Legends Golf & Country Club
About
Legends Golf & Country Club offers an 18-hole championship course that has become one of the most popular golf courses in central Florida. The course features dramatic elevation changes, which allow golfers to take in breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and citrus groves. Legends Golf & Country Club is known for its par-3 holes, but one of the most memorable holes is the par-4 fifth hole. The hole is a downhill dogleg left with an elevated tee that provides a spectacular view. Legends Golf & Country Club has a classic, moderately difficult layout that is difficult if approached too casually but also quite playable, even from the championship tees.

Mercy
It started pouring rain by the 5th hole, so we decided to stop play and head home. When I pulled up where return carts go, the gentleman inside the garage told me to ask pro-shop for a rain check. So I did! I truly wasn’t expecting that since it was my responsibility to look at the forecast..
However, the golf gods (and staff) showed me mercy!
Thank you Legends,

Punched Greens
The greens have been punched and sanded again. Second time in four weeks.
Worst top dress I have ever seen...
I played here a couple of months ago when they had just done aerification. The greens were in pretty good shape, the holes healing quickly but there was a lot of excess sand on the greens. This go around was worse in terms of leaving excess sand. The good news...all the holes were filled so it wasn't like playing chinese checkers. The sand was fine, and there weren't a lot of bumps. It was just very slow to putt on and the sand prevented a lot of the expected ball movement from contour.
Because my playing partner is in his mid 80s and doesn't hit it very far, he was playing a composite forward tees set. The only problem was that there were still several holes where he would have needed the best part of 100 yards on the fly to reach short grass. If you've trimmed a hole to 250 to 270 to make if playable for shorter hitters, but you're giving them a 100 yard carry off the tee box you're not really making the hole more playable.
I suppose that's a special case and there are only so many things you can do to accommodate players of different levels through different teeing grounds.
I love this course in spite of the above, because it is so unlike most central Florida courses. There is not a lot of water, and almost none of the forced carries are over water. The slope of the fairways, and changes in elevation require not only hitting to a spot, but understanding where the ball will run from there. Very much like links golf.
I'm sure I will be back, because this, and the course across the street are among the only area courses like it. I just wish they could do a better job of keeping it playable after aerification and trust me it can be done. I played a course in Vail the day after they aerated and the greens ran true and were still stimping at about 10.
Great Course
I play this course 6-7 times a year. Love the layout and conditions were great this week. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Only negative is the carts! Seems like they lock up and make you go in reverse well before the cart signs. Gets to be frustrating to have to slowly back up.
Otherwise, I highly recommend the course.
not what it was
The course has gone down hill since we play a few months ago. Alot of goose grass coming in ,the greens were so slow you had to beat it. and still no restaurant. I hope they get it under control we like the course.
Greens are nice. Tee boxes and rough need work.
Greens have been recently punched but are recovering nicely. Fairways are pretty good. Rough and some tee boxes need work. Drought is affecting the overall condition a bit.
great course...
one of our favorites...this round found the greens in less than ideal condition. Still recovering from aerating. A bit inconsistent... We will definitely be back...our twosome played 18 in 3 hours...
Needs a little TOC
The greens are very good. They have been punched in the last couple of weeks. Fairways were in pretty good shape. Rough and tee boxes need work.
Aerated Greens
Price was reduced due to the aerated greens. The greens were still healing from being punched and sanded.
The fairways had also been disc aerated but they were OK to play on. Just move the ball if on a cut line.
Always a fun course to play.
In good condition even if just aerated
My two playing partners indicated that the course was aerated on Tuesday and Wednesday prior to my playing on Friday the 19th. There was definitely sand on the greens, But the bumps from the punch were healing quickly.
This is a very different course for central Florida...a lot of elevation changes, and very little water. Conditions are fairly dry and the fairways in many cases have some slope side to side so a very links style of play. The course is in great condition. Once some rain tamps down the sand it will have even more teeth as green speeds come up since many of the greens have a fair bit of contour if you leave yourself in the wrong spot.
Great Day, Nice Course
Had a 7 AM tee time and was on the first tee a little before. Had a single in front of us but never saw him after he started. Great pace and was not hurried at all. We were done right at 4 hours. The course had some maintenance recently, some striping for insects on the fairways and airation on the greens.Greens were not consistent and had alot of sand, but were not horrible. Overall the course was in good shape. I hope to get back there again soon and would recommend.
Nice
Very professional staff and interesting course.. Can’t wait to play again. Yesterday was just too hot.
