TPC Monterey at Pasadera
About
Golf course designer Jack Nicklaus says Nicklaus Club-Monterey evokes similarities to The Old Course at St. Andrews, Augusta National, Pine Valley and Pebble Beach, which is certainly high praise from the Golden Bear. Nicklaus credits the natural topography, where he was able to take advantage of existing hills, canyons and oak groves. He was able to create natural looking bunkers, which, combined with the native grasses, give Nicklaus Club-Monterey a bit of a British links-style feel. Featuring four sets of tees, the club is open for public play on Mondays.

Bernardus Lodge guests can play Pasadera
Let me reveal a little secret - public golfers can play Pasadera, the newest TPC course (it announced the new name days after I played it in June). Guests of the luxurious Bernardus Lodge can play the private course, making for a great California stay and play in the Carmel Valley. The course is a true stunner with two incredible elevated tee shots on the back nine. I'd love to go back and play it again.
Awesome layout with great greens!
I was able to play this private course 2 times in my life. Each time the weather was as good as any day you could wish for and the course was in excellent condition. It had very memorable holes that were not only challenging but fun to play. The greens were some of the best I've had the pleasure of putting on and I can safely say that given the opportunity I would most definitely play this course again.
