About
Oak Hollow Golf Course is one of two municipally owned golf courses in High Point, N.C. This Pete Dye design is the newer and more popular of the two. The layout features several Dye signatures including pot bunkers and railroad ties but it's the small, undulating greens that are the most recognizable Dye trademark. The golf course has an interesting mix of holes, including several risk-reward opportunities. It's a course that will make you think, rewarding strategy and accuracy over might. The signature hole is the par-4 sixth. This 420-yard hole wraps around a lake with an island tee at the tips that will test the brave. Oak Hollow's toughest hole, though, is the 437-yard 11th, also a par 4. You'll need a perfectly placed tee shot and then after you're met with a triple-tiered green that sits along the water's edge.

Great Value
Played Oct 12 after a shotgun tournament earlier in the day. Played 18 in 3:40 with a 5 minute stop at the turn. Overall conditions were excellent but the greens had been aerated several weeks ago so greens were still somewhat slow and bumpy. Oak Hollow is a great value for the greens fee.

Great layout, slow greens, Great value
They take good care of this course. This is a city course but the people that run act like they are working at pebble Beach. I asked for an accommodation because I am a cacer patient and on immune suppressants. They gave me the hardest time about riding in a cart by myself. Besides the staff and pace of play it is a good course.

Terrific Value, Tranquil Location
The day before we played it rained 2" or more so it was cart path only, which was the right call. Pace of play was excellent and no one was 'pushing' us. Greens had not been cut due to the rain, so they rolled a little slower, but true. This course is located in an idealic setting. No highways, trains, planes overhead. Just beautiful views of the nearby lake. Will most certainly return.

Pace of play & grill
They were three of us & our tee time was 10:15, we teed off at approximately 1020. We didn’t finish until 2:50 PM. So the pace was very slow to say the least. The grill was closed so we couldn’t get breakfast. It didn’t open until the turn, due to outside workers coming in there to perform a task. But honestly, I don’t think the Golf Course knew they were coming and weren’t prepared. Other than that it’s a great set up and price.

Hot Labor Day
Enjoyed the layout, some pretty holes around the lake. Good variety, you’ll use all your clubs. Tees in poor condition but fairways pretty good, although dry with lack of rain. Greens were good, but I wish others would fix ball marks. 41/2 hours to play seems to be standard these days. Maybe one day having a ranger will actually help.

Mixed review
Wonderful and challenging Pete Dye course in a hilly terrain and beautiful lake views. Several holes play along the water and make for a memorable stretch. Greens in great shape for a public course. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately pace of play was terrible. Course ranger came thru at hole 9 and reported a slow group with 4 open holes in front of them. But he didn’t do anything about it! 2 1/2 hour front nine and on the back we picked up and jumped the slow groups and had to skip holes to finish the round in 5 hours. I don’t care how good or bad your game is, just play quickly! And the Ranger needs to be tough on slow groups or give the job to someone who will. All said, we are lucky to have this Pete Dye gem in our area so let’s make it a wonderful experience every time.

Great Course
It's always a pleasure to play this course. For the cost, its one of the best in the area. The holes that run along the lake are really nice. The course can be very challenging if the ball is hit in the wrong place, but it also offers scoreable holes.

Great Course, Just Slow
The course is a great layout, it’s challenging and I enjoyed the course itself. Also, the snack bar at the return is great. The only detractor was the pace of play. It took us 5.5 hrs to complete 18 holes, all because of two groups ahead moving at a snails pace. Don’t expect the Rangers/marshals to do anything about it either. Yea, it was a weekend and expectantly busy, but I have a problem when a round takes that long; especially on a hot day. Otherwise a great course, just maybe avoid on the weekends/holidays.
