Emerald Lake Golf Club
About
Emerald Lake Golf Club is one of the Charlotte area's most popular public courses. True to its name, water is a prominent feature on the golf course. It's not just the water hazards that make this a tough course though. You'll be faced with strategically placed bunkers, sloped greens, and fairways tightly lined with trees. The golf course starts out gentle enough but by the time you get to the third hole, you'll be tested with a hole that plays right into the prevailing wind. This long narrow par 4 is one of the toughest holes Emerald Lake Golf Club has to offer. You'll get a brief break with the fourth hole, but the following par 5 is the signature hole. This risk-reward hole could result in a birdie if you play it smart, but if you go for the green in two and don't make it, you might be punished with a bogey

My father came along for the ride , not a golfer but was very impressed with the beauty of this course Photo submitted by Jamie5277593 on 05/02/2013
Nice layout
The course has a nice layout. The staff was very friendly, they have gas carts that are in good shape. A standard driving range. A small temporary pro shop.
It is a fairly simple course not many hazards or green side bunkers. The tee boxes were a bit worn, most of the greens have ball scaring and weeds, the sand bunkers don't drain very well as 3 of them had standing water and they were very hard.
Greens need work!
The greens on the front nine were terrible and the greens on the back nine were OK. The fairways were in great shape. The tee boxes were OK.
Solid course with water
Solid course with challenging hole placements. I would recommend to anyone who can deal with water on most holes.
Greens!
The putting greens needs some work! Lots of weeds and repair areas.
Great Value!!
Emerald Lake Golf Club always does a good job of welcoming you and offering a hassle free round. The layout is fair and sometimes challenging. Currently, the front nine greens are a little weedy and consequently a little rough but I did observe the staff working on them. For a relaxing day of golf, Emerald Lake Golf Club is a good value and fun to play!!
Good course
Played at twilight as a single, once passed a new golfer and his son played with another guy who played the course. Helped with some blind shots. Can't wait to play again.
First round was definitely not the last!!!
Payed $22 per player to play this course. It was in excellent condition for the money. Scenic, challenging at times but not too hard. Clubhouse was undergoing construction due to a fire but they had a snack cart running around all day... With pleasant eye candy and a great personality to boot I might add.
This was our first round at this course but not only will we be going back, but I would HIGHLY suggest to anyone considering to play this course. We LOVED it!
Nice Track
This was a fun day out on the course. Played in the late afternoon, course was in good shape but the greens need a little work. Fairways were in good shape and the pace of play was fine. All in all, I had a nice round on a wonderful day.
Emerald Lake: Sunday 07/06/2014
My gosh I've never seen the greens like this. I've played Emerald Lake a half dozen times and always raved about the beauty and quality of the course. Sunday was an utter disappointment. Greens had a fungus or were poorly handled as they had dead spots throughout the entire surface.
I brought a buddy and we paired up with another twosome on the first tee. We played behind a foursome of two gentleman and two ladies. VERY slow play. 4.5 hours at least it took for us to finish.
Starter fell behind 11 minutes at the first tee and it seemed to be disaster from there.
Course was in good shape besides the greens. Very, very disappointing.
Bumpy Greens
Seems like no one repairs ball marks. Greens were in poor condition.
Played 17 holes without seeing a cart girl (Saturday morning)
Course is simply OVER PRICED ($58.)
Love the greens!
Emerald Lake continues to have nice fast greens that roll true. This was the first time I had played the course in a while and it looked great. The only thing that confused me was the front nine and back nine have switched places!
They need a starter
The golf course is in pretty good shape, but you must have a starter and someone to keep the pace moving. You should always try to put people together instead of a single here a pair there and then to let your water coolers be empty at noon is unacceptable ! Oh did I mention there was a group of 6 yes 6 behind me and I was in a 2 person group and 6 kept up with us because of the number of singles and twos ahead of us ! This was a Wednesday you would think the pace would
Be quicker, no weekend there for me !
Punched greens but no discount or warning
I like Emerald Lake but wish I knew they had punched the greens before I booked the time. The holes were really small but greens were super slow.
Not that great
Pro shop guy friendly, starter was very friendly and accommodating, good guy. Some course workers, not all, need some serious training in etiquette and manners in general. 2 guys grooming traps either right in front off, on fairway, approaching me from behind hollering at each other never turned off equipment, driving through fairway as I prepare to hit. Never seen anything like it anywhere. Greens being watered were literally flooded, standing water from sprinklers on more than one and 15 totally flooded could not finish hole because they never shut water off. Wouldn't have mattered, unplayable. Finally get going and catch 4 older gents. I will be old someday so I do have respect and patience. They however made no indication or suggestion that I play through even with no one in front of them and me sitting there waiting for them to tee off and hit 3 or 4 more shots before I could go. Honestly to have to put up with such inconsiderate workers and players, it wouldn't matter if this course were stellar ( which it is not, it's average, dry hard fairways and slow greens) I may never play it again
Spring is here
The grass has sprung up in the fairways there. Emerald Lake is doing great work to clear our trouble areas. That has increased the pace of play significantly.
The greens are well taken care of and from what I hear major changes are coming to the course.
Nice Course
Haven't played this course in awhile. The back 9 is now the front 9. They still haven't re-built the club house which burned down probably 2-3 years ago so you check in at a trailer. Course is in good shape though, and the greens were rolling pretty good.
Great value
For the $25 hot deal price it is an unbeatable value. Course is in nice shape and looks like they're making continuous improvements.

Every aspect of the course was good or better except the fairways. The fairways were fair, grass was green, but either cut too low or needing a good feeding. Greens rolled nice, sand was raked and playable.
We will certainly play again.
Course is in terrible condition
the fairways are no better than a cow pasture. hardly any grass on the fairways, ground is very hard and alot of dirt spots. pace of play was terrible, took over 5 1/2 hrs to finish 18 holes. will not be playing this course again and definitely not worth the 42 dollars to play on.
