love it
This course is fun and a little challenging. Beautiful in the summer. Fairways and greens always in great condition.
A Fine Course; Once
I am an Ellis Maples fan. I have played many courses designed by him. The golf course known as Quail Ridge, designed by Ellis, lies in the out most confines of "the Sandhills area" of North Carolina; a world renown local for great golf. Quail Ridge follows a lay of land that reflects the merge between the Piedmont and coastal plans areas of the state. Elevations can be great or small and change quite quickly, even from one hole to another in the same nine and, at times, during the same hole. This is a beautiful piece of property; it is a shame the owners (new ones since 2004) have allowed it to deteriorate to the point I found it today. As I played today I had the opportunity to watch the maintenance crews at work. Most of their equipment was decades old, yet each and every worker knew how to allow players proceed uninterrupted while maintaining their assigned duties. What a fine group of guys!. As for course conditions they were, let's say, recovering. The greens were recently punched and 'connect the dots' was the putt alignment strategy for the day. Tee boxes for the most part were nice; however, the "fairways" are in need of attention. The bunkers showed very little signs of use at all but the apron around them had not been trimmed for some weeks, at least on the front nine. (I found it more difficult to wade through the grass to the bunker than to hit a shot out of same.) As I was a guest of a paying partner, I had no contact with the clubhouse person behind the check in desk. (I personally had no contact with any club employee so I have nothing to say regarding staff; aside from the greens crew.) There are many areas of this facility in dire need of attention from a proper management company. The course itself is in great need of love and care. This is a course which has great potential, however, I cannot recommend the course in its present condition. I would like to see more from such a great piece of property with this fine course of Ellis Maples design.
Best back 9 for the money$$$
My experience at Quail Ridge was two parts. A worn out front nine and one of the best back nine holes I have ever played. The pace of play was somewhat slow however, the others players were courteous enough to let me play through. Just wish the front was in better condition.
An enjoyable day
Played with 3 other friends and had a great time. Weather was overcast and very humid. Staff was very friendly and engaged us in conversation. Course condition was 3 out of 5. We will def play again!
Best shape of the season.
Recent rains have helped the fairways become much better than they have all year. Golf now makes this a good value for the money. I often bring grand kids to play with me and the pace of works well for us.
very nice staff
Great place to play in the after noon after work, not to busy
been there done that
Tried Quail Ridge because we've never played there
Won't go back
Course in terrible condition,no water, greens in poor shape
Tough to play..
This has to potential to be a pretty decent course, but the fairways make it really hard to have good contact and consistent strokes.
The sand traps are pretty nice and placed well enough to require some tough shots to the pin.
$30 on GolfNow was too much; I wouldn't go back.
If you need a quick cheep round
The course is in bad shape. A lot of times you're hitting off dirt or crab grass. No one was out so I got around quick but the cart paths are rough. I would only go here as a last resort. A side note, however, the staff are great personable people.
Good Value
Have played this course numerous times over the past 17 years. Course condition, especially the cart paths, was average. Greens were in decent shape despite being aerated in the last two weeks and fairways were OK (much better than last time I played here). If you're looking for pristine and challenging course, this is not the one. But for $15 a round, it was a great value.
Course Needs Repair
Very friendly people working there. Potential for a nice course but maintenance is badly needed. Doubt that it's an easy fix.
horrible
To find out that the front was closed when we arrived, not good. To not really care that the front is closed cause the course is so bad, worse. Will not ever play this place again and would recommend that it be removed from the golf now rotation
Not Worth The Time
This is the worst course I ever played, the fairways are mostly sand and weeds and the greens are not much better
Needs some tlc
This is a nice course, but it could definitely use some T L C, fairways were lacking , greens were ok but not much grass in fairways
Very Nice Layout
Course has some great challenges and features. Greens are in good shape. Fairways need some work and I was informed and noticed they are being worked on. This is a great course and all courses that need alittle work need the support of playing/paying customers because incoming revenue is what makes the world go round. I think the course staff is really doing a great job for what they have available. Customer service was the best I've seen. Will play again. For 19.00 with a cart you can't really gripe about a lot of things to be honest. Fun course. It will improve I'm sure. Then they'll charge 29.00 and that's okay with me.
Terrible
Don't waste your time or money. Course was in terrible shape
Don't book
This course has not been kept up. No grass on most of the fairways. A simple amenity of water jugs on the course is not done. I wouldn't play there again even if it was free.
