Oak Hollow Golf Course
About
Oak Hollow Golf Course is one of two municipally owned golf courses in High Point, N.C. This Pete Dye design is the newer and more popular of the two. The layout features several Dye signatures including pot bunkers and railroad ties but it's the small, undulating greens that are the most recognizable Dye trademark. The golf course has an interesting mix of holes, including several risk-reward opportunities. It's a course that will make you think, rewarding strategy and accuracy over might. The signature hole is the par-4 sixth. This 420-yard hole wraps around a lake with an island tee at the tips that will test the brave. Oak Hollow's toughest hole, though, is the 437-yard 11th, also a par 4. You'll need a perfectly placed tee shot and then after you're met with a triple-tiered green that sits along the water's edge.

Could Be Better
Always enjoyed the layout of this course. Following some rain this was a tough one. Greens very slow. Fairways and tee boxes needed some help. Some bare spots along the fairways. It’s a challenging Pete Dye design. A few of the par 5 holes are a good challenge.
Well worth the trip
We played on a Sunday morning so it was busy. It started out moving slow and pretty much kept at that pace. Due to rain early in the week it was 90 degree off cart path, so that did not help the pace of play.
The course is definitely a challenge, lots of false fronts and greenside bunkers.
I rated the off course amenities fair because its really just a lunch counter not a bar/lounge. Basic food service and beer available.
All staff were extremely nice (pro shop, player assistants, starter and food service)
Great course way too crowded
The course.was packed for a Monday morning. Apparently the tee times started at 10:00 due to maintenance. Our tee time was at 10:50. They were sending foursomes off every five minutes instead of the usual 8-10 minutes. Unfortunately this led to waiting on every hole and a backup of 2-3 foursomes on certain holes on the front nine. This led to a two hour and twenty minute front nine! For whatever reason the back was not like this ( my guess is a lot of golfers left after the first nine). Now the course was in great shape except for a few tee boxes, but all in all very acceptable. My only other gripe was it was 80 degrees out and they didn’t have any water out in the three locals they have dispersed throughout the course for water coolers. Hopefully Monday was an anomaly and I just caught them on a rare bad day, because I live close by and play this course at least once a month.
Great value for Pete Dye design
Not many Pete Dye public options in this part of the world period, let alone this reasonable pricing. Great routing as you would expect from Pete, very scenic around a pretty lake, greens are a little severe in places (again not uncommon for Pete) but overall a great experience. I had not been out here since 2001 when it was course #546 on my quest to play 3000 different golf courses. @thequestfor3000 on IG. It was as good as I recall it being 24 years later.
Grass
Areas around a lot of the greens were more hard pan rather than grass that allows good, clean contact...greens were slower than usual, but that can be an advantage. I'll be back, always have
Decent Dye Job
The layout is challenging and features several elevation changes. Like most Pete Dye designs, it features tight landing areas, interesting approach angles, and crowned greens. The greens were surprisingly slow, but this may have been a result of having been recently aerated. There were also a few bare patches on the tee boxes, but this is a minor problem, easily solved. The staff are very friendly and the pace of play was excellent. We kept pace, and completed the 18 holes in just under 4 hours. If you are in the Piedmont Triad area, and looking to play 18 at a great price, Oak Hollow is a fine choice.
CRAZY
Crazy that they basically tell you that you have to play with other people, care nothing about pace of play I could've lapped the guys in front of me twice and played 36 holes. They made us/ forced us to play with another twosome. very annoying.
Beautiful views great value!
I have always loved this course. The fairways are currently bare and hard but the greens (aerified and dressed) are true and would be rolling great in about one week. If I lived closer I would play this Dye- design every week. This course is short but unforgiving for a spray hitter. Woods, water and trees make shot making a priority. The pace of play for the weekend was great as my group finished in under 4 hrs on a Saturday.
Is the golf course is fault
The golf course did not inform GolfNow that the course has been punched if they did, it would be on their site so it’s the golf course‘s responsibility to inform everybody, including GolfNow and reduce the price golf courses fault
Not the courses fault
Course had been punched and they were extremely apologetic when we asked why we were not informed.
This is a GolfNow issue. You need to make this info available on your site.
People will not use your site if this happens to them as it has to me.
Very disappointing
They just punched the greens on Tuesday and did not notify any of the players of the conditions of the greens, Would not have made a tee time If I would’ve known very disappointing
