Windyhill Golf Club

Really nice course, good layout and good views around the course. However, GolfNow made a mess of bookings by not checking availability on clubs website and we had to wait to tee off. This was due to club matches going on and this was where pace of play really suffered, regularly sitting at a tee box waiting with 2 groups in front of you as they wouldn't allow even a solo player to play through. A course I'd say a duo playing average golf could complete in 21/2-3hr, it took 4!! This was the only downside though and it was a good course to play and the Staff were really good and apologetic about GolfNows mistakes. Try and get an early tee off if available or go later in the summer to make sure no team matches will spoil your experience with slow play.

Great challenge

Had a great day out with my son. Friendly chap at the office got us checked in for the round & gave us some details on the course. It’s not rained in the area for around 10 days so the course was very dry, which helped with a few miss hit drives. Greens & tee boxes were in great condition. A well laid out course and a great opportunity to get the steps in, we will hire a cart next time!! The par 3’s were a stand out for me. Special Monday offer of £25 a round which was money well spent. We will definitely return.

Decent course, lack of signage

Decent course, facilities where closed on a Monday so can’t review that, pace of play was bang on

Only downside was the lack of signage

Struggled to find the 4th tee, had to cross the car park to get to it, I would still be looking for it now, if there was no one playing behind me

More signs required

Great course

Tidy wee course, greens in good shape. Staff were also nice, however £40 slightly pricey. But overall no complaints.

Nice greens, nice layout

The greens were pretty good and appeared to have been rolled. The tees and greens however , looked like they hadn't been cut in a few days with a couple of the fairways more like fields. The course has a lot of potential with some nice looking holes. We just felt it needed looked after a bit better

Windy weather
Used cart

Windy and Hilly but they don't hide that!

Its windy and hilly, glad we hired a buggy otherwise would have struggled but really had a fun day, other golfers complaining about the greens but i found them fine. It has some fun holes, staff were amazing and we had a nice pint to finish off. Only disappointing thing was there was a couple of kids on the course just randomly playing holes, we passed them 3 times only to find ourselves behind them again. It became frustrating.

5 ball of elderly gentlemen with no etiquette

Poor show from a five ball in front of us. All older gentlemen all over every fairway and presumably all members. We started four holes behind them and caught up to them on 10. One with a golf cart, one on a Dr. Evil electric scooter type, two with an electric trolley and one with a standard trolley. No understanding of how to let a two ball through - dangerous at points as they continued to play as we attempted to get through and out their way and didn’t stand well out of the scope of play, leaving their bags blocking the greens at points.

Why has golf gotten to the stage that older players refuse to allow two very capable younger golfers through in the orthodox way to maintain pace of play? Disappointing level of etiquette from Windyhill members.

Course was in reasonable condition but not worth £40 when Clydebank, Hayston, Renfrew GC’s etc are nearby. Clubs need to start reflecting on the actual conditions of their courses and do some homework, investigating the conditions of other courses in the surrounding area when setting prices.

Friends Catchup

A lovely warm welcome and information on the course, with maps and scorecards issued. The course was in very good condition, with staff working hard to maintain the fairways and tee boxes. The greens were very good and true. Fairways were well maintained and in good condition. My only suggestion would be more sand in the bunkers (only visited a couple)
