Monroe Country Club

Hadn’t played there in more than a year. I was very impressed with conditions.

Rough was a little longer than I would imagine but it was still very nice challenging rough. Fairways were by far some of the nicest I've seen in awhile. The greens played fast early on but rolled smooth and were in tip top shape. Well kept courses are hard to come by and this one is right now in amazing shape especially when greens fees are at a great price.

This is truly one of the most excellent courses in and around Charlotte. The fairways and greens were in immaculate condition and the overall course design is great. The variance from the front 9 to the back 9 provides a feel of playing at two different courses... both great.

The pace of play was on the slower side, but could have just been that particular day. The starter was a bit of a problem in my opinion.

I generally would not leave a negative comment, however, sending the guys ahead of us who were waiting on the guys in front of them to clear the 18th hole so they could tee off, along with my son and I who were waiting on them, were told we had to bypass the 18th and return the cart at 7:50p because karts were due back by 8p. So we got through the 17th, were waiting 10 min or so, then asked to leave.

I'll definitely play here again and I'm really looking forward to playing the 18th : )

The course was very well maintained. The tee boxes and fairways were excellent. The greens were a good bit above average. For the course relative to the price, this is one of the better values within an hour drive of Charlotte.

The pace of play was less than ideal (weekday). I was told there was a starter but he was not on the first tee box and groups were going off at will. Singles and duos not paired caused a lot of blockage. At one point we had 4 groups on a hole.

Will definitely play the course again soon.

Course is in great shape....tee to green!!

Typical Donald Ross design on the front 9....looks easy and then eats you alive if your off target.....not unfair but challenging....back 9 is easier and alot of fun....good mix!!

The layout is very different from front to back. The front is a an old Donald Ross layout, so shorter but tricky. The back is narrow and lacking in strategy. The greens throughout are well maintained Bermuda and fairly quick.

Course played really well. The layout is tight; there were times where we were being hit into from opposite tee boxes. Greens were well taken care of. Pin positions were tough! Hole #3’s pin is giving me shivers still. I found myself with plenty of unique shot selections, mostly of my own doing. Fun course!

The course was a bit soggy from heavy rain in the fairways and it was “cartpath only”. The greens rolled very nicely despite the conditions. Off the tee, most holes were very forgiving. (almost too forgiving!) The areas around the greens could provide a distinct challenge if you found yourself short sided. I played as a single, and this was a Friday morning tee time at around 8:45. I was done by 11:30. For ~$45, it was a great value. I’m glad I took a chance on playing the course and driving the 30 minutes to get there while in the area on vacation.
