Winter Park Pines Golf Club
About
Winter Park Pines Golf Club has offered one of the most affordable rounds in the greater Orlando area since first opening in 1968. The course has a traditional design that is ideal for beginners though it's also great if you're looking for a quick, casual round. The par-70 golf course may seem odd with a par-34 front nine and a par-36 back nine, but the layout manages to blend together seamlessly. The golf course has short par 4s and par 3s of varying lengths. There is one par 5 that measures 462 yards. The first half of the course is especially scenic with mature trees framing most of the holes. In addition to the golf course, Winter Park Pines also has a practice facility available. It features a driving range as well as putting and chipping greens with a bunker.

Great Staff and Convenient, but Conditions and Pace of Play Lacking Today
I live nearby so this is a convenient course and a friendly layout. Unfortunately, the condition of the course is as bad as I can recall it - patchy fairways, greens with lots of fertilizer still on top, The only ranger I saw was well after lunch at the end of our round, at the pro shop/cart area. As a threesome, we constantly waited for the foursome ahead of us, which usually had a hole open in front of them. A little pace of play enforcement, and encouraging slower groups to let less deliberative groups play through when possible would go a long way.
Nice course and nice people!
My first time playing this course - Mark in the pro shop was very welcoming and made me feel very comfortable as a first-time player there.
Course layout is relatively easy to navigate, particularly if you are paired with people who regularly play the course and can point out the danger spots, as I was.
Greens were somewhat slow and spotty, but certainly playable as February winter greens.
The course is very walkable and I'm glad I had great weather to do so.
Overall an enjoyable day of well-paced, affordable golf (we played in 3 1/2 hours) and meeting nice people!
rules rules rules
Showed up for my 10:50 tee time a bit early to hit balls on the range first. had my 7yr old with me who plays golf from time to time but usually just rides in the cart. right before the tee time the lady at the pro shop informs me that no kids under 5 are allowed on the course. to which i replied "great, he's 7." well, if he wants to ride in the cart it will be an extra $18. and if he wants to play he has to have his own clubs. "umm, ok, well i sure wouldn't expect him to try and hit with my clubs." not so much as a smile from her. i ask if I can just pay for him to play a round to which I'm informed, "no, there are no tee times. we're fully booked."
"ok, i guess i'll pay the $18 so he can ride along."
"he can not get out of the cart, under any circumstances."
not sure this woman has ever met a 7yr old with that kind of expectation. but whatevs. get to the tee box and i'm literally partnered with 1 other kid. a 15yr old who is walking, because even though he has his driver's learning permit, they won't let the kid drive a golf cart. so please, explain to me again how there was no room to pay for my 7yr old to play? very mediocre course. lots of people hit balls right at you from other holes and rarely utter a "FOUR!". was happy to have give the course a shot, but definitely won't be back.
A Nice Course for Locals
As a Winter Park resident, this course is a very convenient and modestly priced alternative to most Orlando-area courses in high season.
Cheryl and the other shop staff were very friendly and helpful, offering to send me out early since it was chilly and there were a few cancellations. They've replaced their range mats with new ones that are much nicer.
The greens had been fertilized and had some surface challenges, but still plenty playable. There are some patchy sports around the greens, but the fairways were mostly very playable.
All in all, WP Pines is a good value for the money, especially this time of year and with its friendly staff.
Not worth the price!!
My 1st time playing here will be the last. The condition of the greens were horrible. I could not tell is there was grass growing or mold. I could not find many blades of actual grass amongst all the green sand they put on the greens to cover up the bad playing conditions . The tee boxes were not any better. I was totally disappointed especially since the city owns it and the Winter Park 9 is in much better condition.
Good beginner’s course
Very thin fairways and no-grass greens - not a pretty picture but OK for new players or hackers.
Really bad shape - not worth playing
In 2025, this course was in excellent playing condition. Clearly the course maintenance team were excellent and cared about the course. Obviously, something has changed. A lot of the greens and tee boxes are in terrible condition. And many of the fairways are lacking grass.
C’mon City of Winter Park - you can do better.
Let me know when it gets better. I’ll come back then!
Terrible and not worth the money
If you want to play on the worst condition course in Orlando, play here. Terrible greens and tee boxes.
It’s Getting Better
It’s been a year or more since the last time I’ve played Winter Park Pines and it’s certainly improved in its quality. The amenities have improved greatly, the course is better than I remember and the staff have always been great. For the cost it’s a good value.
