SAD, SAD, SAD
This is perhaps the worst course I have ever seen. Fairways were so bad!! Nice layout but thats about it sad they let it get this way.
Great Layout
The layout/design is very good. Course needs some TLC. Fairways are green with crabgrass. The greens had some patches of bare and diseased grass. Course had been aerated recently so hopefully the greens come back to a more healthy state. It was not crowded so the pace of play was great.
Great Value
With the extreme heat we've been having the past 4-6 weeks, the course was in decent shape. The greens didn't look that great but they still rolled very well. Most holes have wide fairways which is nice if you're not a "hit it down the middle every time" golfer, but there is still enough water and bunkers to get you into trouble if you're not careful. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. If you're looking for fancy, drive a little farther south. For the price, you'll have a hard time finding a better deal. Will definitely be playing again.
Going downhill
Unfortunately, the hot humid summer has impacted the last remaining positive of this course; they're losing many of the greens and some are showing noticeable patches of poa annua. The fairways are still very poor, as well. To make today's game a little more frustrating, the golf shop allowed a fivesome to tee off in front of us, at prime summer tee time, 8:30. This will be my last trip to Quail Ridge this year. I hope they are able to rescue the greens and put more into general upkeep because it can be a fun track when in good condition.
Bet it used to be a beauty
So, my daughter and I played on a hot deal for $10 a piece. Honestly, if I would have payed more AO would have been angry. The greens were fine for bent grass in the summer. Just a little crab grass here and there. However, in the fairways, you had to look really hard to find any sprigs of Bermuda. I'm sure this was a great course back in the day, but you can tell there is not nearly enough money to keep it a float. This Ellis Maples track could be so much more.
The greens were in good shape.
Thee greens were in good shape but the fairways need a lot of attention. A lot of weeds and bare spots.
Better lies in the parking lot
Flew to NC to visit my b-I-l for some golf. He just moved from California and we were looking T local courses to play. Very friendly staff, good pace of play , reasonable greens, but oh my the tees and fairways - wow. Have experienced this scrabble type of play anywhere.
But hey - we had some beers and had fun nonetheless.
Hidden Secret
A fun course with very fast greens, the pin placements always seem to be on a slope making putting a challenge , a nice place with a great staff
Challenging greens
Play this course often and the greens always give me a tough time. +7 on the greens this round.
Good layout, good value for money
The club house, or even the parking lot for that matter, isn't going to win any awards. It looks like it hasn't been touched since its original opening, but the course itself is the most important part and its a pretty decent layout. My friend and I brought along our 2 11 year olds and we all had a good day on the course. Its not in the best of shape, but its certainly not in terrible shape. I had an enjoyable day and I would play there again if the price was right, which it was when we played. This isn't a course that I would make long term plans to go play but it is a course I wouldn't mind heading out to if I was just trying to walk on or make a last minute tee-time. The fairways were usually pretty good and the greens weren't excellent but they weren't terrible either. The rough is a mix of different grasses usually. I was able to hit driver on many holes, with a chance to hit the green as well off the tee on many par 4s. I'd play it again with the kids for sure.
Interesting layout
Greens look like they could use some love (some weeds), but roll fine. Faster than you think.
Overall course could use some upkeep, but for the value it is great.
first and last
Dated and aged course. Diseased greens. Fairways natural watered no irrigation.
Great shape
Course was in great shape especially for the money
Much Improved
I've played Quail Ridge fairly often over the years just for the low price, decent greens and the course layout. I always overlooked the less than ideal fairway conditions because of that low price.
Now, however, the course is in better shape than I've seen it in years. Grass everywhere, and it's kept mowed nicely. No summer burn areas on the greens. Bunkers are worked on a regular basis.
Overall, it's the best deal around and you don't have to spend all day to get around it, the players there move pretty fast. I have walked 18 there many times in 3 hours.
Is it in Country club condition? No. But for what it is, it's pretty good these days.
I'd say come check it out and you'll change your opinion on Quail Ridge.
Quail Ridge experience
Course conditions were varied from fair on some holes to poor on others. No sand provided for divots. No water in coolers on course. Ball washers were empty. Greens were fairly chewed up. Tee boxes were hard and varied in grass height. Price for 18 holes was a bargain and there were very few people on the course even on a nice weather Saturday morning. Course has potential to be beautiful and challenging but maintenance is poor.
Best value for your money.
A very friendly staff welcomed us to the facility. There was no waiting to begin our round. The course shows its age, but it was in exceptional shape considering the recent weather that it has experienced this year. The carts are new and well maintained. The grill was not open the day we played, and no water coolers are available on the course, but personal coolers are welcome to supply you with your favorite beverages. I would highly recommend playing the course to anyone that is looking for an enjoyable and inexpensive golfing experience.
Getting better
The course looks better as the spring progresses and soon hopefully the front will be as good as the back.Played on Saturday the last couple times and the pace was a bit pedestrian. Other than that we got clear at the turn and enjoyed ourselves.
Fun course. Good greens.
Good challenge from the back tees. Greens were in good shape. Rolled smooth and not too fast, not too slow. Bunkers were also well groomed and plenty of sand. Bermuda was still dormant when we played but not many bare spots encountered. Lots of poa annua and rye clumps in the fairways and rough that should be dying out as the heat comes in the next month or so. Fun layout with an excellent pace of play. Will be back.
This course... Was open
Nothing fancy, was my first time here. Probably won't be back.
Course in very poor condition
Golf Now course synopsis states " Lush Fairways" & "Immaculate Greens"......... COMPLETELY WRONG & MISLEADING!!!
This, by all means should be editied. The fairways were more like cow pastures than "lush". and the greans had frequent dead patches. The cart paths (what there were of them) were in horrible repair.
FYI....poa annua will not grow in the summer heat, so the condition you are describing is not poa annua. It may be something else, but certainly isn't what you describe.
