About
Oak Hollow Golf Course is one of two municipally owned golf courses in High Point, N.C. This Pete Dye design is the newer and more popular of the two. The layout features several Dye signatures including pot bunkers and railroad ties but it's the small, undulating greens that are the most recognizable Dye trademark. The golf course has an interesting mix of holes, including several risk-reward opportunities. It's a course that will make you think, rewarding strategy and accuracy over might. The signature hole is the par-4 sixth. This 420-yard hole wraps around a lake with an island tee at the tips that will test the brave. Oak Hollow's toughest hole, though, is the 437-yard 11th, also a par 4. You'll need a perfectly placed tee shot and then after you're met with a triple-tiered green that sits along the water's edge.

Terrific challenge at Oak Hollow
It has been over 20 years since I last played Oak Hollow. The front 9 may be my favorite 9 holes of any course that I have played. The entire course offers terrific variety of hole designs and challenges. It is not a long course, but there are some demanding tee shots if you choose to play the back tees. The par 4 holes are the stars of the course, but don’t overlook the par 5s as well. As a public course, this is the best value in NC.

Summer heat and bent grass greens yields terrible greens.
Need to convert to Bermuda greens like every other respectable course.

Long day
Teed off at 12:10 and didn’t complete round until 5:30! The greens were slow and a little bumpy which I was alright with because they probably were aerated recently. But the pace of play was horrendous!m not to mention didn’t see a cart girl the whole day!

Needed a marshall
Loved this course the last time I played it. Not so this time. When we booked our tee time 13 hours before playing there was no one playing within two hours of our twosome. When we got there we did get to play as a twosome but there were too many different sized groups and mixes of walking/riding and play was horribly slow. We quit after 11 holes. How can you put up signs warning players that they should be done in 4:20 or whatever it is and then do nothing when it takes 3 hours to play the first 10 holes? What should happen is the marshal dives out, finds the group holding things up, and tells them to pick up and skip a hole. Never saw a marshal all day. When we got back to the clubhouse the marshal cart was sitting there. Empty. There were foursomes out there that were really bad golfers but more important they didn't know how to speed things up. I can play bad golf but I can play it fast. The greens were uncharacteristically fuzzy and slow. We were convinced they hadn't been mowed that day and certainly no one had fixed any ball marks. That shouldn't even be the grounds crew's job but the people out there that day were extremely negligent. We each fixed 2-3 ball marks on every green but there were far more. All in all not an enjoyable afternoon but to their credit they gave us rain checks and we will be back because this can be a really fun course to play.

Great layout greens need work
Played here a lot over the years and love the course. Do not however like their some of their policies and procedures we were 4 singles made to play as a foursome. I understand that 4 singles is not ideal but when it’s pushing 100 degrees and the course is empty there should be some compromises in policy.

Challenging Local Gem
This course can be overpowered if you're an accurate big hitter but otherwise it will require pretty much every shot you have. Lots of elevation changes will challenge your distance control. Trees are tight to the fairways on many holes requiring accurate tee shots to make the fairway. Beautiful course, water everywhere, greens were in excellent condition, rolled true if a little slow.
