Oak Hollow Golf Course

They were three of us & our tee time was 10:15, we teed off at approximately 1020. We didn’t finish until 2:50 PM. So the pace was very slow to say the least. The grill was closed so we couldn’t get breakfast. It didn’t open until the turn, due to outside workers coming in there to perform a task. But honestly, I don’t think the Golf Course knew they were coming and weren’t prepared. Other than that it’s a great set up and price.

Enjoyed the layout, some pretty holes around the lake. Good variety, you’ll use all your clubs. Tees in poor condition but fairways pretty good, although dry with lack of rain. Greens were good, but I wish others would fix ball marks. 41/2 hours to play seems to be standard these days. Maybe one day having a ranger will actually help.

Wonderful and challenging Pete Dye course in a hilly terrain and beautiful lake views. Several holes play along the water and make for a memorable stretch. Greens in great shape for a public course. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately pace of play was terrible. Course ranger came thru at hole 9 and reported a slow group with 4 open holes in front of them. But he didn’t do anything about it! 2 1/2 hour front nine and on the back we picked up and jumped the slow groups and had to skip holes to finish the round in 5 hours. I don’t care how good or bad your game is, just play quickly! And the Ranger needs to be tough on slow groups or give the job to someone who will. All said, we are lucky to have this Pete Dye gem in our area so let’s make it a wonderful experience every time.

It's always a pleasure to play this course. For the cost, its one of the best in the area. The holes that run along the lake are really nice. The course can be very challenging if the ball is hit in the wrong place, but it also offers scoreable holes.

The course is a great layout, it’s challenging and I enjoyed the course itself. Also, the snack bar at the return is great. The only detractor was the pace of play. It took us 5.5 hrs to complete 18 holes, all because of two groups ahead moving at a snails pace. Don’t expect the Rangers/marshals to do anything about it either. Yea, it was a weekend and expectantly busy, but I have a problem when a round takes that long; especially on a hot day. Otherwise a great course, just maybe avoid on the weekends/holidays.

I often take my small kids (5yo and 3yo) golfing with me, really just to tag along and ride in the cart with me and putt on a few holes. I've done this over a dozen times at several different golf courses, including Oak Hollow. I signed up for a hot deal about an hour ahead of the tee time, and I was the only golfer to sign up for this time. As I'm checking in, an older man with a shoulder sling made a big fuss about me bringing my kids, telling me that they would at least usually require a cart fee, but that if they were bringing clubs, they would have to pay full price. I told him that I didn't mind waiting for other players to tee off if there were additional tee times behind me. He wouldn't allow it. I proceeded to use the putting green and watch as 30 minutes went by without another soul on the first tee box. He told me if I wanted a refund, I would have to call golfnow, which I did. I was on hold for 45 minutes before giving up and trying again later. I was finally able to get a refund to my account. This guy showed no concern for me or my small kids as they sat there obviously upset. It is rare that I get to take them on the course because of my work schedule, and they were each really excited today. This guy really put a damper on my kids' and my day. My other experiences at Oak Hollow have been pleasant, but one bad apple spoils the whole bunch. We won't be playing there again. Much prefer Blair Park, Winding Creek, or Bryan Park where the course employees are laid back and accommodating.

For what you pay, this course is an exceptional value and very nice golf course with challenging but fair layouts. Very scenic and well maintained.

The greens were in rough shape not because of staff. I have never seen a course with so many unfixed divots due to laziness on part of players. I counted over 10 unrepared divots on at least eight of the holes. This theme was consistent throughout the round. Not sure why players at this course don't repair their divots on greens. Staff was amazing though and course is very challenging.

5 hours is way too slow. Need a ranger who cares about pace of play instead of looking for balls
