, fairways and teeboxes were good but outside of that there was a LOT of dirt/weed patches where grass should be. Priced a little high for the condition.
Not for me
Course has many whoop dee dos . Lots of little hills which I can deal with but the MANY dead smelly floating fish in the ponds I just can’t do. I went to the edge of the pond to get my ball and I almost stepped on a dead fish. The smell was so bad we left after 9. With that being said all the people that we encountered that work there were all very very nice.
Save your money.
The course is in bad condition. Not worth the hour drive.
