Wet and Dry
No buggies as the course had heavy overnight rain. Staff gave me a trolley and I was only one on the course at 13.00, starting as soon as the rain stopped, it stayed dry but the course had some standing water on the fairways but the greens were dry and played true. Great woodland course with testing but fair holes.
Not so good this time
The course was being worked on wh i i was aware of but these were green works which were fine, however the tee boxes were an overgrown mess. Slow play is an understatement and when the course is busy it should be important to check this or at least advise to let faster players / groups through.
I gave up at hole 11
This course is well laid out
Although the course was wet due to torrential rain it is well laid out and staff are really friendly the off course facilities are excellent I play here regularly and always enjoy it
Go elsewhere
This is definitely the worst course I’ve played in the area, I suppose it’s a what you get for £27 in the summer. Pace of play was slow with a ten min wait on every single tee while the course was pretty quiet, we played here earlier in the year and it was the same, we went back to see what it was like in summer. There is quite a trek between most of the holes. It has the potential to be a cracking course it just needs some proper maintenance, it’s just a health spa with a golf course. Spend the extra few quid and play elsewhere.
Nice course would play again
Lovely course.
It’s ran by Nuffield health as part of a large sports complex, something I expect may happen more and more in future.
Seemed very busy in the car park but was mainly for the sports complex.
Some great holes and some different too. Greens were good considering the rain the day before. The card has a map that found helpful. Some long walks between holes but didn’t detract. Was slow but seemed to be luck of me getting dominance slow a few tees in front. Really enjoyed it though
A welcome change
Having been a member of Douglaston for many years, it was a pleasure to return to find the coarse in such great condition. The last couple of years had seen the quality of the coarse decline, which was my main reason for cancelling my membership and moving to Balmore golf club, whose condition is second to none.
I’m of the opinion that Douglaston is one of the most picturesque and varied park land courses out there, and somewhere I never got bored of playing. Hopefully the current conditions can be maintained as I’ll definitely be back for another round.
If you’re looking for a challenging round in a beautiful setting, give it a try.
Friday
Wide fairways, long pare 3 and 4, used to yard measurements, had to add extra 10% to lengths for meters shown, long course, greens in great shape
Course was in great condition
Really enjoyed the greens
Probably best value course in Glasgow
Do not hesitate to book. There are so many interesting holes which makes you think about what you need to do off every tea, rather than bash a driver. Definitely not your standard up and down track. With a little TLC this could be a truly amazing experience. As it is, for what you pay you get a great 18hole challenge on course which is in great condition.
Bring your A game
Need your A game for this as it is tight!!!
But lovely course, fantastic layout and some really nice golf holes
Only thing negative were greens were a bit fluffy so needed a cut (but in excellent condition) and tee box grass was a little long. Also needing a cut
Other than that would recommend as great value for money
Good sunny day course in good condition tee’ box yellows need some repair but all in all a happy experience
Great condition
Fairways and greens in a great condition. Good variation on the course. Worth a visit.
Another decent round at douglaston
Early weather report was not looking good, turned our to us having a completely dry round course played well ,a great test with different types of holes great for all abilities definitely recommend
Absolute Gem of a course
Played here this morning with a mate and can’t state how good this course is, had never heard of it before but we will be back. Got a bit of Gleneagles about some of the holes and although the weather wasn’t fantastic the course still shone through.. playing time was around 4hrs with no waiting on any tees or fairways.. great experience but take insect repellent as it is a parkland course after all..🤣
Challenging
A good length course with varied holes. Tricky though if you don't hit a fairway ona lot of the holes. Was a bit wet but had rained a bit. Worth a visit.
Good challenging course
Course is in great condition and very challenging, pace of play was fine until 2 guys appeared infront of us on the 10th tee which held up everyone behind and were not willing to let us play through, essentially causing 3 matches to be on the same hole for the last 9 holes. Other than this the staff were grest and the course is in very good condition
Was very hot!
Course is in excellent condition. Staff where very friendly from the get go when booking in, ended up getting to tee slightly early as everyone infront was already away out. Off course amenities are okay as there is a putting green but no driving range. Course is slightly hilly and we felt this probably more than usual as it was absolutely scorching (28-30°). Overall value for money was excellent and would recommend it to anyone.
Had a recent round here in a 2-ball and, unfortunately, it was spoiled by getting stuck behind a 4-ball who were playing a match and refused to let us through. While I understand club matches might have their own priorities, basic golf etiquette should never be overlooked — especially when it comes to pace of play and respect for others on the course.
It’s disappointing when players (or members) act as if the course revolves around them. A little courtesy goes a long way in making the game enjoyable for everyone. Perhaps a refresher on course etiquette for all members wouldn’t go amiss — especially for those who seem to have forgotten the simple decency of letting faster groups play through.
We ended up having to walk in after the 14th due to being out on the course for nearly 4 hours already.
Great course — shame about the experience.
