Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
Oak Hollow Golf Course is one of two municipally owned golf courses in High Point, N.C. This Pete Dye design is the newer and more popular of the two. The layout features several Dye signatures including pot bunkers and railroad ties but it's the small, undulating greens that are the most recognizable Dye trademark. The golf course has an interesting mix of holes, including several risk-reward opportunities. It's a course that will make you think, rewarding strategy and accuracy over might. The signature hole is the par-4 sixth. This 420-yard hole wraps around a lake with an island tee at the tips that will test the brave. Oak Hollow's toughest hole, though, is the 437-yard 11th, also a par 4. You'll need a perfectly placed tee shot and then after you're met with a triple-tiered green that sits along the water's edge.

Perfect Day Photo submitted by Zippy0058 on 10/17/2016
The course was in good shape with the exception of the greens; which were in terrible shape. Apparently there was a 75 man tournament earlier in the day so it's understandable that the greens would be a little ruff. However, it was obvious that the green's wear was do to overtime poor upkeep. A green fee discount in light of all this would have been appropriate.
The staff which is usually great was more interested in their own goings-on than helping customers.
Hopefully, they will get these issues sorted out soon, as this is generally a great public course.
Great little track, outstanding value
This was a great track to play, and outstanding value for the price I paid. The greens are rolling slow, but that is the nature of bentgrass greens in the summer - mow them any tighter and you risk losing them. I'd much rather play on slow greens with grass than dirt and burned greens. The rest of the course is in good shape, on par or better than just about any other public course I've played. Good scenery and a refreshing breeze around the lake too.
I'll definitely be back to play again.
Unbelievable value
Got the hot deal at a ridiculous rate. So my expectations weren't that high, but man, this course blew me out of the water. Gorgeous layout with many holes utilizing the lake. Tees, greens and most fairways were amazing. (A few patchy spots in fairway) only issue was pace, but it was a beautiful day, so not too big deal with me.
Looking good
Course was n great shape and greens were looking great, probably rolling a little slow but overall very impressed with the staff
Great course/value
One of the nicer courses in the Triad. It's rare to find a Dye course for this rate! Course was in pretty good shape after all the rain!
My only complaint - I brought my 7 year old son - which I usually do. After checking in, buying him a glove, and asking for a bag tag for his bag - a staff member walked outside giving us a hard time about not communicating he was playing with me. The ranger apologized for the staff member's behavior and said it wasn't unusual and he would escalate. I took ownership for the miscommunication and offered and paid for an additional 18. All other staffers, ranger, and restaurant staff were excellent!
Beautiful day
A beautiful May day with gorgeous views of Oak Hollow lake and fine course conditions. Windy, but playable. Paired with 3 strangers who were very pleasant. A fine experience and very reasonably priced.
Best course in NC! Maybe on east coast.
I absolutely loved playing this course even though my score wasn't very good. I think I was distracted by the beautiful surroundings; the lake was all around me and there were some wonderful water shots. I just love hitting over the water. Unusual course with some tees jutting out over the water. Beautiful layouts everywhere. I can;t wait to go back. I'm out of state so it will be another year before I go there.
Terrible, avoid!
Started poorly, couldn't find my tee time. That got worked out and went to what they call a range - it isn't much. Then the putting green was fairly nice but during my putting I was asked 5 times my name for a tee time. Then at 9:10 he ask again and says we are on the tee. No I tell him it's 9:20. The course was terrible, hardly any grass in the fairways. If you miss the fairway then finding your ball is a challenge since there are sticks everywhere. Haven't cleaned up in a while. Greens haven't been mowed in a couple of weeks and we're very slow. Putts tracking to the hole would hit something and bounce up and off line. I will never go back. Horrible experience.
Fun course, nice views and extremely friendly staff!
I thought that that staff was extremely friendly... Rich in the pro shop extremely courteous and took the time to explain the layout of many of the holes. Food in the club house was very good and reasonably priced. Next time I am in the area I will try to play here again as you need to know the blind spots. Many holes offer extremely beautiful views of the water.
Layout around the lake is very nice. Only real complaint is fairways are packed hard and
Sandtraps needed more sand. Golf course personnel are very nice & helpful to you. Food is great.
Great course and layout!
I come here often either to play or to just hit some balls on the range and this is a great course and at a great pace.
Really fun layout
Surprisingly fun layout. Greens were in great shape despite playing in February.
Only gripe is that there are many blind tee shots which I could envision becoming a problem on a busy day as it was frequently not apparent that the group ahead had cleared.
Pete dye great course!
There is a hole on this course that is exactly like hole 18 at TPC sawgrass.
I kinda felt like I was at sawgrass at times.
Greens are real hard of course thanks to Pete dye.
Fairways wide open .
Unbelievably I didn't lose a ball with all the water.
We will be back for sure!
Good
Good course. Lot of pine needles in most greens but greens in great shape.
2 of us caught up with a group of five. Ranger saw and avoided them and us, as usual.
