Bare bones golf from a 10 hcp
Golf course with no frills- no grill, no water in the coolers, no bathrooms (I saw 2 port potties on the course) very basic pro shop.
Gas carts are nice but cart paths are in bad shape or non existent, fairways are spotty as of April 27 since Bermuda has not grown in. Par 3 tee boxes are ok. Hole side amenities leave a lot to be desired.
Course play-
Greens are nice (best part of the course) lots of roll and some tricky hole locations made them fun. The greens are also on the smaller side so a GIR is celebrated here. The course felt long from the tips, second shots were made tough from spotty grass in the fairway and un filled divots. Lots of fairways were not flat adding a challenge. Bunkers were above average and were playable.
I would play again as a discount course, bring extra water or drinks and hopefully the fairways fill in by may.
The fairway was not good.
The fairway was not good. Grass of course was not well managed. Undulating green was unusual.
Good for a quick drop in round on the go
My most recent experience here, unfortunately, was in the wake of a large snow melt and rains. While the day I was here was sunny and warm, the course was waterlogged and soggy most everywhere. Walking was difficult in such conditions, as was tracking down shots. I had at least 6 shots land middle of the fairway and only be marginally visible when approached as they were plugged well past the midline of the ball. I am hoping that this was more as a result of the recent wet weather, and not indicative of a recurring problem.
Otherwise, the layout was fine. Nothing too daunting or requiring that much imagination in terms of shot selection. It was a nice course to walk without too much by way of hills, and was enjoyable on the whole.
There is definitely nothing I'd write home about, but I wouldn't turn down and opportunity to play it again if I was on the road down that way.
good layout and fun to play
great value for winter golf ; had to hit all the shots; greens put well and in good condition - greens fast and some with a lot of slope back to front. I enjoy playing this course
Fun Golf Course
I have been playing at Quail Ridge for about 3 years off and on. This course in not a PGA quality couirse, but it is a great local giolf course with outstanding greens.. Some of the fairways could ise a little more grass, but overall I like playing there.
This course has been neglected in just about every aspect.
This course should be taken off the list. Fairways were not mowed. Both fairways & rough were infested with ants throughout the entire course. Majority of the tee boxes had very little grass and were covered with live grubs. The greens were shallow and scarred with many weedy areas. The building housing the Pro Shop has been left to deteriorate as well; coming off the 18th green you drive by a side porch of the Pro Shop that continues the theme of absolutely no desire to maintain this property. The course is by far the worst I have ever played on. It does deserve to by on your list.
great design
This ellis maples design is a lot of fun, but the course was in terrible condition. I rarely found any bermuda grass in the fairways. It was all weeds. It would take a lot of work to get this course where it needs to be.
fairways need attention
I couldn't tell the difference between the fairway and rough. The course is showing its age and needs upgrade. Unfortunately, I found that the sand traps were in great shape.
1st time / last time
I LOVE GOLF and it breaks my heart to give this review... however I owe it to my fellow golfers. This course is in (!)bad(!) shape. The fairways are a blend of weeds, the tee boxes look like land piranhas got to them and the greens are on the verge of a real tough summer. The range balls are 50%-destroyed lake balls and I hated hitting 'em. Again, I really dislike sharing this review but it was bad enough that I would golf elsewhere even if I lived on the course. The potential is there, as is it with most courses...it will just take some $$$
Goat Track
Fairways were horrendous! The epitome of a goat track. Somehow the greens were ok. Don't pay more than $12-$15, it's not worth it.
Well worth the price!
For $23 dollars two of us played 18 holes and had no one in front of us or in back of us, had the course to ourselves. Course itself needs some work the fairways are hard and there really is no rough. Greens are fast but and in good shape, a little hard as well.
No real food but the beers were cold!
Golfing at Quail Ridge
This is a great course. However, due to bad weather at the time we booked our tee time, we were unable to take advantage of it and play. We have played this course before and the course is a great course. Also, great staff in the Pro Shop!
enjoyed the course, greens in good shape
course had some challenging holes and some to rest on.
the greens were a lot of fun to putt on , lotsa breaks and speed was plenty fast
Needs some work
It might be the time of year but the course was in pretty rough shape. Fairways were tough to hit off of and there was zero rough. I will say the greens were nice considering.
Outstanding Service
The course is a bit out there but we would go back anytime just because of the great service the manager (or maybe owner) provided in the clubhouse. Very friendly staff down to the Marshall confirming tee times and letting you know if you were up or on deck. Course is good, cannot wait to see it in the summer
Pay for what you get
For the $12 I spent on the tee time it was worth it. The layout is good but the course isn't very well maintained. The greens were a little better than I expected them to be, but for the money, it was a deal. I spent more on gas to get there than the actual tee time. Overall, I would play it again for $12.
Great Price
Great price for the money. Still needs work on the low areas... still very wet.
Good value for the price
Greens are in great shape and roll well for this time of the year. Red tees are very fair for women and younger players.
