Emerald Lake Golf Club
About
Emerald Lake Golf Club is one of the Charlotte area's most popular public courses. True to its name, water is a prominent feature on the golf course. It's not just the water hazards that make this a tough course though. You'll be faced with strategically placed bunkers, sloped greens, and fairways tightly lined with trees. The golf course starts out gentle enough but by the time you get to the third hole, you'll be tested with a hole that plays right into the prevailing wind. This long narrow par 4 is one of the toughest holes Emerald Lake Golf Club has to offer. You'll get a brief break with the fourth hole, but the following par 5 is the signature hole. This risk-reward hole could result in a birdie if you play it smart, but if you go for the green in two and don't make it, you might be punished with a bogey

My father came along for the ride , not a golfer but was very impressed with the beauty of this course Photo submitted by Jamie5277593 on 05/02/2013
Coming Along
This course is coming along pretty nicely. Unfortunately they suffer from what all courses suffer from.....golfers that are either too lazy to repair ball marks or they don’t know how to do it correctly. It’s beginning to become a problem with these greens but for now they are still ok.
This course is well maintained
It was Fathers Day so pace of play was slow....to be expected.
Greens had been aerated but evidently this is done frequently at this course to maintain its quality.
Great course
Love the course; been playing it for years. However, if the rough could be cut down it would speed up the pace of play tremendously. Us amateurs don’t always hit fairways and spending 5 minutes looking for a ball that is 3 yards off the fairway really slows down play. Still one of my favorite courses
Class act
I come to the Charlotte area a few times a year, emerald lakes is my new go to course.
One Of The Best
As other courses in the Charlotte area continue to struggle from winter kill, Emerald Lake was in great shape. Fairways were lush, rough was rough as it should be and greens were in good shape. While some of those other continue to charge high green fees with terrible conditions, Emerald Lake was a breath of fresh air. Always enjoyed the layout of this course.
Great Course - We’ll Maintained Public Course
Used GolfNow for a discount as the face rate is a little steep. One of the best maintained public golf courses. Bunkers were raked and greens rolled true. Not sure who is in charge of the carts, but all they all seemed in sad shape. Rips and tears in almost every cart seat I checked. Also they were slow to start and bad brakes. I checked about 15 and took the one with the cigar burn which had an intact seat. The course is worth it so get out and play!!!
Complaining sraff
We did have a great round at this course, but it took 6. HRs to play. One of the staff blamed the amount of people on Golf Now. They stated” Golf Now is why it’s so crowded “ They double book tee times and back up the course”
We love to use Golf Now so we can afford to play more golf, but we here a lot of negative comments from employees at the course about over bookings and how the course dose not make any money on a Golf Now group. I hope Golf Now will continue to be allowed to book times.
Wow
So far best public course in charlotte I’ve played.

Welcome green fairways
Greens were in great shape, fairways were green and plush, grounds keepers are doing great job.
Emerald lake is a gem.
First time. Good course. Planning on coming back soon. Conditions wonderful, great staff.
Great shape and good value
The course is in great shape aside from a few bunkers needing some TLC but that is just me being nit picky. Overall, the greens, teeboxes, and fairways were in great shape not to mention the new golf shop and event facilities. The course layout is fun with some tricky, tight holes but also has several holes that are wide open. There are too many courses In Charlotte charging way too much for the conditions of their course and Emerald Lakes is NOT one of them. Overall, was a great value and I plan on going back soon.
Hot deal, worth the price
Greens were in great shape. Pretty quick and rolled true. 5/7/18
Hidden gem?
Course layout and hole design... WOW! Pace of play was awesome considering we waited to tee off on 15/18 holes; but that gave us the chance to enjoy the view from every tee box! Shorter course that plays longer than the scorecard states because of elevation changes. Greens were unforgiving; recently aerated. Can’t wait to play this course when greens have settled in; even though they would not hold a hard spun 52 they were spongy and- hopefully- will react as such once we get into the summer.
Had not played there in a long time, the new clubhouse area is nice although the actual golf shop is small. The course was in good condition, greens were a still a little bumpy but all in all was happy.
Challenging layout
Friendly staff and very good food at the bar and grill. Course is still recovering from the winter.
