Emerald Lake Golf Club
About
Emerald Lake Golf Club is one of the Charlotte area's most popular public courses. True to its name, water is a prominent feature on the golf course. It's not just the water hazards that make this a tough course though. You'll be faced with strategically placed bunkers, sloped greens, and fairways tightly lined with trees. The golf course starts out gentle enough but by the time you get to the third hole, you'll be tested with a hole that plays right into the prevailing wind. This long narrow par 4 is one of the toughest holes Emerald Lake Golf Club has to offer. You'll get a brief break with the fourth hole, but the following par 5 is the signature hole. This risk-reward hole could result in a birdie if you play it smart, but if you go for the green in two and don't make it, you might be punished with a bogey

My father came along for the ride , not a golfer but was very impressed with the beauty of this course Photo submitted by Jamie5277593 on 05/02/2013
Decent but a bit overpriced
First time playing Emerald Lake. Excellent weather and staff was super nice with very few other players. The course layout was nice and challenging, but not overly difficult. The only negative was the course conditions. The greens and bunkers were in excellent shape, but the fairways were like playing on concrete and it was difficult to find a level place to tee up or hit off any grass. It was frustrating to hit a nice shot in the middle of the fairway only to find you were still basically hitting off of dirt. Due to the course conditions alone, I feel $42 a pop was bit over priced.
Sandy
Tee boxes were nothing but sand. Driving range also sand. Greens had sand on them, I suppose dressing. Bermuda still dormant on course so hard to say anything there. Best thing about the place was we played on a Wednesday during day and seemed to have course to ourselves.
Not worth the $$$
greens was sandy and plugged and no IA symbol on Golf Now. 42$ for a round at 2:00pm was for sure not worth that or the drive there. Unless it improves dramatically then save your money and go to Fox Den in statesville, Much better course and at a better price
Stacked up like poker chips
I was very disappointed in this weekends game. the pace of play was terrible. There were way to many people scheduled to play. We waited on every tee box and there were more behind us waiting for us.
Soggy Round
We played on a Saturday after about 2 - 3 inches of rain fell on Thursday. The course was very soggy and there was standing water in most of the bunkers. Trying to move the ball to a semi dry spot took you 15-20 yards from the initial position.
I've played this course in the summer and fall and it was great. I don't know if it just doesn't drain well in the winter but it was a mess on Saturday.
We paid for 18 and quit after 9 - the manager was very nice and gave us a 9 hole rain check.
Emerald Lake
Great course for the Money. The conditions are usually better but we have had some rain recently.
Nice track
I really liked the layout. Pro shop guy was very friendly. I would like to play it in the summer.
Emerald Lake Winter Play
We played a foresome Friday morning. Course was pretty crowded. Multiple twosomes behind us so we could not let everyone through. I would recommend a starter to pair up twosomes to facilitate a steady foresome pace of play.
Great course. Like the par 5s
Third time I have played this course using Golf Now. Course is in good shape, greens are good and rough not too thick.
Good fair course.
This was the first course I played when I returned to Charlotte. I like the course very much and would advise other golfers to play it.
Great challenging lay-out
This course is a must !!
If you up for a good challenging lay-out ,wanna find out if you can control a draw or a fade, whether you wanna hit driver or woods off the tee this is it,give it a shot, you'll be scratching your head I guarantee it.
Nice course for a pleasant round
Play 2 or 3 times a year. Always an enjoyable round. Clubhouse burned down last year, rebuilding not yet started.
aeration holes in greens
I liked the course but the greens had old aeration holes that made it hard for the ball to roll straight along with all the falling leaves on the course loved the difficulty and that staff was really polite and professional
This course gets better with the great working from the staff
They are constantly improving this course, great mantainence
Nice layout
Course has a great layout with rather easy and challenging holes. Greens had just been aerated but that happens this time of the year. Driving range is in nice condition and the 1st tee did not experience a backlog.
Good course
They have already aerated for the fall so the greens aren't in the best condition. Kinda sandy too but green.
Love it
Love everything about this course, especially as a novice. There is enough challenge, but playability as well. Some of the greens are a little worn out, but I saw no ill effects, they are still consistent. I would recommend this course for all skill levels.
Good course for the price
All in all a good course to play. Some greens needed work but considering the dry past few months they were in good condition.
Hidden Jewel !!
This course was a very plesant surprise. Very well maintained fairways and nice greens of varying sizes. A lot of work has gone into making this course a great place to play.
Really enjoy playing this course.
Love playing this course just feel that the rough is very deep and thick, makes it very difficult to find golf ball in it. Will still come back and play, staff was extremely friendly.
