Rating 72.8

Singing Hills Golf Club offers two 18-hole championship courses, Oak Glen and Willow Glen, as well as a 9-hole, par-3 course. The courses are tucked into a valley, surrounded by mountains and sloping hillsides that provide stunning backdrops on almost every hole. The Sweetwater River runs through the Oak Glen Course, coming into play on several holes including the memorable fifth hole, which is definitely a contender for one of the best par 4s in San Diego. This challenging hole requires an accurate drive across the river. The gently rolling terrain is sprinkled with mature trees. The layout features undulating greens and tight fairways. It is a challenging golf course but it is generally forgiving off of the tees, which makes it slightly less difficult than the hillier Willow Glen Course on property.

Oak Glen: Beautiful Views, Brutal Scorecard

First round at Singing Hills Oak Glen and the course definitely won this match-up. Played from the red tees and posted a very humbling 115 — highlighted by an unforgettable 67 on the front nine, thanks mostly to the first 3 holes where the water hazards collected more of my golf balls than I’d like to admit. Apparently the lakes were accepting donations today.

The back nine, though? Much better. Settled down, slowed my swing (and my ego), and managed a respectable 48 coming in. Oak Glen is absolutely beautiful — breezy, green, and incredibly well maintained. The greens and bunkers will test your patience and your putting stroke, but the course rewards you if you actually stop trying to overpower it and start reading it.

Tough but fair. Humbling but fun. I left with fewer golf balls, a bruised scorecard, and a strong desire for a rematch. I’ll definitely be back with a little more confidence, a little more course management… and maybe a few extra sleeves of balls.

Pretty good

First experience with the pro shop was terrible. I started to just leave. As my first time playing here, I was trying to ask the pro shop questions and they kept demanding that I just sign for the cart and get out of their way. Didn’t even bother to ask if I wanted range balls or anything! Course was in great condition. Fairways were nice and greens were some of the best I’ve ever played. Overall I would go back, however someone should teach the guys in the pro shop some manners!

Championship Course

A great layout for the course. We finished in 4 hours and 15 minutes. Well groomed. Really like the water ponds throughout.

Would like to have them extend the grass to the right side of the fairway on Oak Glen hole #9. Right now there are wood chips.

Had breakfast at the RedTail restaurant and we relaxed in the bar afterwards.

Beautiful Course

I've been playing Oak Glenn since I started playing golf and hands down this is the best I've seen the course. The greens are great and run moderate the grounds keepers are steady doing what it takes to keep the course in great condition and there was cart service available every 3-5 holes. Great day at a great course, a San Diego hidden (but not really) Gem.

Too many cart ads

Great courses. Love it here. But relax with the art ads. Every single time you look at the gps you have to click through an ad. We get it. You have a restaurant. I don’t need to see an ad every single shot.

So strange- friendly staff and well organized!

So refreshing to travel to a course, be greeted with genuine, friendly staff, decent rental gear, fun course in outstanding shape. Food was good and not crazy overpriced. Would definitely return to this course if I return to San Diego in the future.

With the updates on the course, it is one of the better ones in Southern California. One thing I would appreciate as a single player is being informed about the group I am paired with. I had a cart and felt rushed while the rest of the group was taking their time.

All in excellent condition

Oak Glen in excellent condition. My only gripe is the long walk from the nether region of the parking lot to the pro-shop.

Practice Facility

The formerly amazing practice facility took a big hit this fall when the designers of the new singing hills driving range decided to hang the net too low. Many golfers have been hitting their shots into the roof of the net. Might as well just left the net right in front of you as they did during renovation. Its very disappointing that their designers and or engineers couldn’t figure this out. 41 years of patronage and now I’m out. They only thing the range is good for now is chipping and pitching and practice and they already have a huge area for that.

Oak Glen

Our first time at Singing Hills. All staff were friendly, especially Ruby in the pro shop and Andy the starter, who took time to explain the course. Driving range is covered with a high net, which I’d never seen, but was high enough that no shots were affected. Course was basically nice, especially the greens. Our big complaint was the rough: while it didn’t look exceptionally long, it was very hard to find balls there. We probably lost 6 balls that should have been easily found. The late afternoon light didn’t help much. Things got backed up around hole 15, with four groups waiting on 18 to tee off. Value was good.

Awesome conditions! Much improved.

Awesome conditions! Much improved since the renovation/ water/ irrigation improvements. I've mostly played Willow Glen on Hot Deals over the last year a few times while they were renovating Oak Glen and I finally caught a good deal using rewards points. The conditions were very lush and pretty uniform across the whole course. I'm not sure what all renovations they did but all the ponds will full of water w new concrete. Tee boxes were level and some of the hole layouts looked slightly different, maybe removed trees too. Greens were great. Not sure about the drastic difference in length though Blue is 6,800 compared to White 6,100. Highly recommend if you find a deal.

Fall Maintenance

The pace of play was slower than usual, but Pine Glen & Willow Glen were undergoing maintenance, so it seems groups who would have played an executive course were on Oak Glen - nearly 5 hr. round. Greens were true and fast, not being punched quite yet. However, we weren't informed the fairways were punched and not mowed yet so those "clumps" slow the ball down for me as I hit the ball extremely low and am on the fairways / ground quickly, losing 30-40 yards in distance.

Disappointed

We hadn't played here in probably 20 years but came down to stay at the casino and play a few rounds of golf. Played the Par 3 the first day and it is best suited for very young golfers...very short. We played 6 holes in less than 20 minutes until we caught up with a group and then had to wait to finish the other 3 holes. Even at $35 riding a cart, it is too expensive for what it is. Next day, we played Oak Glen on a Hot Deal tee time. Got paired up with 2 guys who absolutely could not find the fairways. Nice enough guys, but it made the round seem very long as they looked for their balls in adjacent fairways. Course layout is ok and condition was so-so. Facilities are lacking. No bag attendants...bag drop some distance from the pro shop/cart pick up. Driving range hitting into nets as they improve the range. If you expect to play a resort course and/or have resort amenities, you will be disappointed. Recommend you bring your own water. $11 for 2 bottles of water. Overall, spent $36 on non-alcoholic beverages for the round...4 waters and 2 sodas. Highway robbery.

Fun course but geo-fencing sucks.

The cart geo-fencing might be the worst in the county. When it’s not making back out of the first cut for no reason it’s trying to sell you something and making you hit buttons to get back to golf mode. Otherwise nice course. Suprisingly soft fairways for the location, going to say over watered due to mudballs. . Staff is super friendly and helpful, very service oriented. Ghost town on Monday so you can drop extra calls and practice on course without ruining pace of play OR fly through the course. Finished under 4 hours while playing multiple balls.
