About
Monarch Golf Club at Royal Highlands is carved from gently rolling hills located just outside of Orlando in the city of Leesburg. Although the wide fairways are relatively flat, the golf course's terrain provides the greens with gentle undulation. Sparkling lakes provide scenery while also coming into play as water hazards on nine holes. There are also doglegs and bunkers throughout to provide the golf course with even more challenges. Much of the land that the club occupies has been preserved as a wetlands area, offering golfers a glimpse of native wildlife. In addition to its natural beauty, Monarch Golf Club at Royal Highlands is popular due to its accessible layout that accommodates both low and high handicap players.

Don’t always believe reviews
My friend and I booked this course based on the 4 star reviews. While greens were in pretty good shape, the fairways were dry and sparse. Most tee boxes also needed attention.
On a positive note, the staff was friendly and the layout was nice.
Worst course I have ever played
No grass on tee box no grass in fairways. Hitting off weeds. Course not taken care of. The greens were fast and decent. Only reason I didn’t ask for a refund was the greens. Will never play again
Pretty bad shape
The course over all has a ton of potential with its lay out but unfortunately the place has gone south as far as it comes to greens, fairways, and tee boxes. If you want practice hitting out of the sand it’s a great course for that.
A Favorite
While undergoing aeration , the course was still fun and challenging.
Great course and restaurant
The course was in decent condition. Greens are terrific even though it appeared they had aerated recently - rolled pretty true. Restaurant was FANTASTIC! Pro shop and restaurant staff were very friendly. Some bare spots on fairways, but otherwise really nice!
Deteriorating fast
Played this course 4 times over the winter. Was a great value and course conditions were adequate. Played it yesterday and course conditions have really detiorated. Many greens were unplayable. Drought conditions have taken a toll.The course needs to adjust their green fee’s.$30.00 max for current conditions would be fair.
Poor greens , lot of bug damage by cranes
Greens were very bad. Some weren't even playable. For the $$ you charge its not worth it. Should have been 20$ if that
Fun course
For the golf now hot deal price, you can’t beat it. Greens are somewhat challenging. The Sandhills cranes tear up the fairways but that’s Florida. The tee box on hole 6 was all sand, but other than that it was kept up. Again, for the price, you can’t beat it.
Course reviews look great, the course is NOT!
Tee boxes and greens were bad shape. The layout is good but the course is in desperate need some TLC. For the money, $80 you are better off playing different course. Who in their right mind gave it a 94.4% rating and 4.2 stars? I believe it was the locals. It should only be a 3 star course if that! Don't waist your money.
