Fairway weeds. Not every hole was this bad, but most holes had some form of this. Even some greens had stuff like this. Photo submitted by blamege on 09/19/2022

Not worth the money
Course was in decent condition but just not worth the money. Black tees were not out on the day we played meaning the longest tee option was ~6300 yards, pretty disappointing. Making the turn you do not return to the clubhouse and there is only a tiny bathroom with a broken vending machine. No water stations anywhere on the course. For $70 which was a hot deal, normally more expensive I was very disappointing. Many nicer courses in the area for less money.
Gated community nightmare
If you don’t live within this community I would t waste your time here. It use to be a nice place to spend a little extra and play a really well maintained course outside of southern pines. I don’t know if new management took over or the Karen of the HOA finally work it out but if your and outsider you will know it. You will get the cold shoulder from the pro shop. You will be treated poorly. I use to really like the chance to play this course but I doubt I’ll ever play here again. GolfNow should just drop this course from the line up. They don’t want public golfers there anyways so might as well let them have it to them selfs.
Carolina Trace Creek Course
Great course with fun layout. The Creek Course is a little tighter to me than the Lake Course, but both are fun to play.
Very nice lake course with club house provide nice food
There are 2 courses including lake course and creek course. I booked the creek but I was told it will be got lost if it's first time. The reception suggested to play lake course which is not too challenging for me. It's nice in the last 9 holes with lake view. The club house with nice lunch set provided there. I will definitely will try the. creek one next time.
left us out their
the course was in bad shape --dry and hot.there was NO water on course for players and no cart personnel. and at the turn you didn't go pass the clubhouse.
Great course
Great course, I've played the course 6 times now and it's always a good time and challenging at times the layout of both courses are nice and usually beautiful but this time the senary was great dir to the draining of the lake. The pace wasn't great this time also some members were playing in front of my playing partner and myself and taking 10 mins or more longer on each hole and never let us through.....there was 5 of them! The guy in pro shop was not a nice as most before when I asked him about the lake he gave me some smart answer. I drive 1.5 hours to come play Here and ill be back
Spectacular Course in spectacular condition
We will definitely play this course again. Great course!
No good for the money
Played the creek course. Course was in very poor condition. Mud on many tee boxes and in a lot of fairways. Rough not cut in places at all. Club house staff was arrogant and rude. Will not play at this course again.
Great day; virtually had course to ourselves. Friendly staff inside and out. Directional markings a little confusing for first timer, and did not return to clubhouse at the turn (with no on course beverage/food cart). But not a big deal, and overall a really good experience.
Not as good as it could be…
There are two layouts, The creek course, and the lakes course. I was assigned the creek course.
The condition of the golf course was inconsistent. The greens are above average , they roll true and have good pace although they can afford to be a bit faster. The tee boxes were disappointing. Almost every one was overgrown, some more so than others. The fairways were ok.
The layout is rolling parkland, with changes in elevation and a few doglegs. Landing areas are wide, however there are plenty of uneven lines to had on several holes. Fairways are lined with trees, and the namesake creek wanders through the courses, coming into play on several holes. There is some water to contend with, and the 18th is a really nice hole, a downhill dogleg right par four along the lakeshore. It’s a decent layout
There is no beverage cart on the course, which is fine, however the only hydration Available on the course is a vending machine. That only accepts exact change.
I do like the fact that the golf course has a grass range. I think I might’ve preferred to play at the lakes layout. I was alone on the Creek course, had the whole thing to myself, no one behind me and no one front at noon on a Friday..
Not worth the money
When you pay over $100 to play golf, most folks expect certain things. This experience was not that. We played The Creek Course. The only thing that felt on par with the cost, was the gated license check in at the front of the community.
First of all, the course conditions were just ok. Greens are fine. Other than that, it was on par with a municipal course. Fairways were hit and miss in their availability of tight grass. More than half of the tee boxes were small and uneven, and a handful didn’t even have grass. There were very few directional signs. Not one tee area had a hole number sign or distances. No GPS on the outdated and barely running carts.
Now to the amenities, or lack there of. When we get there we are told that it is cart path only. Even though it had not rained for several days and it was 70 degrees. Then we find out that The Creek Course does not return to the clubhouse, and there is no beverage cart….. on a Saturday. They also offered no coolers or ice. So basically, grab a pack of crackers and your beverages will be warm by hole 8. Then there is the driving range …. It’s literally the size of a large backyard with 10 spots.
All of our players traveled over an hour, to spend $100 plus, to endure a $45 municipal experience. Tried it. Hated it. Won’t be back. Don’t waste your time and money.
Cart situation induced a real mess
Unfortunately the course was out of gas for their carts, and a long delay ensued as staff tried to gas them up. We got off 30 minutes after tee time along with everyone else who was waiting on carts. With no spacing of groups, pace was a mess...we played 9 holes and asked for a raincheck, and happily club obliged, so we'll go back a play it properly.
Enjoy the Course
Played the Creek Course at Carolina Trace for the first time in about a year due to the high green fees. Found a $60 deal and enjoyed playing there again. It was still winter, so the weather wasn't perfect, and neither was the course, but not bad given the time of year. Look forward to going back if not priced out.
