Challenging course if played from the correct tees
Fairways and roughs in good condition. Sand traps had soft sand. Greens held the approach shot, putted true, were medium speed.
Being my first (but not last) visit to river bend I was pleasantly surprised. Except for some very wet areas the course was in excellent conditions. The greens were a bit fast but that just added to the challenge of the course. Especially on some of those downhill putts! Fairways & rough areas were all in good condition and very playable. Staff was extremely nice. If you are looking for a fairly open course with its share of challenging holes this would be a good choice.
Best Greens Around
I always enjoy playing golf at Riverbend! The greens are immaculate, great layout and price is unbeatable. If you haven’t ever played here I recommend giving it a shot!
Nice course
Greens are fast and the course is in awesome shape. The snack stand has sandwiches , hotdogs, drinks and snacks. The pro shop staff is great. The course has a rule no singles on fri,sat or sun but they got me out today so just beware.
This place is in great condition right now 🍺😎👍🏻
Well worth the drive….
Great Greens
Absolutely some of the best greens in the local area. Drove 45 minutes for this and absolutely wasn’t disappointed. Meticulously maintained greens.
Pro shop staff is an asset to this course
Course in Great shape. Pro shop is as friendly as anywhere I’ve ever been. Get some advice about where the lakes are. Some are in blind areas. Give it a chance ! We will be back no doubt !
First time at River Bend YMCA
Had been hearing great things about the conditioning of the course, especially for the value. While 55 minutes from Uptown, at $45 for a Sunday morning tee time, this place is incredibly hard to beat in terms of CLT public golf. The greens were incredibly pure (second group on the tee sheet for what that’s worth). Literally perfect putting surfaces. Played as a 3some behind a 2some and got around in 3 hours (2some probably played in 2.5 hrs). Will be playing here 1-2 times a month on the weekends. Cant recommend enough.
River Bend with Buddy
First time playing this course, so it was more challenging due to blind tee shots. Lost balls in rough that were not far off the fairway. Bunkers were difficult due to lack of soft sand. Greens didn’t hold as well as expected. Fairways were very good and so were the greens. Slope and speed of greens were made for a few 3 putts. It was a great day for golf and we will will return in the next month or so.
Great shape
We play here often.Course is in beautiful condition. Best I've ever seen it. Hats off to grounds keeper.
Enjoyable course
Fairways and roughs in good condition. Sand traps were hard packed. Greens rolled true, held the approach shot, were medium to slow speed.
Excellent Course Conditions
Riverbend is in great condition for play with large greens that are rolling true. The groundskeeping team have made the most of the regular rains so things are much greener and softer than usual at this time of year. They have removed a lot of trees and cleared a lot of underbrush in the past few years making it more approachable for the mid to high handicaps. A good range finder will be helpful as on course markings are difficult to find on several holes.
This is a fun course, that isn't especially long. The rough will punish, however, and you can easily loose a ball in the first cut.
review
it always amazes me that when a course is packed there is NO RANGER of any kind to keep pace of play moving.
4 hrs 45 minutes to play a 6100 yard golf course is ridiculous.
its impeding growth as players like myself say
'screw this' im not spending a whole day to play golf.
just bad for the game
Thank you for your detailed feedback on our course conditions and improvements. We appreciate your suggestion about the on-course markings and will work to enhance visibility for a better experience.
