Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
Oak Hollow Golf Course is one of two municipally owned golf courses in High Point, N.C. This Pete Dye design is the newer and more popular of the two. The layout features several Dye signatures including pot bunkers and railroad ties but it's the small, undulating greens that are the most recognizable Dye trademark. The golf course has an interesting mix of holes, including several risk-reward opportunities. It's a course that will make you think, rewarding strategy and accuracy over might. The signature hole is the par-4 sixth. This 420-yard hole wraps around a lake with an island tee at the tips that will test the brave. Oak Hollow's toughest hole, though, is the 437-yard 11th, also a par 4. You'll need a perfectly placed tee shot and then after you're met with a triple-tiered green that sits along the water's edge.

Slow
Course was in great shape , but the pace of play was too too slow 6 hrs to play 15 holes !
Great Experience
I am beginning to play golf again after taking a few decades off.
While I am not an expert, I really like the course. It is visually attractive. I like the water holes. It has quite a few.
To me, everything looked great.
Great layout
Great course and great layout. Lots of holes are along Oak Hollow lake and has great views. The pace of play is really slow and the greens and fairways were aerated.
great senior value
Oak Hollow indicated that they just punched the greens and offered a walking 18 hole senior rate of $13, an excellent value. The conditions were excellent. I got out as a single ahead of two foursomes. The players assistants, especially Jay on the first tee, are very friendly. The staff checked me in promptly. Where else can you play a Pete Dye municipal course in North Carolina? Nowhere!!!! The women in the grill provided a nice Arnold Palmer (iced tea and lemonade) at the turn for a great price. I enjoyed my round. Pace of play on weekdays is great, getting around in 3 1/2 hours!!! I would highly recommend Oak Hollow to anyone seeking a quality round of golf at a reasonable price, with great conditions. The scenery is terrific, especially holes 4-6 around the lake. Thank you.
Nice scenery
Played this course many times, but this is the first time that I could remember playing it cart path only. This is one of those desperately wanting to place golf knowing that there's been so much rain. Can't take anything away from the course it played slow and there were putts that didn't reach the hole. Since I have played this course before, I have to tell you if you haven't played it do yourself a favor and give it a try. This course can play as tough as you want, but still fair for those that don't like tough.
Conditions for the winter
Course was in good shape for late November. Greens rolled true and a little faster then normal which was a pleasant surprise.
Nice course for the price.
Paid $21 for a 12:08 tee time on a cold, windy Sunday. For that price, it would be hard to find a better deal. I probably wouldn't pay more than $35 for this course. Great layout with multiple holes along a lake. It is an early Pete Dye design, and is worth playing just for that. Greens were in good shape. A few of the tee boxes were pretty bare. Fairways were in decent shape also. If you come here not expecting perfect conditions, then it is a great deal at under $25 on a weekend. Not many peole on the day we played, but it is usually very busy, and pace of play can be an issue.
This Course was great
Course was in really good shape considering all the rain we have had, and for the money we paid on golf now just made it even better for this qaulity of a course.
Wednesday 12:24 tee time
With all the rain we had late Sept/early Oct, tee to green great. But several greens were not rolling smoothly. Between me and playing partner, lost 5 to 6 strokes with putts tracking in, but bumped off line, especially downhill slow speed situations.
Challenge with Great views
This course was great to play at. The views here give you an overall great golf experience. I booked with golfnow.com for $12.00. So for the money I couldn't have got a better deal. I played on 9/24/15 and the greens were a little sandy as they just aerated about a week ago but with 9 one putts I can't complain. They rolled consistently. The fairways didn't have any work being done to them as many courses do this time of year so that was a plus.
Too hard for me!
Played on Labor Day and they were so busy my threesome had to wait for carts. The course was in nice shape but it is much too hard of a course for me and my friends. Not the course's fault, of course, but I'm just not a good enough golfer to play there, and have fun.
Awesome Course
Most courses right now are still recovering from winter burn but this course is the place to go if you want to play a beautiful course but has its challenges!!
Tough course with wonderful features
Loved the Pete Dye design. Greens played very slow. Staff not so great.
Better than expected
Considering fairway conditions of other courses in the area, this one far exceeded expectations. Still a few dead spots, but overall in good condition. Greens slower than others, but are true. As in a prior review, appears several disregard repairing their ball marks on the greens. Great design and views. Recommend playing blue tees to make the course a little more of a challenge and use more of your clubs.
I always enjoy my round at Oak Hollow
The fairways are recovering nicely from the winter kill with only a few patches of dead areas here and there. Critical landing areas in the fairways were in good condition. My friend and I walked 9 and got around quickly which was expected for a late afternoon round.
I have played Oak Hollow many times and I love the layout and the course stays well maintained year round. My issue is with the greens. How do I accurately describe the greens during my last few rounds? Furry, slow as molasses, and pock marked like the surface of the moon. Please, please speed up the greens!
I'm not saying I don't enjoy my rounds at the course, but the green speeds are WAY, WAY TOO SLOW. Also, apparently everyone forgets how to fix their ball marks when they play here. Obviously, firmer greens would help this situation too.
Play the course; it's fantastic. Just remember to give the ball a little more with the putter than you think is necessary.
Good course, poor customer service
I have played here once before the week prior and it was and enjoyable experience. This time was different. I checked in and went out as a single. After 3 groups politely let me play through in 9 holes I started number 10 on the same tee as a foursome. After playing behind them for a hole and a half and them not let me play through I patiently waited on the ranger to come around and tell them to let me go. After another hole behind them and no sign of a ranger I decided to turn around and go home. As I drove my cart past the clubhouse I looked to my left and saw a tent with 3 carts underneath it. Two saying player assistant and one saying start. I guess basking in the sun is more important than pace of play. Sorry to say I won't be back.
Good condition
The course was in good condition and shape for the type of weather we have had in the last couple of months.
Good course but terrible pace of play.
I had a tee time at 208 pm. Then the staff said a group played back 9 to begin with So the staff
bypass that group front of us. I mentioned that we had 208 pm tee time. And when that group get to the 2nd hole, that 4 some split into 2 some. Took us to finish a round of golf in 5 hours and half!
excellent design in need of TLC
As noted by others, this course has an excellent routing around the lake. However, the fairways are patchy at best. The greens are in better shape but few people bother to fix their ball marks. I repaired 3-4 on each green and couldn't put a dent in their numbers. All in all though for the price this is an excellent value.
