Emerald Lake Golf Club
About
Emerald Lake Golf Club is one of the Charlotte area's most popular public courses. True to its name, water is a prominent feature on the golf course. It's not just the water hazards that make this a tough course though. You'll be faced with strategically placed bunkers, sloped greens, and fairways tightly lined with trees. The golf course starts out gentle enough but by the time you get to the third hole, you'll be tested with a hole that plays right into the prevailing wind. This long narrow par 4 is one of the toughest holes Emerald Lake Golf Club has to offer. You'll get a brief break with the fourth hole, but the following par 5 is the signature hole. This risk-reward hole could result in a birdie if you play it smart, but if you go for the green in two and don't make it, you might be punished with a bogey

Ruined round
Horrible course conditions. Just horrible, the only words I have, carts were junk, our cushion looked as if a raccoon had pawed it all night, I should count myself lucky, playing partners broke down mid round.....Driving range was killer though !!
Course is too soggy
It hasn’t rained in over 3days, but the fairways are really soggy, they shouldn’t allow anyone to play. They are making it worse by letting ppl play

Rain has ruined the course
With the conditions of fairways, should have been discounted. Rain and allowing a tournament to drive carts in fairways on Saturday ruined the course. Otherwise, always loved the course.
Hi Stephen. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Emerald Lake Golf Club, we hope to see you again in the future.
Wet
Like most courses in the area it is wet. Charlotte has had 50%+ more rain than normal so the fairways are soft and you have to walk through 'wet' areas. I was hoping to play more - trying to play once a week but I think I will hold off until the fairways dry out. It is not fun when you are having to guard against taking too much turf, and walking from the cart path to your ball. Cleaning the ball after every shot - I am sure there are more but I only saw two (2) ball washers on the course.
Hello, Thank you for leaving Emerald Lake Golf Club a 4-star rating. Unfortunately, the weather has not been in our favor. Please come back again soon once the weather clears.
Great considering
They're still recovering from all the rain, but the course played quite well anyway. They need to move the range tees to where there is actually grass. The layout is a good balance of fair, fun, and challenging.
Hello, Thank you for leaving us a 5-star rating. If only we can control the weather. Book your next tee time with us soon.
Warm in February
Good day with unusually warm weather. Wet spots but decent shape
Hello, We've got to take advantage of this random warm weather. Thank you leaving us a 4-star rating. Book your next tee time with us soon.
One of the favs
Typical Value = 9/10
Unfortunately this course has taken a hit w all the rain and still needs to dry as of 2/6/19. Other than that issue, which can be serious at times, it’s my second favorite to play not traveling more than 5milies outside of 485.
I play here 3x a month so I’ve watched it get better but still needs time to heal.
Hello, We appreciate your 4-star rating and review and glad you liked the value for the money.
We hope you join us for another round soon.
Nice course layout
Seems to be an issue with Golfnow each time I show up .One your man was very helpful, rest of the staff showed no concern.........
Hello, Thank you for providing your feedback. We would like to apologize for the issue you experienced. We're always more than happy to help resolve any issue a golfer experiences at our course.
“Maybe July”
This course is notorious for holding water. Every course in Charlotte is playing regular or 90 degrees. This course is still cart path only and many players try and avoid playing here after rain. The course has a good layout and good greens. Challenging holes will make all golfers come up with a strategy for par. My other issue was I booked through GolfNow and the players I was paired with had somehow gone ahead. There was no starter to monitor groups going out. So I went out as a single and only played six holes. I was behind a single, twosome, and a threesome. Since, I was offered to pair up or play through I tried to go ahead with no luck. With the course still playing swampy conditions and no starter to pair players to uphold pace of play I will wait until the summer to play again.
Needs TLC
Hasn’t rained in 5 days and still have to tiptoe in the fairways. Cart path only. No grass on driving range. Balls were great and targets looked good but just needs TLC and drainage. Sloppy wet.

Hi Kirk, We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars. We hope you'll give us another try in the near future.
Nice course but.....
I love this course but it is in horrible condition and shouldn’t be played for months. The weather has destroyed everything out there. Either close or lower cost due to unplayable conditions.
Hello, Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is important to us. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game. We will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for your business.
Some Good Things & Some Bad Things
Emerald Lake has a mix of good and bad parts. Certain holes (mostly on the back nine) are creative with doglegs and water, but some holes are unnecessarily narrow near the greens that make approaches difficult. The remaining ten or so holes are pretty forgettable. Conditions on this day were incredibly wet and soggy, though that may not just be the course's fault. At just $25 for an afternoon weekend, the price is about right, but the off-course conditions left something to be desired. The grass range and putting green worked fine, but no short game area, a poor clubhouse with limited character, and perhaps the worst carts I've ever seen. It's public golf: some good things and some bad. Don't think I'll rush back anytime soon.
OVERALL: 5.7/10

Muddy fairways
Love this course, played it several times and will in the future, but the fairways were horribly muddy. They should have shut down till they dried out. Staff is great, course is normally excellent. I would call and see if fairways dried out before booking.
Thank you for the great feedback! We are sorry to learn the fairways were too muddy on this day. We hope you'll book your next tee time with us soon!
Greens and carts were worst ever
Terrible conditions. Not worth the money. Very much a goat field that is overpriced. Will not be going back.
Great course
Had a great time. One of my favorite courses. Very wet today but no fault of theirs. Greens are in good shape.
We're glad you had a great round with us! We hope you'll book your next tee time with at #EmeraldLakeGolfClub soon.

Playable and friendly
Emerald Lake is a player friendly course that is in good condition and not too difficult. The greens, tee boxes and fairways are in good shape and the rough is not too penalizing. The only problem was there were no restroom facilities for my lady playing partner on the front nine.
We're glad you found Emerald Lake a good course for players of all levels. We hope you both come back soon for another round.
Thank you for your 5-star rating! Book another round with us soon.
