About
River Ridge Golf Club is one of the finest public golf courses in Raleigh. The course sprawls across 100 acres in the heart of the Triangle, it's an easy 15-minute drive from downtown Raleigh. The lush green of the course contrasts beautifully with the Carolina blue skies. Mature trees frame most of the holes and there are a few lakes that come into play. The rolling terrain provides plenty of ups and downs throughout the golf course. Accuracy will be generously rewarded but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The course's signature hole is the par-4 fifth, a 375-yard hole that can be conquered with smart play. Try to keep your long iron or fairway wood to the right of the fairway, which will give you a short iron approach into the green.

Great course!!
Just played River Ridge for the first time and loved it!! Fairways and greens (reasonably fast) are in pretty good shape, the staff was great, and the course played quite well. Some well designed and challenging holes, especially on the back 9. I will definitely play River Ridge again soon!!
Aerated Greens
Greens were aerated in the past few days. Pretty heavy sand coat.....but they putted ok, just slower than usual. The rough is nasty with all the rain we've had. Great layout.
Beautiful Course Lacking in Weather Policy
Overall a beautiful and challenging course that i look forward to playing again. On our particular day, we were the only group on the course because of tropical storm Chantal. This worked out great for us because two members of our party were very new so we could take our time because there was no one behind us. We didn’t mind playing in the drizzle and exercised extra caution to care and maintain the grounds between shots due to the weather.
Despite the lack of other groups on the course, we felt rushed when we received a notice a few holes in that we were behind the average pace of play. After nine holes they told us we couldn’t continue because they were closing the course due to the weather which was understandable from a greens keeper perspective.
Unfortunately, they refused to offer us any sort of compensation for closing the course and ending our round early. They also didn’t mention the possibility of closing early when we checked in despite it raining at that time. I’d play here again but would exercise caution if it rains or if playing alongside newer players who might lead the group to fall behind the recommended pace, regardless of if other groups would be impacted that, because from this experience the club won’t be very accommodating.
Great layout and condition
We had s great time at this course and the red Tee's were perfect for my beginner GF. The layout and greens were very playable and in great condition. I had a rough front 9, not that the course was that difficult, but I didn't have time to warm up on the range😅🤦🏻♂️. Rebounded with a 44 on the back(I shoot in the 90s). Will definitely try to make it again before I head back home to Florida.
