Flanno
Nice layout but tee boxes and fairways could use an over seeding and water! Staff friendly and range/practice area very nice. Good value!
Great Shape
It’s been a dry few months and this course is in good shape, greens are a solid test and the layout is always fun. Definitely recommend, didn’t have any problem with pace but it has been an issue in the past.
Terrific Greens and Staff
Rio Pinar continues to get better and better. The greens, which can be devilish if you land in the wrong place, are in great shape and rolling fast and true. the fairways are tightly cut and can be a bit splotchy but are certainly serviceable. Staff I've encountered here are always friendly and helpful. We played with a guest who was an old friend. Will enjoy summer rates when they arrive. :-)
A must when in Orlando
Great greens in superb condition , rolling true
and with speed. Great layout, tree lined but very fair . Staff were very accommodating and knowledgeable on the course. I will definitely return to play here again.
A fun round!
This is a fun, old course that I truly enjoy playing. I highly recommended for players of all levels. The practice range is one of the best ranges in all of Orlando with the exception that it’s hard to hit a driver due to the short length of the driving range. Big kudos to Ava on the beverage card and Jeff the starter. They were both very nice and I appreciated their kindness. I look forward to playing there again very soon.
Good Price that comes with frustration.
Played a late afternoon round and have mixed feelings. The course is in good shape. Greens rolled nice and fairways were in good shape. Tee boxes were a little beat up and most are not level, but otherwise the course is fun and in good shape.
My problem was everything else. Pace of play was really SLOW. Waited on every shot and some tee boxes stacked up. Lots of beginners or people looking for a cheaper option. The group ahead of us was filming content on every hole. A random two-some playing off one bag jumped in on 10 and were super slow. Most of this can be solved by a ranger, but they don’t have one. Beverage cart came by on 2, but never saw her again. Carts appear to have newer technology, but the carts themselves are rough drives.
Overall, I was out there to enjoy myself with my son, and we had a good time. I would think twice about playing there again based off this experience.
First Time a Charm
Played Rio Pinar for the first time after reading some favorable reviews. A good value, Found it challenging but fair. We had a 4 hour round midweek, Trackman installed on all driving range stalls was a nice plus. Unfortunately the driving range is "irons only" with 200yrd max range. Well kept greens were on the quick side. Had a good lunch after the round. Happened to meet one of the co-owners Greg who gave us a brief tour of the clubhouse. Overall good experience that exceeded exception.
Great value
Great layout. Many improvement over the last few years.
Policy
I made a tee time 20 hours before I was supposed to show up. 24-hour cancellation policy is garbage. It was predicted to rain at my tee time so I canceled whoever answered the phone insisted on the 24-hour cancellation policy. So I ended up getting charged $100 and not play. That's crap
Fairways and greens are in good condition. Layout is very nice. Restaurant is very good and offers good value. Course is not inexpensive but the overall i will give it very favorable rating.
Tricky Difficult
If you’re looking for a course that rewards precision over raw power, Rio Pinar is a "must-play" hidden gem in the Orlando area. This isn't your typical wide-open resort course; it’s a classic layout that demands your full attention from the first tee.
The Playing Conditions
The first thing you’ll notice is the impeccable maintenance. The grounds crew clearly takes pride in the property:
Fairways: Lush, well-defined, and consistent. You’ll rarely find a bad lie here, provided you stay in the short grass.
Greens: The standout feature. They are currently running fast and incredibly smooth. If you can read the line, the ball holds its path beautifully.
The Challenge: Precision is King
Rio Pinar is a "ball-striker’s course." You can’t simply bomb it down the fairway and hope for the best.
Tight Windows: The fairways are notably narrow, often lined with mature trees that will punish wayward tee shots.
Small Targets: The greens are smaller than average for Florida courses, requiring high-quality approach shots.
The Verdict: To post a low number here, you simply have to be "on." Scrambling is tough given the small green sizes, so hitting your spots is the only way to score well.
Why You Should Play Here
Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Rio Pinar offers a refreshing break from the modern, sprawling designs found closer to the attractions. It’s a traditional test of golf that feels both historic and perfectly preserved.
Pro Tip: Bring your "A" game with the irons—you're going to need it to hit those tiny targets
