Monroe Country Club

The layout is very different from front to back. The front is a an old Donald Ross layout, so shorter but tricky. The back is narrow and lacking in strategy. The greens throughout are well maintained Bermuda and fairly quick.

Course played really well. The layout is tight; there were times where we were being hit into from opposite tee boxes. Greens were well taken care of. Pin positions were tough! Hole #3’s pin is giving me shivers still. I found myself with plenty of unique shot selections, mostly of my own doing. Fun course!

The course was a bit soggy from heavy rain in the fairways and it was “cartpath only”. The greens rolled very nicely despite the conditions. Off the tee, most holes were very forgiving. (almost too forgiving!) The areas around the greens could provide a distinct challenge if you found yourself short sided. I played as a single, and this was a Friday morning tee time at around 8:45. I was done by 11:30. For ~$45, it was a great value. I’m glad I took a chance on playing the course and driving the 30 minutes to get there while in the area on vacation.

I played here second time. I and my wife enjoyed a lot. Very kind people and good course conditions.

Greens weren’t I. Good shape because of aeration . But that can’t be helped.

The front and back are totally different and is like playing 2 different courses.

Be aware they are aerating greens the week of June 5.

Love this course. Would've given it a 4 star, but the driving range is to far from the 1st tee box, and the staff is very RUDE. The pace of play was also horrible. I will play here again, only because the prices on the weekend are affordable.
