PALM VALLEY.......A MUST PLAY!
If you are a golfer and visiting Vegas, you MUST play Palm Valley! I planned a 4-day trip from Washington D.C to Vegas with my two sons and a round of golf was a priority. There are over 50 golf courses within a 20-mile radius of Las Vegas, so our distinct challenge was selecting the right course for us. I did in fact review each and every single course. After reading dozens upon dozens of reviews, looking into each course meticulously, and even reaching out for 3rd party recommendations we ultimately selected Palm Valley and felt like we hit the Vegas jackpot! Palm Valley is an absolute 5 STAR course hands down! The course was in absolute 100% pristine condition. First, the grounds attention to detail were incredibly impressive. No detail seemed to be overlooked. The course was challenging and quite enjoyable to play. The pace of play was reasonable, and all players we engaged with along the way [to include members] were friendly, courteous, and added value to our overall golf experience. The course and club was only a 20-minute taxi ride from our hotel in the heart of Las Vegas. The greens fee for the three of us, 18 holes, carts, and rental clubs was far less than I expected for a course as nice as Palm Valley. Our carts were immaculate, smooth, comfortable, and each had ice filled coolers for our beverages. And we became spoiled by our rental clubs, which were top of the line Callaways !!! The club had a beverage and snack cart circulating the course and we were afforded several opportunities to resupply and stay hydrated-Prices were very very reasonable. After our round, we turned our carts and clubs into the course staff who were prompt, courteous, and all asked if there was anything else they could help us with. We then visited the pro shop and purchased several pieces of merchandise that fell under their seasonal 40% off promotion. We then enjoyed a light lunch in the club lounge and were pleasantly greeted by several other players, staff, and club members who were quite friendly and hospitable. I'd like to share something we all found very special about Palm Valley, and that is each and every hole presented a breathtaking view worthy of a memorable photo opportunity- 360 degrees of spectacular views surrounding a beautiful course. I'd like to customarily close this review by highlighting the Palm Valley Golf Course management, Mr. Shane Sanchez. I had spoken to Shane personally a couple months before we visited the course. When we checked in, he remembered me which was quite surprising. Shane provided us with a basket of range balls to warm up and spent time introducing us to the course and explaining the layout and nuances. I was incredibly impressed with Shane, his professionalism, his personal skills, and the nature in which he truly represented Palm Valley. His professional courtesy cascaded to the remaining staff and left us with a wonderful experience all around. My sons and I are already planning our next Vegas trip, which will include [now] our traditional round at Palm Valley! Thank you, Shane, and all your team at Palm Valley that made our memorable trip such a success.

Well kept course. Play quick in 3 and half hour
Definitely will play again
Teens
The group in front of us was two younger teens playing from the tips definitely not appropriate for their skills level, the issue was them waiting for people in front to clear the green even though they were no where close to hitting that far, also were skipping rocks in the water features when they should've been hitting the ball, not a huge problem, and their parents were driving them, so I assume they lived there as the carts were custom. A couple of groups played through or skipped a hole , we just waited
SLOW
The course was in decent condition and the staff were super friendly. I was on a flight from Atlanta and delayed two hours so I called the pro shop and they reserved a spot for me in the afternoon. Super helpful. However, the pace of play was excruciatingly slow. I gave up after the 14th hole because I just couldn’t wait any longer.
Review
Enjoyed the course. Was able to play with a local that knew the course well which helped.
Fun course
Our group really enjoyed this course. Great condition, nice l'ajout!
Great layout
The course has a fantastic layout. However, the greens and fairways were punched a few weeks ago so the greens were slow and bumpy and there were punch divots all over the course. I am sure after the course recoups it will play well. The sand traps would have been good if they were raked everyday. The traps have sand but they were crusty and unpredictable. Having said all of that, I would definitely comeback and play when the course repairs.
3 of 3
There are three courses at Summerlin. Having recently played all three, I would rank this one as #3 of the three. Main problem was the course conditions were overly dry. Pace of play was good. Greens were 3 of 3....bumpy, coarse and slow. Quite a few blind shots, especially on approach shots making a first time experience a bit frustrating. I'll be back, and will play in the early morning next time to get the greens in their best condition. The course winds through a residential neighborhood, but the homes are set well back that they don't come into play. Fairways were wide, and the rough was non-existent (dormant and matted down).
Great round.
Anytime you can play a nice course in 4hrs is a perk in my book and we were late to the tee time. They were so accommodating and understanding. That alone started the round at ease. Nice conditions!
Course is in great condition
First time playing the course. The challenge was on the greens that roll faster than most greens that I’m used to.
Awesome course and layout
Came out to Vegas to visit family and this was my first playing this course. The teeboxs fairways and greens were in great condition, when I come out to visit again I will definitely play this course again. Worth the money.
Management error!
Let me start by saying it was a perfect day and as we drove up, we were very impressed with what we saw! Once inside we had a breakfast burrito which was fine and we headed out to putt and the driving range. The range was mats only which is understandable.
Then we made our way to the first tee. The group ahead of us had just tee’d off, which gave us adequate time to set our game and prepare to tee off.
After finishing the first hole, we made our way around the corner to the second tee where we were greeted by four foursomes and a ranger. As the Ranger made his way back to us he was very quick to point out that there was going to be a long delay due to five extra men’s club groups teeing off in the morning. He told us they had reservations for four teetimes and showed up with golfers for nine teetimes. He said management, let the men’s club control the teetimes, and now he was putting up with the residual fallout.
Two of the groups that had been waiting ahead of us, went back to the clubhouse as well as the twosome that we had been paired up with. After 25 minutes, we did tee off on the second hole and upon arrival on the third tee there were still four groups ahead of us waiting to tee off. Groups ahead of us and behind us were calling it a day and heading back to the clubhouse.
We had just flown in from a cold weather state and were just very happy to be in warm weather so we stayed at the course and continued to wait and play.
In over 50 years of golfing, I have never seen five groups on a hole. It did get better, by the time we got to the 10th tee there were only three groups waiting.
The course has the potential to be a very nice course. The rough and fairways were somewhat dormant, and the greens were average to slightly below average on speed. But the course truly has the potential to be a gem!
Unfortunately, we won’t know because the overall experience left us with a poor taste in our mouth and management made no attempt to rectify their error.
