First time visitor
The course is set in the rolling hills around Milngavie and has some stunning views, with very friendly members. The course was a little wet in places but that’s to be expected due to recent weather conditions, and didn’t affect overall experience. Thoroughly enjoyed our round of golf and will definitely be back.
Lovely Setting & brilliant condition
Very enjoyable with course in great condition and round only taking 3 hours (2 ball). Marking from green to next tee very clear. Flags showed whether front, back or middle so very helpful. Only met one member of staff when checking in - girl on the bar who was extremely friendly & helpful. Would recommend to all players looking for a fair but slightly hilly golf course.
Impressive
After a bit of a struggle to find (You have to drive through a farm) the course presented itself and first impression was ‘oh yes’. A grand clubhouse and a big carpark. The course itself is very nice. Every hole is very different and challenging, although possible for a good score for all abilities.
Nice scenery, friendly staff and generally a great place. I would have no hesitation in playing again.
All round good course
Course in general was in good condition; greens a little inconsistent but everything else in good order.
There is no pro shop so take what you need as you wont get any extras there.
Great Course
Had a great round at Milngavie Golf Club. The course was in cracking condition – fairways were lush and well looked after, and the greens were seriously quick, which kept things interesting. There’s a good mix of holes too, with plenty of long par 4s and some tricky layouts that make you think a bit.
I ended up chatting to a few members along the way and they couldn’t have been more friendly. They gave me some great tips and mentioned that the club encourages folk to play from the tees that suit their handicap – not just sticking to the usual men’s, ladies’, or medal tees. It’s a nice touch that makes the round more enjoyable, especially if you’re still working on your game. We played from the Green tees as it was my brother's first time playing a full 18 holes, excited to come back again and play from the whites!
All in all, it’s a lovely course with a welcoming vibe – well worth a visit
Milngavie Golf Club
Course was in superb condition from Tee to Green and staff very very friendly.
Can’t recommend this course enough.
Only 1 hard walking hole was the 4th but no big deal.
50 years on!
I last played Here over 50 years ago, having moved to England. The course was in excellent condition, greens true, despite heavy rain innorebious days. Didn’t meet many locals but those I did were friendly, as was the ground staff. Excellent test of golf at a very reasonable price.
Nice enough course. That’s about it
Me and 6 others played milngavie yesterday and upon arrival you’re welcomed by the look of the course but unfortunately it doesn’t get much better after that. The course itself is fine especially for this time of year. The greens were in decent shape and the layout is okay. It was a touch water logged and the bunkers looked like they had a mosh pit in them. Not a rake in sight.
We had the unfortunate meeting with 4 old dinosaurs on the course who had forced one group behind us to postpone their match due to their incessant grumbling before moving onto my group. They had raised concerns about our pace of play despite being on course to finish our 4 ball within 3 hours 30 minutes. I now understand why a course with such potential has signage everywhere for members. These lot had likely scared everyone else off. Not a great look at folks looking to play with a view to joining or coming back. We certainly won’t be back due to this nor did we spend any monies in the club house nor the pro shop. Well we couldn’t spend money in the ‘pro shop’ if we tried, it consisted of the bar girl( who was very pleasant mannered I must add) selling fruit of the loom drop and old Taylor made used totties. No balls no snacks and no proper pro shop. Someone needs to let Milngavie golf club know that’s the wars over and they don’t need be rashioning still . Even the balls for sale, there were less totties available than there were in the Irish famine.
2 words won’t be back.
Fantastic course
Great course, great condition, great layout. Will definitely be considering joining!
Well maintained course
Course was in great condition with excellent greens. Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit.
Old run down course
Clubhouse is old and run down. Locker rooms haven't been updated in over 30 years. Course conditions are awful the fairways standard are on par with a local council course full of moss and hard to tell what's fairway and what's the first cut of rough. Greens were fully waterlogged after a full dry day and extreme wind they still weren't dried out. The course is not easily assessable and to charge £40 for a round with tcoirse conditions to fit to play is very poor. I bit of communication from the staff would have been helpful to give us a heads up on how poor the course was playing. I used to be a member of this course and have fond memories but unfortunately it's now dog @@@@ and I will never play it again.
Immaculate condition course - greens a bit slow!
The course was in immaculate condition throughout, tees, fairways and greens were lush and looked good on the eye. My only complaint was that the greens were very slow. Other than that, a great course and a very enjoyable walk.
Great course
Course was in great condition considering the amount of rain there has been recently!
Pace of play was good no hold ups, however me and my friend got round in 3.5 hours, playing a match for money new course so wanted to enjoy it instead of rushing round, we let two groups play through but they seemed to be running round
Members where friendly of those we spoke to
Some greens seemed to be running slower than others
Shoe cleaner broke but that’s just nit picking!
All in all a great course and 100% will be back in future!
