River Bend YMCA Golf Course

I grew up playing River Bend with my dad and lived less than 10 minutes from the course. I always had fond memories of the course and loved playing it. I drove up from Rock Hill with my buddy due to getting a Hot Deal from Golf Now. We had played the course about 7 months ago and found the course to be in the same general condition. The rebuilt greens were very smooth and rolled true. There did seem to be a small difference in the roll of the greens from the front side to the back, but that could be the grain due to being later in the day.

The tees and fairways were in great shape, and the course was still a challenge some 35 years later. It was GREAT to be back home to play this course. Playing from the tips changes the complexity of the course and is a good test of your skills. DON'T HESITATE TO PLAY RIVER BEND! You won't be disappointed, especially for the price.

The only negative was that most of the bunkers were still G.U.R., but you shouldn't be in the bunkers anyway.

Even though I live nearby I haven't played here a lot in the past because I hadn't been crazy about the course in the past. However I got a hot deal on golfnow for $15 that I couldn't pass up. We arrived early and check in was smooth and we got started a bit early. The course wasn't very crowded before 8 am. I was very impressed with the course. The tees and fairways were cut nicely and it good shape. But the greens were awesome. This was the first time I had played here since they redid the greens a couple years ago. They are great. They rolled so smooth and were very fast. I haven't been here much in the past. But I will be back more just because the greens were so great. Worth it for sure.

Staff very friendly and course was in good shape. Greens were excellent but hard to read. Fairways were being worked on and some rain would have helped rhem out. Will be going back soon.

Awesome course, greens and fairways are in top shape. Tee boxes are really nice as well which is important to me. Bunkers are being restored also. This course is only going to get better! Staff was very friendly. Will definitely be going back!

Phil and all the staff are super nice and always courteous and helpful. It's a joy to have a golf course that is not only fun and challenging to play but is always in really great shape. I highly recommend this golf course and I'm sure you will enjoy the experience.

Visited from out of town and had a great time golfing with my family. Nice layout. Sand traps are in the process of being replaced, and the new ones are great! The new greens were nice, particularly considering is was late February when the grass at many of the courses around here go dormant.

Although course was wet due to previous incliment weather the course and greens vere in very good condition. The wet was the reason for the slowish play. However staff was extremely friendly and course is a fair test of golf and I will definitely play it again

I played this course numerous times when I worked in Shelby. The condition of the Fairways and greens were very good. The sand traps need work. Many challenging holes and if you par number 8 give yourself a gold star!

It had been raining for 3 days prior to the day I played. Greens were perfect! Great course for the money!

Our group enjoyed playing this course. The staff is very friendly and the course is in good shape. They are presently working on the sand traps and when finished should make for an enjoyable round of golf. We always enjoy the course and it seems to get better each time we play.

I had not played this course in several years until going out yesterday. Couldn't believe the improvement in the greens. The new greens were excellent. Evidently all the bunkers are in the process of being re filled as number 10 was the only hole that actually had sand in bunkers. N. 9 fairway was a little rough & very bare but considering the dry spring we've had, it's hard to blame the maintenance crew. They've also taken down a number of trees on the course. this makes the course feel much more open and playable. Overall a really good value. I'll be back soon at this price.

Course was in excellent shape, pace of play was slow but it was a holiday.

This was our first time playing River Bend Golf Club. Was very impressed with the condition of the greens. The bunkers were being reworked, so they were unplayable. Extremely friendly and welcoming atmosphere from the starter. Can't beat the value we got for the price. Definitely worth twice what we paid in green fees. Wonderful course that we will be back to in the future.

Played today- day after Xmas. Its been 1 1/2 years since I played this course and promised myself that I would never go back. Im so glad I went back!!! Staff was very concerned about there greens and you can tell they have really focused on making this a great course for the money. My handicap is 8.5 and play week across town at Deerbrook which is an awesome course. But this is the place i will be when deerbrook is booked with tournaments. The greens were great!!! You will not be disappointed!!

First time playing this course, it is a fun layout and is fairly open. Not to difficult and the new greens they put in are great. will definitely play this course again

I picked up a HOT-deal for an early tee time. The drive from Charlotte wasn't bad at all, around 45 minutes. I was really impressed by this course and will go back again! The greens were in really good shape and even my putts rolled true!

Me and my golfing buddy played yesterday and was highly impressed with the course. It is not a long course but very tight and challenging. The greens were phenomenal. Like putting on plush carpet. The only drawback we had was we were first off in the morning and on the last three holes we played they had forgot to put pins in the greens on the holes and we had no idea where to shoot at. When we got to clubhouse we told them about it and they were super friendly and apologized and told us to play some more which we did for free. We highly recommend for the money.
