River Bend YMCA Golf Course

These guys are doing to local course right! Great friendly staff, Phill and his guys are always friendly and act like they are glad to see you. The course is not great but its really good. Enough water and turns in the holes to keep in interesting, but wide enough to be forgiving. The greens really make the place. They are perfect. Firm, fast, and very smooth. Very easy to putt on. The fairways are common bermuda but they keep them cut nicely. The rough is well, rough. Thick in some spots, bare in others, it is what it is. Even on a busy Sunday, still finished in just under 4 hours. Its not a flashy resort course, but its a great place for a local round in the afternoon or one the weekends.

Good fairways, great greens, sand traps in the process of improvement. If it were closer to home, I would play it often!

I really like the course just wish it wasn't as far away (I live in Belmont). Greens were in great shape. Large enough for the amateur yet undulating enough to be a challenge. Definitely have to use different clubs on this course. My last round will be well remembered as it is now the place I got my first hole-in-one. Sweet!

Great greens. A few really challenging holes and a few easy holes. All but a few of the bunkers have been redone. Eexcellent Course.

The greens were in excellent shape and fairways still coming in but good shape. I got a hot deal and it was great price with the condition of course. Very good hot dog on the turn. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Greens are in great shape, fairways are of common burmuda but I hear they are working on that. Sand traps are improving, still a couple under repair. Overall great place to play, I love playing there. Great staff, nice folks.

Greens are amazing best in Charlotte area. Fairways are coming in but there are bare spots. Layout is fun with some very challenging holes. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Really busy but was still done in under 4.5 hours. I would recommend the course to all.

I used to not be a big fan of this course. However, the YMCA and Phil Wallace and the staff have done a great job and changed my opinion, especially after yesterday. The staff was extremely friendly, it was easy to check in and get going. The grass on the tee boxes and fairways is just starting to come in, so they were a little hit and miss. No grass in some spots, pretty thick in others. Not much you can do about that, its just that time of year. The greens! Goodness! They are perfect! The putted smooth and true. This is a great local course and worth a play for sure.

It had been quite a few years since I had played River Bend and I had remembered the greens being flat but in good shape.I was surprised when I realized that they had redone them four years ago and now they were bigger and you could easily three putt them. They rolled around a 9 and putts rolled true.There was water on the course to drink and my buddy and I played in three hours and thirty minutes.The only complaint I have is their is not much grass in the fairways but it is early summer as the course is 60 miles from my home.spring.The course layout was great with only a few quirky holes. I will play again probly this

I had heard this course was well laid out , had a exceptionally friendly staff and great greens. I can now confirm this, and particularly the great greens. I just returned from playing 2 courses in SW Florida-Naples-Ft. Myers, and these greens are superior to anything I have played in the past year. Actually they were (all 18) perfect! Staff was genuinely concerned when I had temporarily lost an iron, helping to locate it. Overall a hidden out of the way, exceptional value gem.

This course is a must play. I have golfed for 37 years and this is, taking everything into account, one of my top picks! I just love the 75 year old trees lining many of the holes, the large mini verde greens, the medium width fairways and the maturity of this 50 year old course. The greens were spectacular even in March with them being covered at night. The front nine is one of the best laid out and scenic nines I have ever played. The seventh hole a par three looks and plays like number 12 at AUGUSTA. This hole is better than its copy at International World Tour at Myrtle Beach. The back nine is good too. The only hole I didn't like was the 8th which had a severe right to left slope to the fairway and even a ball hit to center found its way into the water. My advice is STAY RIGHT and listen for the bell signifying that group in front has cleared the fairway as this is a blind tee shot. I highly recommend this course. It is one of the best around and I look forward to many more times of playing this course as its in my top 5 ever.

First time playing this course, and I will be back. My round started with a very pleasant greeting from the men in the pro shop. Course is well conditioned, and pace of play was ideal. I would highly recommend to anyone, and will return.

This is the best course in the area!

Haven't played Riverbend in 25 years. Enjoyed the course, bunkers need work, but overall, greens putted good, lies weren't bad, good day had by all.

Greens were perfect. Can't beat it for the money. Staff was great as well. Once the bunkers are fixed it will be ideal.

Can`t believe we found this course for the low price.We play here a lot ,one reason is they support the First Tee program,second is it

`s a great course with a super staff,they leave no stone unturned to make your day great.

By all means if your in the area go play .

the only negative is that the greens had been freshly aerated and made play or putting very slow. Know that this is needed maintenance.
