About
Emerald Lake Golf Club is one of the Charlotte area's most popular public courses. True to its name, water is a prominent feature on the golf course. It's not just the water hazards that make this a tough course though. You'll be faced with strategically placed bunkers, sloped greens, and fairways tightly lined with trees. The golf course starts out gentle enough but by the time you get to the third hole, you'll be tested with a hole that plays right into the prevailing wind. This long narrow par 4 is one of the toughest holes Emerald Lake Golf Club has to offer. You'll get a brief break with the fourth hole, but the following par 5 is the signature hole. This risk-reward hole could result in a birdie if you play it smart, but if you go for the green in two and don't make it, you might be punished with a bogey

Nice course for a nice rate
95% of course was in good shape. Looks like greenskeepers have created some of the problems by running machinery through soggy areas and creating ruts near greens. Greens have a variety of bare spots, but not in a showstopper manner. Good afternoon rates. (Pace was OK, but had a twosome and then a single in the tee times before our foursome. Why?)
Slow play
Course was in good shape. Greens were very wet. Foursome in front of us was very slow and did not allow us to play through. The line behind us included a threesome and a foursome, all having to wait on every shot. At the turn, this foursome was nine holes behind the group ahead of them. No help from the staff!

Course condition
Very disappointed that fairways, greens,and rough had not been cut so all had lots of dew on grass at 9am

Great value
This course is in great shape. The club house and golf shop staff are very friendly and make u feel like your at home. The food in the club house is very tasty and they offer soft drinks, beer, and wine. Both bottle and a selection of draft beer. Around the greens it was pretty wet but the over all course is challenging and fun to play. Greens are in good shape, but ball marks needed to be fixed more. Overall great course.

Great experience
Course was in good shape. Greens had been recently punched but were coming in nicely. Long rough made for some challenging shots if you missed the fairway. Only issues i had was the wetness around the greens. Friendly staff and a great bar for food and drinks.

Great course
Course was in good shape. Thick rough made for challenging shots if you missed the fairway. Greens had been punch recently but were in good shape considering. Was wet around the greens a couple of bad areas but overall in great shape. Great value for an early Sunday tee time.

Excessive muddy fringes
The course was very wet, not sure why since it was more than a couple of weeks since it last rained. Given the amount of muddy around the greens and fairways really impacted the quality of play.. Per other reviews, the course superintendent and greens keeper are derelict in communicating the course condition to the patrons. When the course is in this condition, there should be communication and or some type of gratuitous given to the patrons.

Back nine closed
I booked the round via Golf Now and was not informed that the back nine was closed. There should be timely communication by Golf Now about abnormal course conditions. Golf Now did send an e-mail two days after the reservation was made that the greens were aerated. However, the notification was not timely enough for me to look for an alternative.

Soggy, Wet and no drainage
The management needs to have a serious look at the course, it is water logged and it hasn't rained in at least a week.

Good round
Enjoyed round, course in great shape except for greens, lots of bumps and ball marks. Found out upon arrival we had to play the back 9 twice due to aeration of front 9.

Greens a little rough
Great time greens struggling a little lots of divot marks not repaired and some bad patches but ball still runs pretty good

Course was fun
Tee box and fairways were great but greens need improvement. Greens were fast but bumpy due to a combination of grass, weed and dirt spots.
