About
Oak Hollow Golf Course is one of two municipally owned golf courses in High Point, N.C. This Pete Dye design is the newer and more popular of the two. The layout features several Dye signatures including pot bunkers and railroad ties but it's the small, undulating greens that are the most recognizable Dye trademark. The golf course has an interesting mix of holes, including several risk-reward opportunities. It's a course that will make you think, rewarding strategy and accuracy over might. The signature hole is the par-4 sixth. This 420-yard hole wraps around a lake with an island tee at the tips that will test the brave. Oak Hollow's toughest hole, though, is the 437-yard 11th, also a par 4. You'll need a perfectly placed tee shot and then after you're met with a triple-tiered green that sits along the water's edge.

Unfriendly, unnacomodating clubhouse employee
I often take my small kids (5yo and 3yo) golfing with me, really just to tag along and ride in the cart with me and putt on a few holes. I've done this over a dozen times at several different golf courses, including Oak Hollow. I signed up for a hot deal about an hour ahead of the tee time, and I was the only golfer to sign up for this time. As I'm checking in, an older man with a shoulder sling made a big fuss about me bringing my kids, telling me that they would at least usually require a cart fee, but that if they were bringing clubs, they would have to pay full price. I told him that I didn't mind waiting for other players to tee off if there were additional tee times behind me. He wouldn't allow it. I proceeded to use the putting green and watch as 30 minutes went by without another soul on the first tee box. He told me if I wanted a refund, I would have to call golfnow, which I did. I was on hold for 45 minutes before giving up and trying again later. I was finally able to get a refund to my account. This guy showed no concern for me or my small kids as they sat there obviously upset. It is rare that I get to take them on the course because of my work schedule, and they were each really excited today. This guy really put a damper on my kids' and my day. My other experiences at Oak Hollow have been pleasant, but one bad apple spoils the whole bunch. We won't be playing there again. Much prefer Blair Park, Winding Creek, or Bryan Park where the course employees are laid back and accommodating.
Great Course
For what you pay, this course is an exceptional value and very nice golf course with challenging but fair layouts. Very scenic and well maintained.

Greens need some work
The greens were in rough shape not because of staff. I have never seen a course with so many unfixed divots due to laziness on part of players. I counted over 10 unrepared divots on at least eight of the holes. This theme was consistent throughout the round. Not sure why players at this course don't repair their divots on greens. Staff was amazing though and course is very challenging.

Slow Play
5 hours is way too slow. Need a ranger who cares about pace of play instead of looking for balls

Great Course
Played course several times. Fairways and greens in great shape. Almost a links course, valleys, hills. Look forward to playing again and again!

Split tees don't work
On Saturdays they send groups off 1 and 10. We teed off on ten and played the back nine in 2 hours, which was great. But then, when you make the turn you're squeezed into the groups teeing off on one and the pace of play goes down significantly. It took us over an hour to play the first three holes and we hung it up. It seemed like it would take us three hours or more to play the second nine. I really don't understand the thinking behind the split tee starts. It always causes a traffic jam at the turn and I don't see how this is better for anybody. But the course is in pretty good shape and a good test as usual.

Fun Little Track
Great Pete Dye course. Layout and water views and strategy abound. Fairways and areas around green have a lot of Poa but that’s hard to control anywhere. Greens were a bit slow but that helps with undulating slopes in greens and makes it less penalizing. Overall a nice course and great bang for your buck.

On Par
Oak Hollow has long been a steady track on my list of courses to play. With the weather this year, they have done well keeping up conditions. Their issues are like that of most all public facilities with players being rude to the course ... unrepaired ball and scuff marks, an unfilled divots on fairways and tees.
However, it remains and will continue to be a favorite.
