Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
Oak Hollow Golf Course is one of two municipally owned golf courses in High Point, N.C. This Pete Dye design is the newer and more popular of the two. The layout features several Dye signatures including pot bunkers and railroad ties but it's the small, undulating greens that are the most recognizable Dye trademark. The golf course has an interesting mix of holes, including several risk-reward opportunities. It's a course that will make you think, rewarding strategy and accuracy over might. The signature hole is the par-4 sixth. This 420-yard hole wraps around a lake with an island tee at the tips that will test the brave. Oak Hollow's toughest hole, though, is the 437-yard 11th, also a par 4. You'll need a perfectly placed tee shot and then after you're met with a triple-tiered green that sits along the water's edge.

Great layout
Tough course from all the way back. It's a muni and they keep it in the best shape they can. Great layout though with several holes on the lake.
Fun round
The course was in pretty good shape. The greens had not been mowed so they were very slow. The course has a lot of hills and dog legs so you have to be careful not to drive through the fairway. There are no side by side holes so hitting right or left can get you into trouble easily. There is lots of water, but I was not intimidated by it. Played moved very well for a Friday morning and it was about a 4 hour round. Overall I enjoyed playing this course and will come back to play here again.
Good muni
Oak Hollow is a very good muni and the prices are very reasonable. The fairways and tees are in good shape. Especially the fairways. The course has several doglegs and blind shots. It definetly would have helped to have played the course before. Several of the greens were severely elevated. So it was tough to know how far to hit the ball. I hit a few shots on the nose that I thought were good shots. Only to find them through the fairway in the trees. There are not a lot of bunkers but they are in good shape and strategically placed. My main complaint were the greens. They were a little slow. And they looked really nice. But they were very bumpy. They need to be rolled badly. They were cleat marks and ball marks every where that affect your putt. For the price ($33 on a Sunday) however it's an interesting enough course to be worth a play.
Defiantly will be back
Beautiful course and the value is incredible. Very friendly staff that were helpful. There is a small luncheonette inside, which is nothing special but I would eat there again. This is a long course and if you can really drive the ball its perfect for you. I will be back and would highly recommend.
Better than last year
Better winter helped the fairways comeback that were lost last year. Greens were a little slow and shaggy but ran smooth. Once we got by the two fivesomes that let out on a Friday morning we cruised.
Father/son time
Not my favorite course but that is a personal problem (very challenging to me). We play here a couple times each year and it always kicks my butt! The starter wasn't very personable but the Ranger is a nice guy, we always enjoy chatting with him. A group in front of us slowed the pace down but when they stopped at the clubhouse we were able to get by and didn't have any more problems.
It was average.
Nice course, challenging. Well up kept. Staff doesn't mind telling you off when playing 5 to keep the pace up. But when 2 groups of riders get stuck behind a walker and rider...no one wants to tell them to let us pass since we are literally on the tee box as their walking off the tee box.
Green is so good..
It was fun to play golf not to much delay tee up every hole on Saturday..
Also, green is little slow with raindrops.
We enjoyed chilling time outdoor..
It might be better more specials on Saturday..
Slow
Course was in great shape , but the pace of play was too too slow 6 hrs to play 15 holes !
Great Experience
I am beginning to play golf again after taking a few decades off.
While I am not an expert, I really like the course. It is visually attractive. I like the water holes. It has quite a few.
To me, everything looked great.
Great layout
Great course and great layout. Lots of holes are along Oak Hollow lake and has great views. The pace of play is really slow and the greens and fairways were aerated.
great senior value
Oak Hollow indicated that they just punched the greens and offered a walking 18 hole senior rate of $13, an excellent value. The conditions were excellent. I got out as a single ahead of two foursomes. The players assistants, especially Jay on the first tee, are very friendly. The staff checked me in promptly. Where else can you play a Pete Dye municipal course in North Carolina? Nowhere!!!! The women in the grill provided a nice Arnold Palmer (iced tea and lemonade) at the turn for a great price. I enjoyed my round. Pace of play on weekdays is great, getting around in 3 1/2 hours!!! I would highly recommend Oak Hollow to anyone seeking a quality round of golf at a reasonable price, with great conditions. The scenery is terrific, especially holes 4-6 around the lake. Thank you.
Nice scenery
Played this course many times, but this is the first time that I could remember playing it cart path only. This is one of those desperately wanting to place golf knowing that there's been so much rain. Can't take anything away from the course it played slow and there were putts that didn't reach the hole. Since I have played this course before, I have to tell you if you haven't played it do yourself a favor and give it a try. This course can play as tough as you want, but still fair for those that don't like tough.
Conditions for the winter
Course was in good shape for late November. Greens rolled true and a little faster then normal which was a pleasant surprise.
Nice course for the price.
Paid $21 for a 12:08 tee time on a cold, windy Sunday. For that price, it would be hard to find a better deal. I probably wouldn't pay more than $35 for this course. Great layout with multiple holes along a lake. It is an early Pete Dye design, and is worth playing just for that. Greens were in good shape. A few of the tee boxes were pretty bare. Fairways were in decent shape also. If you come here not expecting perfect conditions, then it is a great deal at under $25 on a weekend. Not many peole on the day we played, but it is usually very busy, and pace of play can be an issue.
This Course was great
Course was in really good shape considering all the rain we have had, and for the money we paid on golf now just made it even better for this qaulity of a course.
Wednesday 12:24 tee time
With all the rain we had late Sept/early Oct, tee to green great. But several greens were not rolling smoothly. Between me and playing partner, lost 5 to 6 strokes with putts tracking in, but bumped off line, especially downhill slow speed situations.
Challenge with Great views
This course was great to play at. The views here give you an overall great golf experience. I booked with golfnow.com for $12.00. So for the money I couldn't have got a better deal. I played on 9/24/15 and the greens were a little sandy as they just aerated about a week ago but with 9 one putts I can't complain. They rolled consistently. The fairways didn't have any work being done to them as many courses do this time of year so that was a plus.
Too hard for me!
Played on Labor Day and they were so busy my threesome had to wait for carts. The course was in nice shape but it is much too hard of a course for me and my friends. Not the course's fault, of course, but I'm just not a good enough golfer to play there, and have fun.
