Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
Oak Hollow Golf Course is one of two municipally owned golf courses in High Point, N.C. This Pete Dye design is the newer and more popular of the two. The layout features several Dye signatures including pot bunkers and railroad ties but it's the small, undulating greens that are the most recognizable Dye trademark. The golf course has an interesting mix of holes, including several risk-reward opportunities. It's a course that will make you think, rewarding strategy and accuracy over might. The signature hole is the par-4 sixth. This 420-yard hole wraps around a lake with an island tee at the tips that will test the brave. Oak Hollow's toughest hole, though, is the 437-yard 11th, also a par 4. You'll need a perfectly placed tee shot and then after you're met with a triple-tiered green that sits along the water's edge.

Perfect Day Photo submitted by Zippy0058 on 10/17/2016
Poor course management
I do not recommend going to this course, the course was dry in the fairways and they wouldn't let you drive on the fairways, they had way to many people on the course at one time, took us 2 almost 2 hours to play 6 holes, we just took our losses and left cause it was taking forever, there are much better courses that you can choose from then playing here
Great course
It's January and the course is in great shape. No complaints whatsoever. The snack bar was a welcome stop. We expected slow play but was surprised as they everything moving.
Nice tight course
Greens were about a 7 out of 10 but should only get better since the heat has left. Lot of tight driving holes so you have to hit something straight or work it both ways. Enjoyable course to play, staff were excellent. Will return when I can
Perfect Day
Absolutely perfect weather day for golf. Course was in decent shape and greens were a lot better than the last time i played there. Courteous staff and friendly people in the snack bar. I will probably come back as the views of the lake as you pass it are spectacular. Just enough water to be challenging.
Oak Hollow
Nice layout but greens are not up to par
Classic Pete Dye
rare I get to play bent greens anymore.. very true and soft with good hold and spin. lots of tricky greens and pin locations. approach shot accuracy is critical. very hilly with some blind approaches and elevated greens. scenic to top it all off with a beautiful lake that border several holes. highly recommend for lower handicap golfers and bring your A game.
Oak Hollow
The course is nice but kind of long particularly for women. Roughs close to fairway an around greens are pretty thick an high. But it was a nice course.
We did get a rare opportunity to hear Kenny G warming up for the upcoming jazz festival at the nearby park! It was super cool!!
Up and down
I really like this course layout, so I will be back. They need to do something about slow play on the course. They have a starter and a ranger, neither really seems to do anything. The guys inside the proshop don't really seem to want you in there to shop or anything. Just a weird group. But like a said before, I love this layout and I will continue to play here no matter who they have running it.
Wonderful
I have played this course several times this summer and with the intense, consistent heat in the area, Oak Hollow is in fantastic shape. The superintendent has done a wonderful job in keeping grass on the bent grass greens and great fairways.
The staff is friendly and helpful from the golf shop to the golf starter.
Tough from the tips
You best have your a game when you play in the fall. The greens will challenge you. Short overall with knowledge you can score. My favorite in the area.
Nice round!!
First time to play. Enjoyed the course, but greens were very slow. Staff was friendly and helpful. Nice layout of course. Hope to play again!!
Great playing partners
The greens was a little slow, but overall the course was in great shape. Hooked with 3 really good guys and we had a great time, play in just 4 hours.
Great layout
Tough course from all the way back. It's a muni and they keep it in the best shape they can. Great layout though with several holes on the lake.
Fun round
The course was in pretty good shape. The greens had not been mowed so they were very slow. The course has a lot of hills and dog legs so you have to be careful not to drive through the fairway. There are no side by side holes so hitting right or left can get you into trouble easily. There is lots of water, but I was not intimidated by it. Played moved very well for a Friday morning and it was about a 4 hour round. Overall I enjoyed playing this course and will come back to play here again.
Good muni
Oak Hollow is a very good muni and the prices are very reasonable. The fairways and tees are in good shape. Especially the fairways. The course has several doglegs and blind shots. It definetly would have helped to have played the course before. Several of the greens were severely elevated. So it was tough to know how far to hit the ball. I hit a few shots on the nose that I thought were good shots. Only to find them through the fairway in the trees. There are not a lot of bunkers but they are in good shape and strategically placed. My main complaint were the greens. They were a little slow. And they looked really nice. But they were very bumpy. They need to be rolled badly. They were cleat marks and ball marks every where that affect your putt. For the price ($33 on a Sunday) however it's an interesting enough course to be worth a play.
Defiantly will be back
Beautiful course and the value is incredible. Very friendly staff that were helpful. There is a small luncheonette inside, which is nothing special but I would eat there again. This is a long course and if you can really drive the ball its perfect for you. I will be back and would highly recommend.
Better than last year
Better winter helped the fairways comeback that were lost last year. Greens were a little slow and shaggy but ran smooth. Once we got by the two fivesomes that let out on a Friday morning we cruised.
Father/son time
Not my favorite course but that is a personal problem (very challenging to me). We play here a couple times each year and it always kicks my butt! The starter wasn't very personable but the Ranger is a nice guy, we always enjoy chatting with him. A group in front of us slowed the pace down but when they stopped at the clubhouse we were able to get by and didn't have any more problems.
It was average.
Nice course, challenging. Well up kept. Staff doesn't mind telling you off when playing 5 to keep the pace up. But when 2 groups of riders get stuck behind a walker and rider...no one wants to tell them to let us pass since we are literally on the tee box as their walking off the tee box.
Green is so good..
It was fun to play golf not to much delay tee up every hole on Saturday..
Also, green is little slow with raindrops.
We enjoyed chilling time outdoor..
It might be better more specials on Saturday..
