Wrong time to play

For the price I paid (£34) and the condition of the course i didn't get a hot deal at all. Several of the greens were under repair/ replacement and the bunkers did not have any sand in them. The layout of the course i love but the condition of it severely let it down. A four ball two groups in front did not seem to know etiquette and did not allow the group in front of us play through which meant a round of golf for a two ball group took nearly 4.5 hours.

Wowee

4 holes weren’t even in play. Rest were all temporary greens which hadn’t even attempted to be cut. Fairways were longer than the rough and tee boxes longer than the fairways. Could have gotten better value hitting a ball about a local field

A bit slow but good course

The course was in good condition and up until the 13th pace of play was very good. Unfortunately a 3 ball would not let the 2 two ball in front of me through and this held up the round a little.

But enjoyed the round and the greens were pretty true.

Still a lovely course

Was a member here over 30 years ago, not much has changed but it didnt need to. Lots of variation and course on lovely condition.

Only negative was a rather rude gentleman who accused the person we were paired with of steeling his trolley. Just ridiculous but it reminded me of some of the attitudes when I was a member.

Nice parkland course in the middle of town with a lot of tradition

Golfing in town in a relaxed athmosphere. The Gosforth golf course has been around for over 100 years, is situated near the centre of Newcastle. It has strategically located bunkers and you have to cross water three times. We especially enjoyed the pleasant athmosphere, we could play at our own pace and were made welcome as visitors by the personnel and members.

Bridlepath still in winter mode

I have fond memories of Bridlepath and always try and get back and play it every now and again - the course is currently a bit muddy but is in relatively decent condition for late winter / early spring. It's a bit sad to see that the club has had to resort to security gates at the cross over points - probably in a bid to keep the unlicensed and uninsured motor cross brigade off the course two of which were buzzing back and forwards during our round - the local police should be attending to the problem but as seems increasingly usual these days they were nowhere to be seen. The course is quite popular which tends to result in pace of play being a bit slow at weekends and we were a bit surprised to see buggies being allowed onto the course to churn up fragile turf at this time of year.

Winter fairways

Enjoyed the course, but wasn’t aware of the winter fairway matts being a restriction until we got there, I looked on the website before hand and no mention of this. Totally understand why they put this in place but you should make people aware. Other than that, it was really enjoyable.

Excellent city course

Course in great condition despite winter weather. Also nicely sheltered, as it was an extremely windy day.

It's alright

We played early November and it was clear to see that winter preparations were under way. Some areas on the course hold water more than others. There's a lot of trees but the fallen leaves hadn't been cleaned from fairways, so anything off the beaten track you were hunting for a lost ball.
