Grainiest greens I’ve ever played
It was my first time playing Clermont National. Lots of elevation changes and the greens were the grainiest I’ve played. There are lots of doglegs and when combined with the elevation changes made the holes difficult to play for the first time. There are lots of blind tee shots and blind approach shots making it difficult to find your ball especially in the long rough. The grainy greens made putting challenging. Putting speed was 2-3 more into the grain than with the grain. We’ll be back armed with a better knowledge of the course.
A lot of fun
Really enjoyed the course. Conditions were good. Great value for a July tee time in Florida! Will return for sure.
Poor course maintenance.....
First off the staff are great. Every staff memeber was attentive, engaging and truly seemed to care about our experience. The amenities are also great. If i lived closer, I would come by weekly with my family due to the amenities, atmosphere and the general vibe.
We played here a couple months ago and were really impressed and excited to come back. I also understand the weather and drought condtions that have been occurring. While there were some area that clearly had some ossues from the drought, none of what I'm referencing has anything to do with that.
Driving to the teeboxes everything looked fine but the reality is that they seem to be skimping on the maintenance side of things. Mowing is clearly irregular as many areas were not mowed many areas with heavy clumps of grass clippings . Part of why we didn't come back sooner was due to aeration of the greens a month or so ago. Well that process clearly wasn't done properly and the greens have many areas of damage and do not roll true. The pins seemed to have not been changed in weeks as the majority of the holes were very well worn. The 2 some playing with me said the course reminded them of the last time it was closed and they they were also disappointed. I will be back because this place has all the makings of an amazing course but wanted to share for everyone that might be considering a longer drive to play this course. I would wait until the fall.
77 from the Blues!
Most hill ridden course in the state! Multiple times I thought I was in SC or N Georgia with the elevation changes. GPS on carts were amazing, weather, hole flyover, slope calculator, wing speed and direction. It was like having a caddie with me. WEAR GREAT WALKING SHOES, a lot of uphill/downhill, cart paths a little far from greens/tees but when you see this place you'll understand why. Quite a few houses out there but none close enough to feel squeezed. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IMMEDIATE PLAY (FL residents only $50) corn-hole, food trucks, top golf style range bring the family and make a day out it!
Excellent course to play … enjoy the layout everytime I play
First Time
Love the elevation of this course! It can be physically challenging, but nice change from other Orlando golf courses. The GPS on the carts is nice to assist with distance and course layout. Highly recommend this course and look forward to returningX
Great Coursr
The layout and elevation changes are awesome. Greens were definitely playable but need some TLC but I do realize the weather has not cooperated. I will be back
Great course and facility
This place is unlike anywhere I've played in florida. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The facility, driving range and bar were outstanding. The track was in awesome condition. The thing that really stands out is the elevation changes. Really unique. I can't wait to go back! Hats off to all the work at this club.
This course is oustanding!
I booked this place while on vacation just by some of the reviews. Wow, the reviews were right. This track was unlike anything I've played in florida. I only play the public courses so take that into consideration but the layout and elevation changes were awesome. The course is in excellent condition and the staff was very nice and welcoming. The range backs up to a really nice bar resteraunt that i did not get a chance to visit due to the usual afternoon down poor but I wish I could have. I will hit this spot every time im back in the area.
Overpriced
I would say it’s really overpriced when you can play Orange County National for less and it’s in better condition and amenities are nicer
Love the course should cost less
I have about 10 friends living in the Tampa area and I am definitely inviting all of them to come out and enjoy the course
Second time playing here . Love the atmosphere . The range is fun . The ladies at the outdoor bar are friendly . The course has a beautiful view . Only thing I dint like was the weather . It was hot and humid
Rough rough rough
Grass outside of fairway bunkers and in some rough were so high that golf balls are buried down so that wasted so much time looking for the golf ball. Why wouldn’t you mowed around the fairway bunkers ? The overall condition of the course was ok - lots of dry spots and not as green
Great Course, Great Experience!
We had the first tee time out the door and started on the 10th tee. The pace of play was excellent and we had no challenges when we made the turn and hit the first tee. No waiting at all, even on a Saturday. The course was in great shape with plenty of grass tee to green, particularly on the tee boxes! Kudos to the grounds crew!
The layout is challenging, offering plenty of opportunities to thread iron shots around corners and open up with the driver when needed. This course has come a long way and I will definitely play here again! This was my second time in a week to play here and both rounds were a great time! Thank you for a great golf experience!
Going downhill?
Disappointing. Have not played here in a year or so. First of all, practice green was brutally bad. Then on the course, the greens were incredibly inconsistent. Most were very slow but a few were fast. Impossible to gauge. Manicuring on entire course left alot to be desired - not in line with the prices they are charging. Additionally they were replacing all collars on the back so any and all approach shots or any chips around the green were seriously hindered. When I first played I thought this place was on the move, and despite them charging MUCH more than others in the area, I thought with a little more TLC it may be worth it. Unfortunately it has gone in the opposite direction. Not worth the premium and what's worse is .... given the condition of the practice green and especially the unplayable collars around the greens, there should have been a significant discount to the greens fees, but there were not.
VERY DISAPPOINTED
Course Knowledge
A lot of local knowledge needed for this course. No punch holes, no sand but slow greens. Re-sodding the green edges.
