About
Emerald Lake Golf Club is one of the Charlotte area's most popular public courses. True to its name, water is a prominent feature on the golf course. It's not just the water hazards that make this a tough course though. You'll be faced with strategically placed bunkers, sloped greens, and fairways tightly lined with trees. The golf course starts out gentle enough but by the time you get to the third hole, you'll be tested with a hole that plays right into the prevailing wind. This long narrow par 4 is one of the toughest holes Emerald Lake Golf Club has to offer. You'll get a brief break with the fourth hole, but the following par 5 is the signature hole. This risk-reward hole could result in a birdie if you play it smart, but if you go for the green in two and don't make it, you might be punished with a bogey

Best Value in Charlotte Area
There’s nothing like booking a tee time and getting out there to an extremely well maintained course and amazingly friendly staff...for abut $30. I will continue to come to this course time and time again.
Pretty solid 9!for $30
The greens were a bit rough. They ran out of carts so it took a while to get one and we couldn’t warm up. Overall it was a good deal though, and the course was great besides the greens.

Great Course
Second time playing this course since I moved here in Sept 2018. And loved the first time and loved it even more the second time around. Great condition....

Great deal
Folks will complain about the greens. They’re bent grass which is uncommon for the area. They’re just really soft so they get pitch marks very easily. Bring a divot tool and you’ll enjoy your round.

Greens in rough shape.
This course had a great layout but the greens are really marked up bad. And the cart we used was falling apart.

Great value!
Got a great deal on 18 holes of golf here. Course was in good overall shape with some muddy spot and very slow greens. Well worth the price!
Great layout
Course has a great layout, tees and fairways are in great shape. Greens are spotted due to hacks not fixing ball marks. Carts are well past their prime and needed to be replaced 3 years ago .

Great value!
Got a great deal for 18 holes. Course was a bit wet and muddy in some areas and greens were very slow and soft. Enjoyed the layout and thought the course was challenging. Will definitely be back!

Greens are not in good shape
Course itself was fine, rough was outlined nicely, fairways in great conditions along with the tee box. But man when you get to the greens! You can’t even find your divot because there are at least 20 out there on EVERY GREEN. Not sure where the maintenance went on the greens or who dropped the ball here. It’s declined tremendously over the course of the last 3 months. I will not be playing here again anytime soon - no wonder it’s $22 to play. You can’t put with it taking its own course due to hitting bumps and divots. It’s sad, I wish this wasn’t the case because I do enjoy emerald lake overall.
Lastly, took us 5 hours to finish, bunch of two sums and singles out there and we got stuck with a pair and ended up being a 4sum. It was ridiculous how long it took to be honest

Too much water.
Hard to write a fair review. I would normally complain about lack of handicapped flags, but areas near tees and greens soaked by watering and flag would not have been helpful.
Like the layout, except: The forward tee on hole 4 forces you to play a shot that leaves you worse off than a bad shot from the longer tees. 180 yard par 3 (16) from senior tees is silly.
Used to play here a lot and liked it. Something has changed and it is less fun.
Cart complains are valid.

Carts have holes in seats and feel like it won’t make it through 18, course says they were replacing months ago
Greens are horrible shape no one fixes divots and greens have so many divots it’s a joke
Bunker are like hitting off the cart path
Last time I played here the fairways were so wet you could not even hit a ball out of them

Sloppy and run down carts
I love the most of the set up of this course. The day I played it was so wet, Carr path only type day. The carts are gas and their seats are falling apart. My parking brake barely worked. If people pull the drive from the 15th (I think) you can be hit if standing in the 18th tee too long. So beware. I only say that because one flew right in front of me. Challenging course and fun. Enjoy the long par 3s.
Good hot round place

Greens at Emerald Lakes
Nice course layout. But to be perfectly honest, the greens look and roll like they’re beat up. There’s way too many divet marks and small patches on the greens.

Overall nice course, but needs more golf carts.
Overall nice course. They are short on golf carts. Had to wait 25 minutes after my tee time for a cart. Other than that, the course itself was fun.
